    Dawn to Dusk 1100 on a stretcher with an Exped Magamat (four inches thick).
    Crawl into a Darche 1100 canvas sleeping bag and dreamland is yours.
    A bit more time setting up and packing up, but super comfortable.
    68 years old so comfort is king.
    Great video.
    Thanks.

      The dusk to dawn is a great swag. Sounds like sleeping on a cloud with the extra mattress and stretcher.
      It’s one of those things if it only takes you a little longer to set it up but your comfortable why not do it and get a great nights sleep 💤

    As an American who only uses a swagg and no one gets it. They will last longer than any tent, and easily patchable. They are completely waterproof, set up and tear down is short because all your bedding is already in the swagg. A real mattress that you can use sleeping bags or a proper bedding like you have at home. Warm in cold conditions, and extremely cool in the summer with all the ventilation. With no condensation forming on the walls. While it takes up a proper amount of space, you spend nearly half your time camping sleeping. So be comfortable 👍🏼

      @4x4brothers  9 місяців тому +2

      Absolutely mate you have hit the nail on the head even for a family can always run extra swags and again still keeps all that bedding out of the car and packed up in the swag leaving essentially more room inside the vehicle for everything else

    I recently bought the Dometic Pico 2x2. Its quite expensive but has some interesting features:
    - only 10kg complete weight due to air pole design with integrated air matress
    - can be set up in less than 2 minutes
    - near vertical walls, giving you a less claustrophobic feeling
    - made out of breathable polycotton material (supposed to give you a much better climate than polyester based swags, no experience on my part if that is true)
    If you're on a budget, a Decathlon 2 seconds easy tent (200x140cm) coupled with an air matress can be set up even faster, has less weight and costs much less. I'm contemplating trying that one out too just for fun.

    • @CHopenderpro
      @CHopenderpro 10 місяців тому +1

      Fair question @gridoo. I am down South in the NSW Snowy region; a swag is the only way to stay warm in cold conditions. With heavy canvas and a small amount of air space, even in snow a swag with a good mattress will keep you nice and warm all night long, even helping you exceed your bag/doona rating. The other issue we deal with down here is super strong winds. With such a small profile a swag will just sit there with no issues at all, whereas a tent will cop a flogging in similar conditions, something I’m sure most tent campers can relate to.

      Brook Swags - aka John Flavel Upholstery @ Crystal Brook SA.
      I bought the 3 hoop 1200mm dome swag, with optional drop over the top fly net, and canvas tube bag, early 1997. This sway is incredibly tough, as it is made from truck canvas tarpaulin material. Even the bag is inpenetrable. I spent several 100s of nights in this swag, maybe 300, as a surveyor all over central Oz and every where in the NT, and other trips away. This sway is still going but insect windows need replacing now.
      John Flavel replaced the fibre glass poles for free when 'someone' may have fell on it one night. You cannot fauly the customer service.
      I have gone though a recent phase of various instant tents (due to gf claiming that the ol Brook swag is too small), but Im jack of it. Packing up is too slow for me, and ... all the separate crappola to take when tenting...
      Funny thing is, back in 1997 - 2000 I didnt see a single other dome swag - all flat back then, and the Brook swag caused a sensation @ every camp site. My fellow campers were all in flat swags, and thought I was some sort of princess wus. I didnt care, I woke up refreshed, they woke up freezing.
      I also used an electric blanket back in 1997... much to the ire of my fellow freezing collegues.
      So, Im back in the market for a 1400 swag, with max room inside - so the gf can sit up. But... the choce is not clear. I liked the 23zero outbreak 1500 for the ability of having the top open, but still covered by the fly - for max ventillation, but it is very bulky when rolled up, and I always have all my bedding inside.

      @@nordic5490 house history behind your swag mate. Sounds like you have had some epic adventures doing the surveying and I’m sure you have some amazing less known sites to head away to.
      Sounds like a great product you have. The 23zero swags are amazing still so are the darche a lot of their swags very similar. Someone’s playing copycat 🤫😂
      Either of them two brands you will be very happy with

    Better to film not next to a highway

      Absolutely but unfortunately that was where Dave’s old property was so it was much easier to do it there than transport all the swags

    The cheapest you can get once you use one you probably hardly ever use it again. Just get a tent.

      Yeah sorry about that unfortunately it was the freeway near where I lived at the time and the neighbour decided to mow his grass. Hindsight maybe we should have done it somewhere quieter
