I was gushing about this to my husband. All those beautiful fabrics, and I could actually see him thinking: good grief, not more fabric.

I'd like to share a "quick measure" approach that I learned when first in the fab business. grap one end of the fabric in your left hand and stretch your arm out, turn your head all the way to the right, and bring the fabric to your nose with your other hand - that is about 1 yard. no yard stick needed. ;)

I was coming to tell her the same thing! Ha ha sweet Raven that was painful to watch. And I could definitely see wide legged pants in that white fabric. In that first floral was amazing.
Exactly. My 93 year old mother thought me that a long time ago.
My grandmother used to do that too.
I was also taught that by my mother back in the early 70’s. Will be forever grateful she taught me how to sew, beginning with Vogue designer patterns! And years later, when I got interested in French Hand Sewing, she sat down and showed me how to do a proper roll and whip. Such a wealth of knowledge!!Endless patience and always made me think I could do anything to which I set my mind !!
Funny story,I came home to hubby from fabric store. I pulled out a large piece of fabric and said (with glee)……doesn’t this fabric just make your eyes so happy! 😁 the look on his face was 😳😬

Hi Raven, the fabric box was amazing value. The printed pink floral was gorgeous for your colouring. The stuff in the plastic bag is sewing tape, it’s sewn across the neckline and shoulder seams to stabilise the fabric. Great vid

Wow Raven, You motivated me to go get the Mood Mystery Box! I've never ordered a mystery box because a lot of times I'm not that impressed. I didn't care for the Fabricmart Box. But this one is a WOW!!!! 🥰

Wooooww.. they are all beautiful but that second fabric!!!❤❤ I wanted to pick that when I went to mood Miami in January. It’s so beautiful. I may need to try their mystery box in June when I’m off my fabric buying ban.
Oooohhh! Nice - I've driven past the Miami store but never got to go in. The box is 10/10 - highly recommend.
Gold and black stretch would be a great pencil skirt or vest.

You can also make bags or pouches with some of the leftover scraps. Can't wait to see what you make with this fabric! That first cut is going to look beautiful on you! Mood is a great place for fabric (albeit a little pricey). Enjoy!

tip: Measure the length of your arm. Find out what length of your arm to tip of your nose is
It makes guesstimating yardage so much easier
I know that one yard is approximately the bottom knuckle on my hand, along my out stretched arm to the end of the opposite shoulder.

If you hold your arm out horizontally and make a fist, the distance from your nose to the knuckle of your index finger or middle finger is about one yard. A meter can be measured using the same technique, but using an outstretched hand.
The last piece of blue fabric would make a nice ruffled "vest" or skater skirt.

With the white crepé, you could dye it before or after cutting your pattern. My aunt does it all the time. Nice haul.

second: that last piece of fabric that you said was probably suiting, but not enough for a jacket kinda made me think - what about like a vest or waistcoat or something, with that stars and stripes lining fabric? that's just where my brain is tho lol and probably not a very spring-y project but alas!

Hey - I'm sure you can find a use for it somehow. Have you seen the tudor blouse? A lot of gingham versions of that blouse for sure.
Here's a quick hint for you - if you hold one end of the fabric at your nose, the length of your arm extended out to the end of your finger is usually about a yard. You can get a quick estimate of the yardage that way. Also the lamé that you thought would make a miniskirt, could be a great sleeveless vest (over a black dress or skirt/top pants?
You should definitely wear the gold and black stretch brocade near your face. When you held it up, it was a lovely combination. Perhaps a vest?

is that white bemberg lining? it is the absolute best of linings. I always say 'fall in love with bemberg when you line a circle skirt you rustle, rustle, rustle as you walk down the street and heads turn and they know you are special and wonderful

I am wondering if that little packaged red 8 is something you throw in the drier after you wash fabric that picks up loose threads and cat hair.
It’s Velcro … I wonder if it’s for outerwear or something and I just snip it as needed. Lol I wish they labeled it 🤣
I'm really curious about the black and gold really rough fabric. It looks awesome but I can't imagine what it would have been made for, since it was so rough.

That second fabric looks like a bathing suit and wrap to me. Is it suitable?
It probably is, but I will likely make a dress from it.
The last gray fabric looks and acts like a wool suiting. Right- not washable. You could make a killer skirt with some pleats. You want to line it. Sorry- it is NOT enough for a woman's jacket!! But, you could purchase a coordinating wool tweed for a killer jacket to go with it! Have a party sewing your new fabrics up- a treasure chest for a sewer!!!!! The box is open because whoever delivered it open it. Some of my deliveries comes open also. Thank God they did'nt take anything.

It's possible but I don't think I will. I'm actually thinking of making a nice pair of white slacks with them.

Sateen is really nice for summer pants and skirts. This particular box of fabric would not be for me. I hope it is OK for you and that you enjoy using it.

I’m very disappointed in Mood. I’ve ordered 3 boxes, over the last 4 months, and each time at least 4-5 lbs are really HEAVY wools, upholstery, strange stretchy stuff, and mostly linings of one kind or another, and ALL blacks, navy, wierd shades … I’ve asked several times why Im being sent this kind of material to FLORIDA … and there was NO reds, yellows, greens, browns, tans or light material, NO florals, or cottons, or even jerseys … just awful … the last batch was sent UPS, and broken, torn, opened, and MOOD did nothing, no credit for shipping, no replacement of material .. NOTHING … I’m cancelling my account there … Lucky you. 😮
