    I spent almost 2 years in Toronto 2014-2016 cost of living is definitely something you should look into before moving to Canada. Having lived in many great cities I think Toronto is one of the expensive city to live in.

    wow - the condo prices are very reasonable... very reasonable compared to Connecticut or especially NYC !!!
    The house prices seem very reasonable for what one gets.... as these houses are very very nice.
    You make many valid points about how houses can be divided up, this is a common practice in Brooklyn NY where I am from, as the average price is a million plus... and that's for a place that's 100 years old !!
    This video which you have presented here is exceptional, if I was to entertain the though of relocating to Toronto. you have literally answered all my questions here.
    Thank you so much for posting these most informative videos !!

    Recently, the house and condo prices in GTA area are soaring up high. The rental fee is becoming more expensive. I think mostly the housing expenses are very high for some canadians due to foreign investors who brought up the housing market value. I live in Brampton. Even in Brampton region, the average house prices are 800k to 1 million dollar. I have some videos in my channel showing luxury village in Brampton, and they cost about 5million dollars. Brampton is literally dominated by Indians who immigrated to Canada and brought the house prices even higher

    Your first description of up to 10 bedrooms for rent: That is a slum rooming house. No matter how good the house looks from the outside, if it does, this is very bad situation. No privacy, mixing of clean people and slobs, no cooking allowed (so you just know people will either try and bring in hot plates, microwaves), terrible smells, very bad.

    Toronto is too expensive. Come over to Ottawa it's cheaper you could even move into a hull Quebec. In hull Quebec I was paying $768 for rent two bedroom house not including oil electric. Electric was about $120 a month because I'm I have user and the oil was about $1800 a year. And my new house is $1500 for three bedroom $68 for gas and about $100 for electricity

    Well the government has people living in Canada on less than 1000 a month, and seniors and disabled live on a few hundred to 1000. I myself have lived like this or less, during the last 3 and half decades. But that only includes part of your health. Ab I haven't qualified for physio that Drs say I need. Also u have to pay for mental health treatment, dental, and optical a and some meds. And opposite to what our mayor says, most people living below poverty line in Calgary have to pay atleast 8 times the 5$ pass. The people on short term govt assistancepay 5, but ones in severe poverty for decades on disability who are constantly having to transport themselves for medical appt. they don't even make double, but they are expected to pay 8 times as much. But u can do it too. They don't see a problem with it for disabled and seniors, so if u r able bodied imagine how easy and healthy to live in that state of poverty . U can do it your whole life. U might have to cut out excess expenditures though, like food,, I've spent last decade at less than 1000 calories a day, oh and oil except from a lot, like any activity other than walking is luxury, any social activities as hard to find any free that people with money eventually want participate more stimulation. Decades is a lot of time, u can't expect others to want to do same old free activities, as years pass they will want to experience more. Monotony and apathy might set in, u just got to ask yourself, should I expect people to miss out on life just cuz I do, and no why would I want someone else to miss out on life experiences, just to. Oh yeah and about once a decade or so I can afford a vacation as long as close by, and don't spend money on places to sleep or food, and all u can do is walk around, but it is still

      +Jaimin Patel fully furnished could be somewhere between 1900-2500 depending on the area (sometimes even more),utilities included but hydro (approx $100/month) and cable/internet (package could be 60-150/month depending on channels, limited/unlimited internet etc)

      In Toronto you can find a two or three bedroom apartment for $1300. But Yes. Rent and real estate itself is much cheaper in Quebec. Even in Montreal it is cheaper than in Toronto.

      Apartment and condo are completely different types of buildings. And we think that Toronto is the best place to live!

    • @normamimosa7295
      @normamimosa7295 7 років тому +1

      @Life in Canada and @Mary M - Toronto is a very expensive place to start a new life. Depends what you are going to contribute to the economy.
      Condos are apartments that people buy. Toronto has a plethora of condominium buildings, but most of the people living in the condos are renters, because the condos are purchased by investors who rent them out.

      I'd move to Vancouver if I could. The winters are warmer and the city is overall more beautiful than Toronto. It is also better in ways that cannot be written about. Its like the difference of living in a beautiful Italian city vs a Russian city. JK, but seriously Toronto is alright as long as you are part of the upper middle or upper class.

      Will make a video about our expenses. There is no legal deposit for rent, but some landlord will take $250-500 keys deposit that they can use for some damage repairs after you move out. It's illegal though

    I'm planing a move to Canada for 2 years with a friend at the end of September and I'm really scared being able to afford rent comfortably. I've heard that finding 2 bedroom apartments within 15 minutes of downtown are rather expensive! The max we would like to pay is $700 each but I feel we will struggle to find that. Are there any places in Toronto that you would suggest two women in their early twenties should live?

    • @LifeInCanada
      @LifeInCanada  7 років тому

      +Cheyenne Morris your budget is pretty low but it is possible to find a place. The only one problem, you need to find a guarantor you will sign the documents for you, otherwise landlord won't consider two newcomers with no credit history, employment letter and income. But you can check viewing.ca and find some apartment where you have to deal with the management not landlord itself and it could be much cheaper so you can squeeze in your budget.

    • @normamimosa7295
      @normamimosa7295 7 років тому +1

      @Cheyenne Morris -- You will find it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to find a two-bedroom apartment within 15 minutes of downtown for $1,400 per month. One-bedroom apartments go for an average of $1,400 +.

    • @moonlightaddict11
      @moonlightaddict11 7 років тому

      Who could be a possible Guarantor as we're going to be new to the city? And what would be a decent realistic price just for a 2 bedroom apartment? $1500/$1600? Or still too low?

    Hi. I noticed that you mentioned that a person does not have to pay up to 6 months in rent in advance to live in a lowrise. Actually, regardless of what type of dwelling it is, whether a lowrise, highrise, condo, house, bungalow, or a cave, in Ontario it is illegal for a landlord to request and receive any amount of rent in advance except for first and last month's rent. It is illegal for a landlord to request anything more than just the first and last month's rent. It is also illegal for landlords to request deposits regardless if they are refundable.
    I'm hoping that you and your family were not ripped off at some point by an unscrupulous landord by you having given them up to six months rent or more in advance.
    God, bless you.
    -Nancy
