I am a preschool teacher and I take bullying very serious.. Just thinking about how Dylan’s mom expressed that he was a very sweet boy when he was little.. makes me think how something failed throughout the years as he was growing up and same for Eric.
When I see all the precious children in my classroom I just imagine how great they will be when they grow up and truly care about their wellbeing. I know they are little and will experience so much as they grow up but I try my best everyday to make sure they know the meaning of Being kind to each other and that bulling is not ok. I pray that all role models they have in the future will do this as well. It saddens me how many innocent people were killed that day and how no one imagine it could happened .. like they said the unthinkable happened at Columbine but in reality it could have been prevented, there were many red flags 🚩 that many people ignored.. just if someone could have l acted and given them the help they need it.

Dylans mother also said he was a "sweet" person in the same amount of time that he was actively involved in a plan to kill up to 500 of his classmates, then took joy in aiming his gun at people he didn't know and ending their lives. Take her delusional words with a grain of salt.

You have to remember this was 1999, 1 of the 1st school shootings, they were not trained handle this. They were getting info that it was 9 shooters & bombs placed around the school. You can't just go into a building blind. While saving kids Cops & an ambulance were literally being shot at through windows. Like I said they weren't trained for this, had no plan & didn't know how the school looked inside but The shooters did meaning the killers knew all the spots to sneak up & kill. Furthermore, the side entrance to the library was open, so armed cops were safely tucked away 15 feet, listening to kids being taunted and murdered, and did nothing. Don't take a job where you take an oath to serve and protect if you're going to be that useless.

This is a terrible tragedy. In reality this was a system failure. The school and policy failed all of these victims. Anti-bullying and gun laws were not in place. These kids did an atrocious act of murder... but it’s reported also they were tormented by this football team. There are reports of throwing cups of feces at the shooters and ketchup over the years... called them names. So much they were both in therapy. I’m not sympathizing, but it needs to be known that most of these shootings are system failures. Failure to identify threats, bullying, and plans. I hope we truly learn one day, so these shootings stop.

Crazy how a certain group of football players (importantly not all of them) had such a violent bullying history and police encounters but were always let go by law enforcement and the school. It doesn’t seem Matt was a part of it. But those that were should be ashamed. Definitely not the singular reason but bullying has consequences and affects people. So yes they were part of the problem. They didn’t make them do the attack but they hurt them and many many kids in Columbine with their bullying and sadly that did play part in why the perpetrators chose to do what they wanted to do. Pushed down repeatedly by fellow students and not being helped out by staff and law enforcement to end the injustice. I don’t want to see this as putting blame on specific people but on the whole community. I hope this was a wake up call and makes everyone learn to stop bullying when we witness any kind of it and to stand up for everyone, reach out to those who need it most. Share kindness, not hare or violence. Especially in school.

When sports is given too much attention, made out to be more than a game, like a gold mine for money purposes and greed, or simply given more credit than it certainly deserves for the purpose it serves, there lies the problem. Students fight for academic prowess to make a real difference in this world as make believe sports games played and soon forgotten because who won or lost never really mattered to begin with. We can always use medical professionals and medical research to improve our health. Do we really need a sports athlete in this world? How about another scholarship for athletics? It is no shock how bullying and over inflated egos over sports became out of control, especially in the ignorant society of America. Sports athletes are admired like they just discovered a cure for cancer. Dream on, they are about as much use as well their next game. Their last ones are already forgotten about.
