I would like to see the engineer report on whether these container homes that now are coming on the market can withstand a Cat 4 hurricane or a 7 or higher earthquake. Nothing wrong with container homes if done right but more than one builder in Jamaica has been known to cut corners and leave homeowners stuck with the problem.
No way I'm paying so much money to live in a blasted container, no matter how dem pretty dem up.... Come on why is Jamaica going down this route? If this is being promoted it should be a cheaper option for people who cannot build or buy a traditional house!
Is like every day Jamaica is getting worse and worse. Why houses are not being made afforded for poor people . Instead they are encouraging people to go live in tin. smfh
My thoughts exactly. And I doubt these can withstand hurricane..kmt bout 8.5 mil..they need to cut that in half or less cause the containers no cost no more than 1-1.5 mil kmt
Waaaay too expensive for the size!!!! 8.5 mil.???? Thats crazy....I thought the point of container Homes is to aid with the housing crisis more specifically the cost of owning a home.
I feel sorry for the people who are inquiring about this unit. They are desperately indeed of a place to lay thier head and call call their own. But don't let desperation causes you to make stupid decision.
Bedroom space must be big, I'm claustrophobia with these little units. It looks very nice for vacation somewhere not a house for me to live in and too expensive for my liking this is my take.
❤❤❤❤ love these highlights of the home..love the decor I'm wondering with no AC how cool is inside when the doors and windows are closed..even tho u said it's insulated
People may be able to buy the container house but have nowhere to put it so back to square one…. We have nowhere to live because we can’t afford anything.
What Govt need to do is find lands to sell people at affordable rates and give people proper loans to build strong structure. If they want to provide the building plan so people stay within a standard fine.
U can buy 3000 block for 300 000. 3 ton a steal around 650 000. Sand and mall say 500 000. Tops . Other knicks nacks say 500, 000. Workman say 1000000. We looking at 3mil and I over did the estimate.... for a big house.
Hi Melva, transportation cost is dependent on where the unit is going. They will do a site visit and give advice about how to prepare the land but land preparation is not included in the purchase price.
This is not recommended for the Caribbean countries where hurricanes are so frequent. Take the 8.5 mil and built up a strong foundation and take your time expand overtime. Uno love ready done to much.
I don't understand why people think container houses are not safe. People have been living in container houses in the USA for a long time. The majority of houses in America are not concrete or brick and many withstand hurricanes and container houses are stronger than board houses.
Yeah but traditionally jamaicans dont use board we use concrete... board houses are commonly found in ghettos for obvious reasons. If somebody could afford 8.5 million for a container home i dont think they would be in a board house in the first place. Also, hurricanes completely flatten american homes all the time. If not for solid concrete/brick basements alot of American families would be wiped out every time a random orgy of wind makes its way over there.
I really like this one! A lot of you bashing this property need to know that plenty of the houses you're living in and going crazy over a broad are the same or VERY SIMILAR to these so do your research before you bash lol
What do you mean, to me, it is expensive, we find the land, do foundation and other things, then they place the container house on it, not everything that displays in the video will be given, you have to pay for them separately, for me a two bedroom wouldn't do, a 3 or 4 bedrooms would be ideal for me, not everyone can gather that amount at a bink of an eye
Great video.. however you cannot install your Inverter or battery for the renewable energy outside Miss Sales lady… you cannot as I too use renewable energy.. it must be under shelter
Kmt container house for so much money?😮 Not a redpeaz.....no more than couple hundred thousands......this housing pricing system in Jamaica getting way out of hand..kmt
Hey flybyairplane, its been a while we haven't seen you in the comment section, glad to see you commenting again. To answer your question, they are located at the Kingston Logistic Center (KLC), 146 First Street, Newport West, Kingston.
NHT don't finance properties that aren't permanent structures and if this container property is on a land, and u value the land u will not get a valuation of that container home because it's not considered permanent structure
Why Spend $8.5 million to build containers when that money could build a place to live with blocks this type of unit will go well if it's a lease property but a person who owns his premises would this make sense

Don't compare the container houses in USA to these upcoming ones on Ja. When storm struck USA, they are guranteed compensation, shelter and insurance. What are we guranteed here after spending such hard working money?
Demand better from the govt. Better they lease/sale people lands and we take our time build. Time fi nht sell more lands (affordable too) and stop make expensive boxes that you still have to expand.
Well it "looks good" i can give it that. But too expensive. In order to have that you will need land, saw another comment that says nht wont finance it because its not considered a "permanent structure" So tell me now, would someone who has land and can afford to spend 9 million dollars upwards buy a container home??? To me these are for business men who wants a home away from home. Maybe something at their business but if your thinking that "its affordable housing for the common class" your mistaken. Not to mention no grilling in a country top 10/12 for the highest crimrates in the world. Unless you have land in some sort of boujee community or tucked away luckily out of sight in a relatively peaceful hole i dont know where your going to put that "home" without it being susceptible to robbery or crime in general. Not to mention acquiring land near urban areas is very expensive to do so. Hypothetically speaking: i have land and 9 million dollars to spend i could purchase a second hand vehicle to travel and build my own house to my liking and budget
Our real problem is availability of land. Many persons dont have land. When I buy this where am I going to put it. If I have land I would not spend 8.5 mill for a container that will rotten by the time I need to pass it onto my children. Just a waste of money, brain power and people's time.
in america these are the cheapest houses why so expensive ill buy my own land then build a concrete house an it wont cost 8.5 millions smfh in deh suppose to hot like fire.
Love your professional presentation Kieda. Your are maturing with every video
Thank you so much Sadikie, I am learning as I go.
Love it! Options for those who needs this type of space/living. Love that Jamaica is moving with the times ❤…
Watched all the way to the end. Wow. I can see the light now. Thanks guys for this episode.
You're welcome Levi and thank you too 💕
I do wonder if those container homes can withstand a category 4 Hurricane?
This is it.... Jamaicans are being priced out the market and they want people to live in containers.... Dwl... if I laugh one more time
@@ChevBling It's way cheaper to build but this is for people who want to save on time and the convenience of not having to deal with workmen.
I'm pretty sure it can

People are talking about this and that about container housing here in jamaica but little do they know that this is big in the usa

These are really nice but a poor person still can't afford it😢

Going down this route ?.......this is the future of housing, not just in Jamaica.
Steel or concrete which is stronger or tougher, I'm getting 3 of the 3 bedrooms, for rental.
Very creative n innovative concept for housing. Thanks for sharing
Waaaay too expensive for the size!!!! 8.5 mil.???? Thats crazy....I thought the point of container Homes is to aid with the housing crisis more specifically the cost of owning a home.
Is anything cheap?
If at times we are so hot in the concrete house, you can imaging being in a container all your life? Wow!
Great content as always. However, I would laugh at myself to throw away $8.5mil just like that. I have a problem with tiny space.
Worried about the heat…. But it’s a great concept to buy into
I was concerned about the heat too but the insulation helps to control the temperature within the unit.
Love the back splash in kitchen.
I love this, and your channel.
I feel sorry for the people who are inquiring about this unit. They are desperately indeed of a place to lay thier head and call call their own. But don't let desperation causes you to make stupid decision.

Amen
The housing conditions in the ghettos of Kingston are inhumane. Can containers housing be used to replace the housings condition?
So true .I couldn't believe how trench town still look in 2023..Same ZINK fence and board house
true but when 20 people live in a space design for 4, Where are you going to put that?
I often thought about that, however, the poorer one is the more children one seem to have.
I think you'll have to think about the gunmen and multitude of gangs first before you talk about housing
People may be able to buy the container house but have nowhere to put it so back to square one…. We have nowhere to live because we can’t afford anything.
Yeah, land prep isnt even in the cost. Worse you dont even own any land yet.
Lovely !
Love this
What about using two forty foot containers
Are there additional fees for delivery, installation and securing the utilities? What are they?

I have no problems with these homes. However, over 8 mil for a container home?
What's the cost for transporting the units to the various locations, and does the purchase price include complete set up on your land?
Hi Melva, transportation cost is dependent on where the unit is going. They will do a site visit and give advice about how to prepare the land but land preparation is not included in the purchase price.

A dat nuff people need fi know!
The one thing I don't see addressed is concerns of security. So much glass and no grilling. This is Jamaica after all.
Yeah... you baisically have no security outside of that glass lol
It should be real safe in any category hurricane as long as it is well grounded, n more safer in an earthquake,
