FOR ANYONE CONFUSED!! You don’t have to do this in the order listed in the video. It turns out that whichever alter you go to first will have the sword… subsequently converting the other two remaining alters into either light or dark which will allow you to alter the sword, hope this helps!!
I got it from the second alter first, and was under the assumption that all of them gets you the sword, the first two convert it into darkness, and the third converts it into light.
Alternatively, you can grab the sword from the sister alter in Ruins of Unte. I hadn’t gotten here before I killed the Furnace Golem guarding the structure, so I had gotten there first and got the sword from inside there.
You can get the sword from anu of the 3 alters, it will always be at the 1st altar you visit, the remaining 2 will be used to transform the stone sheathed sword into the sword of light and sword of darkness.
hey man same issue here i haven’t been able to solve it BUT i have a inkling as to why it’s happening, i got my sword from the altar of darkness cuz i skipped getting it from the 1st altar underground, so i’m thinking if i go to the altar underground it should give us the option for the darkness altar (i think they just flip flopped purposes since i skipped getting the first altar)
Okay so. Got the sword and updraded to sword of light at the sword of darkness altar, but when i try to updrade to sword of darkness at the other altar, its not glowing or showing any signs of activation? Its not a must have but i like to 100% the game
@@scorpio6662 the wiki says you exchange it for, and I've had the same issue as you.... but idk maybe we're both doing something wrong 😂. At any rate I kinda want to wield on of each of the swords, night and light, so I'm going to go into ng+ regardless
I just tested this again and it looks a little bit bugged, you can indeed switch back and forth as many times as you want between the Sword of Light and Sword of Darkness but for some reason it sometimes reverts by itself so you have to go back to the 2nd altar and transform it again.
Just so you know you can go around the back of the ruins of Unte and do parkour off of a pillar to get in through the back near a hole, you don’t have to get the hefty pots and such.
i already completed the fog rift catacombs before i got the stone sheathed sword. i didnt know what this altar was for. i just went back with the sword and the altar is eead. nothing here. so now what do i do? So if i give my sword of light to my buddy can i then take a second stone sheathed sword and get the sword of darkness?
yes, messing with light version lately. havent gotten back into a boss thats weak to holy but it seems like it might be decent enough as far as shortswords go if you pair it with another holy one, weapon art is very long though so im hoping the buff is strong

Thanks! I was so confused when i went to the sword altar at the ruins from another video and got the sword of light. Was so confused.

You can only get one. Getting the sword of light transforms the stone sheathed sword permanently. Gotta do ng+

There are 3 altars in total. Once you pick up the stone sheathed you have to use either of the other 2 altars to change it to light or dark

What's the blue light above his head that lights up the dungeon. How can i get it?
It's a sorcery called starlight, you have to buy it from thops in the main game
None of the altars have the weapon for some reason… any ideas what to do?
Equip the weapon then approach the alter

seems like the art is kinda whatever. holy buff isnt huge but def helps in dual wielding or maybe swapping to an entirely different holy damaga dump.
