Hey thanks for the video I just did this to my TCL ROKU TV 48FS3750 I found on the side of the road, I ended up with 5 messed up strips. Wanting to put no money in it I grabbed a 32inch Samsung with a broken LCD off the side of the road. Took those 2 strips removed the edge 4 strips, put the new ones like " \ l l / " behind the LCD (spaced them out, had to make wires longer). I had to solder some wires to the new strips and splice them to the connectors also had to cut holes for the lights in the backing because of different placement and now I have a slightly darker but not flashing all the time tv! Thank God haha 😂 Mine has not flashed since so I assume it was not the board, I'll comment if it dies soon lol
Great video! We were able to order the tester and isolate the bad light, order a repair part and get it all reassembled, and then the screen had a hairline crack down the middle when we turned it on lol. At least we tried. And good to know this actually works if you're careful enough.
Have we really arrived to a point where tv's only last a couple years?? I must be living in the damn twilight zone! I'm guessing they do this on purpose so we will keep consuming, or either people dont know how to make products that last anymore. I just may never buy a flat screen tv again.
I make a list of what brands I buy that break down and stretch them off so I would never buy from that brand again. haha They might be trying to make cheap parts so they can save and get more money out of it.
My thoughts exactly. My 55inch samsung tv that I have on the wall, has decided to display a black shadow on the whole of the left side covering about 1/3 of the screen. Only had the tv for just over a year and a half. The thing is the cost of repair isn't even worth it any more with these kind of tv's. Tvs have come a long way but definitely lacking in durability smh.
For the 39 inch TCL of my parents there unfortunately are no replacement strips available, but you documation of the repair still is very helpful. Thanks!
nice advice but I'd rather pay someone who does this professionally. If it costs under $200 US for parts and labor then it's worth it, if it's more it's probably better to buy another one and get a 2 year replacement plan.
@@shawnwacek6791 sorry to hear that. I was just wondering if you ever did find out what the problem ended up being. I'm guessing mine is either one or more bad LEDs (backlight) or the LED driver is bad. One thing that happens with mine is when I go to turn the TV off you actually see a picture for a split second. Also I may not have mentioned that if I turn the lights off in the room and shine a flashlight on the screen I actually do see the image. It's just there's no backlight working. if you listen to what he says it's probably one of the led's shorting out. they could still handle low voltage i.e. minimal brightness on the screen, but when you crank it, one shorts out and so that whole section dims out.
Save your money and buy another TV -- I have a 55 with lines in the screen - good screen but for my nickel, if I paid this guy to do this - he would spend 30 on one single strip of lights if needed - and I do not need that - but still too much.
