3:54 "K series" tripped Siri lmao
*hey siri* k serie
We approve of this video :)
If you’re doing the K E30, please add the K Cressida. I’ll be your first customer lol
K swap new edge mustang? Bad idea?👀 pretty similar weight and size to a 240 just sayynnnn.
Li as a
Who is we? Here is why K Series are not superior. I rather Swap LS engine or Rb26, 2jZ k series are good but it's 4 cylinders and Front wheel crap drive comparing to ls v8 or v6 2jz Or RB26DETT Nissan RB28 is more superior and Reliable even with turbos bc no.matter what u do The K Series engines with Turbos wont passed 100 thousand miles without major Problems or Major Maintenance
@@K1llum1nati ah yes the legendary "V6 2jz"
Yooooooo chilll homie wyd man telling every one to k swap you gonna make them cost more then what they should
It’s already started 😢 good thing I got a k24a2 in my garage collecting dust. Working on a AWD K integra
Smh too many ppl can’t keep there mouth shut.
Bro people have been K swapping for YEARS, this isn't a new thing. And if it's news to you, most likely you live under a rock.
Cullen Duncan that’s not what he’s saying what’s he’s saying is when a UA-camr mentions an engine or a car they get taxed heavy by stupid resellers
Neal Goble *cough* *cough* Nissan 240sx
You’re right, I was never into Honda’s but this K series has me swooning over it. The HP/L factor is incredible. Not many cars make that kind of power N/A. N/A performance is exacerbated when boosted, not sure Honda intended all of this but I believe the K series is going to be the best all around 4cyl for years to come.
Lex PFI/Boostedboiz
Imagine if Honda made a 4.8L V8 that was basically two K24 connected at the crank. Would be one of the greatest motors of all time.
Plur307 nothing new from Honda, check out Formula 1 and Indy Car if you want V8 or V12 Honda engines. Only street car even close to having a Honda V8 was a Mugen concept car (rwd accord with 4.0 V8 something like 500hp)
the b series did the same in its prime. record hp per litre, f1 genetics, economical reliable motor in a light well sorted chassis...typical Honda
@@wd4950 I mean for production cars. I don't really take interest in special snowflake racing engines that are rebuilt every 500 miles.
A few years ago I started looking into K swapping a Lotus Esprit. Went nowhere but sounds cool.
Almost a cool story!
@Jonathan Wickett
The Elise had a Rover K engine.
Theres an Esprit shell I keep seeing on Facebook market place, now you've got me thinking lol
Seen an Elise with a k swap. Super rad. In an esprit would be interesting.
The 1996 Lotus Elise will be 25 years old next year. You can import 25 year old cars and get around all emissions and crash protection laws since 25 year old cars can be registered as classic/collector cars. They have a curb weight of about 1,600 lbs. Would be an absolute rocket with a turbo K24.
The reason for the success of both the LS and the K is that neither is exotic, they are cheap and readily available with variants having been used to power all sorts of bland utilitarian vehicles, as well as more exotic stuff. Not really something you can say about the 1/2JZ, RB26, etc. which were also made in small numbers by comparison.
True; but also because they hold up to decent power. If either were known to blow up at 300whp probably not having this discussion right now.
Great discussion, I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on the K series.
Would love to see a K-swapped RX-8. The series 2 (09-11) used the same trans as an S2000, so I assume shouldn't be too hard to fit up, and the 13B-MSP's power and torque curves are near identical to an S2000 and so gearing etc for a K-swap should be pretty good to go, right outta the box.
To be making 250-300 NA high-revving whp with a small engine that maintains the balance of such a good car that is so avoided because of the rotary engine in it, would be an amazing project. Not to mention, an incredibly affordable shell to start with!
It’s bin done a lot actually
@@Rxwaat I haven't seen any build threads/blogs/vlogs on a K-swapped RX-8, or at least one that shows the challenges faced and overcome and the job seen to completion.
But if you are aware of any, PLEASE do provide a link as I'm VERY interested!
@@joshwolfe5260 6berries on Instagram I forget his UA-cam channel. He’s helped me a lot with k swapping my rx8
I just gained a whole lot more respect for your guys. You called it as it is. No "fanboy-ism" and no "hate". Just straight observations and facts. Great video. I'll be sure to share it 20 times. Oh, PLEASE K swap a Ferrari.
Thank you for this video! I was not really to knowledgeable about Honda’s but after this video and meeting Paul from KG performance I’m in the process of K swapping my 66 Volvo Amazon. Was gonna LS swap it but now it’s a K24A2 turbo swap! Thank you again!
I actually love the sounds of the k series
Me too!!! 100%! WTF is up with people?? I love the sound of all uncorked well tuned engines! I love and appreciate that different engines have different sounds. Just because I love the sound of an Alfa Busso V6 doesn’t mean I have to hate the sound of an in line four. It’s like saying brunettes are ugly just because you like blondes...ridiculous!
It's so dumb and misleading yeah a gutted civic with a straight piped k series and rattles is gonna suck but like a 8th gen SI with long tube headers and a 3inch exhaust sounds amazing and is deep with no rasp they use the worst examples
One thing I’d like to see is a 1970’s, 1980’s, or 1990’s Front engine Porsche with a Kswap. Maybe the Porsche 944 could be a good candidate. I don’t think that K swap would fit quite as well in a Cayman or 911.
An early 924 would be nice with the low weight, and better looks :) , but I think the height will be a big issue, or at least a really big bulge in the bonnet. The engine compartments is fairly wide but very low.
Those cars 944/924’s had front engine/rear transaxles which may make the swap problematic......or it may make it easier 🤷🏿♂️
The latest swap kit for the 924/944 cars is the 5cyl 2.5l 07k engine from VW/Audi which is basically half of the Audi R8 V10. I'm doing a turbo 07k swap to my rally 944 and cant wait to race with it.
@@dougschack9341 makes it very problematic. Either you find an amazing turbo transaxle, rebuild one, or scrap the old system and build a traditional RWD setup, which is also very problematic because those cars don't have transmission tunnels in the front, race car only if you do this.
There is a k 911 they fit
A K24 Turbo E36 would be a cool build especially since you would get the good trans to start
it is, my dream is a E36 compact with a NA K24 aslong as it fits under the hood. Would be the perfect Trackweapon
@@maxzimmermann6605 it fits under the hood. It fits in an E30 as well. A E36 Sedan would be the best option since they have more chassis rigidity than Coupes and they are usually also cheaper
I have an E36 track car now with a SBV8 swap, once that gets tired, K-swapping for sure.
M42B18> K24
@@stankomihov Are you out of your mind? M42 is old outdated technology, it doesnt even have variable valve timing
If you want a good sounding K series, you really have to keep the exhaust buzz under control with proper resonators and mufflers, and let the induction provide the soundtrack. The intake noise on the K series is great, and you can still make great power with a quieter high flow muffler setup.
applies to almost every high revving 4 cyl N/A engine

I really wanted to K swap my NA Miata when I had it. Had to sell the car but I will live vicariously through your channel!!
Why did you sell it?
Ahh i needed this after finals. Having A k swapped car in your garage is another reason to look forward to the weekend
Love these sit and talks. Let's us really pick you guys minds and see where you guys are really at, mindset wise, doing these projects. Do more and plus, you guys are almost dead ass serious on these talks lol but k series are the absolute best from a previous 08 civic si owner they are a quick motor.
Im in the process of doing a K24/K20 swap into my 99 subaru 2.5rs, excited for high revs and good power.
Keeping AWD? I'm going to be starting a K23/E46 six speed swap on an 05 STi shell I have, rear drive only...
I bought a second hand k20a2 and am putting it into a Toyota MRS.
I cannot stress enough about that timeing chain tensioner.
Luckily I checked mine and it was broken on a bone stock motor of less than 100k miles.
For the sake of a tiny cost save yourself the headache and replace the chain and tentioner with new oem honda ones.
Oh and the k20z upper chain guide fits on the older k20a motors and is much bigger. That combined with the aftermarket lower chain guide will make the timeing almost impossible to skip even if the tentioner does break.
Lastly if you are pushing big power then buy an aftermarket crank gear with a full keyway cut in it as on the stock one the small timeing pin has been known to break.
But yeah thanks for another great video and I look forward to more of your k shenanigans in the future.
We need more techs/shops doing K-swap on minis..
Wow right of the bat the quality of this video struck me.
Great job guys!! Keep it up!!
Edit: I'd love to see the k motor italian stallion and i think it would do wonders for the channel!
You guys always have such good info! Love the content keep it up guys.
honda makes the best manufactured engines in the world! its proven time and time again
Yes this whole segment was awesome! Love you guys and will always drive Honda. Have 2 currently
Top videos as always chaps.
I'm in the process of rebuilding my EP3 Civic track car engine. Keeping the 2.0 displacement, but revs, lots of revs and lightweight everything!
No doubting the torque of the K24 is a benefit, but I'm hoping for a response monster.
Better be putting some monster final drive in it to get the most of those revs
@@tomasbegley3032 I changed from the 4.7 to the 5.1. It made a massive difference.
Did you just film yourselfs separately? :D Absolute (and safe) madlads!
My dad just got a tr7, and now we’re thinking about k swaping it. I can’t wait to get my g2 license.
Really enjoying the videos as new subscriber. Keep up the great work and cheers from the US
Thanks for the words of encouragement and welcome!
I like the slight music in the background of this video. I was entertained. 👍🏻
Say what you will about Honda, they had some awesome engineering going into their engines for a while there. I'm always gonna be a straight six guy myself, love that noise and the overall feel, but if I need a 4 cyl a K series is a good option.
Honda been legendary just some folk with egos talk their talk but any real car guy or gal knows the Craftmanship of Honda.. yeah yeah daily driver and all the talk but as they said in the video about the engines is absolute. These days its about one million horse power forgetting the weight to HP ratio etc... Honda light weight and fast. Flipping old accord was making 276 or 278 stock I mean come on these new ones 252 or 260 with a tune making 300+... Anyhow your right buddy for a 4 cyl it is the way, many I've seen blew out mustangs and all the muscle car cars... LOL!!!
Straight 6 is definitely the best sounding engine (on the reality side away from Ferrari 8s and 12s).
honda have made almost every type of engine layout you can think of. including boxer, v5, inline 5, and even an inline 6.
@@stewarty777 I have a new civic si pushing around 240whp with a tune and I must say it’s a blast to drive around
Got a ep3 type r with a tegiwa exhaust system & there is no rasp, It’s all down to the exhaust system because I hate the rasp also. K motors are good, Keep up the great content
Unless you're really brand specific, the only swaps worth doing for NA builds in the US are K20/24, VQ35DE/HR, or any LS. It just depends on your power/torque needs and desired engine characteristics (redline, sound, power delivery, weight, ect). Any of the three would make great track motors with a ton of aftermarket support.
I agree except with the VQ35
even the HR is a turd
Coyote 5.0 are really good N/A engines more expensive ofcourse
@@dilsher12 I love the Coyote, but the price jump over an LS is hard to justify unless it's a Ford chassis
@@Adam-zi5se How is the HR a turd? With easy bolt on mods you would need for any engine swap, they'll be 375HP/300Tq which would be amazing in a 240Z, 240SX, Miata, ect. Plus, you can rev them to 8K if that's what you're into. You also have the CD009 attached to it. A stock LS1 would do the same numbers but rev completely differently.
I would love to see you guys build a Factory Five 818 with a k24 and type S trans. Looked at a lot of pictures, I think with minimal cutting of the chassis you could get it to sit in there transverse... If I didn't already have 5 projects going I would probably be ordering a kit to this myself.
Planning to do k24 awd mirage/evo. Awesome video guys
One of the most unique questions in a historical and technical way
They missed the part where you can get the power of the k24 but high revving of the k20s with a type s oil pump. But yea the aftermarket support for the k series are crazy. The best 4 cylinder swap for sure.
I've swapped an H23 into a Ferrari 308. Biggest issue is the half shafts. They end up super short and wear out quickly. The hubs are way inboard on the 308. We also had to remake the upper control arms. The motor hit the arms forward mounts stock and the driveshafts didn't line up. I made billet upper arms that moved the upper forward mount back about 2". One good thing about the swap is it dropped about 300lbs!
this video came up on my feed, so I'll watch it again :)
As someone who has a K20 in a Volkswagen Cabrio, I can 1000% percent agree with a lot that has been said, I would say that the engines are exceptional versatile and usable in lots of platforms. I feel like we are just at the being of K Swaps in odd platforms and I hope to see the aftermarket move into this market.
How difficult was the swap??
OMG I miss reving out to 8000rpm. RIP 2003 RSX Type-S. The hairs on my arms did stick up when you mentioned a K-swapped Magnum PI Ferrari.
Having a normal conversation: “something something seriously...” Siri: “I’ve been summoned”. Happens every time
you guys have done it again.. another grate vid. ideas ideas...
Such an informative video.
Love this video 😎👍🏾 very interesting and informative
Or the k swapped smart car faster proms just built with Brent from PFI?
A first generation lotus elise is a much better K swap platform than the smart car. It weighs about the same as a smart car but is a much better chassis.
@@Plur307 the S1 is one of my all time favorites. I remember in the early 2000's people were importing them "legally" and putting B series motors in them. Then they found out they still weren't legal. That was my dream car back then.
@@leftocastpunx83 Cars can be imported and street legal if they are 25 years old. They can be registered as a classic/collector car and all emissions and crash safety requirements are ignored. So in 2021 a 1996 Elise S1 can be imported and driven legally on the streets of USA.
@@Plur307 I agree, but the Katertot is fast and silly. Probably drives like total garbage because smartcar chassis is not great.

I can hear MR2 purists screaming all across the world.
You should see the shit storm when someone post a k swap mr2 on one of our groups. I personally love the k swap but most mr2 owners hate them for some reason.
@@250hdd I agree its sad that they don't see the pure joy of a k- swapped mr2
If you are talking about SW20 then cramming a 2GR v6 into the back would yield a wider grin at WOT
Have you seen the Boostedboiz K swapped MR2? I don't think anybody can dislike that thing.
trust me in the fb group if you mention k series they fucking slaughter you. only because they know its better then a 3s (coming from a 3s owner ;) )
I used to be huge on the k series (I am midway thru a k20 turbo swap in my lotus 7) but think an LS would have been cheaper. Just the number of v8 parts that are out there has driven the prices down in many areas. I paid $1k for the engine but then you add adapters, ecu’s,harnesses etc and it’s almost a $8-10k swap.
That said- the manual v8 transmission is rarely a cheap option
I’m building a B18c4 Mk2 Golf, Hondas especially over here in the uk were always mocked... unless you had owned one!
I love the way a Honda engine feels, their gearboxes are inspiring compared to other cars of similar cost. And then there’s Vtec, meme of car memes but it does put a smile on our faces 😂
I'm curious, what's the American car scene like over there? e.g. mustangs, corvette, mopar, F150's?
Re-watching this and I really miss your 240. It's such a good looking backdrop car for videos like this. But I get it, too many builds to keep them all.
Can you guys make a video about the 3S from Toyota? I’m interested in swapping my FA20 in my 86 and I’d love to hear you talk about the engine more in-depth
If you want to swap your FRS,BRZ o GT86
Pure automotive just finish their
Kseries swap kit
for a soulful sound out of an inline 4 i think the 4age with itbs is one of the best especially the 20v ones.
I took my "adrenaline junky" friend in a ride in my gutted k20 integra, and he said every gear feels like a slingshot, this could be attributed to the older 60a hasport mounts, but yea, every gear feels like a "slingshot" is very accurate.
Two years ago my good buddy told me to K swap my e36 over LS swapping it and looking back now sometimes I wish I gave the K a chance, especially for the uniqueness of it all
Did you put in the LS?
Nice video guys !!!
oh men i couldn't say it better seriously... & the perfect combo k24 block with k20 head. OMG speechless... just like the old B series with the B18 block with the B16 head nice !!
How difficult would it likely be to put a K Series engine and manual transmission until a 1960 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite. It currently has a 2.0 Pinto engine in it but I blew a valve/cam/piston so I'm trying to figure out if I should fix that or swap to something like this.
Have you guys seen the kswap Throtl is doing with a S2k drive train in an ek??
Look forward to the k swap miata project, you guys should do it as a budget track car.
@1:14 Humble Performance is awesome! They make great power on budget K motors.
Nice video guys.
Hear me out.... ek hatch, mid mounted k with B series awd gearbox(backwards), driving a flipped r200 in the front.
I've wanted to do this forever but don't have the resources . Also not sure how the B would like being driven backwards, but I'd imagine it should work 🙂
Man, I'm shocked at how shitty CoronaChan has made even UA-cam vids. Honestly, seeing you guys back in the same room distinctly elevates the joy I get from watching. Thanks, and I hope you're well. I have a cheap-ish pet project resto-mod ideal for a K-swap... 1974 MG MGB GT. Light, sporting, a considerable aftermarket available... I can dream.
Ok you need to stop everything else and start the GTR Build!!!
You forgot to go over the fact that if you have a k24 block and a k20 head with a rsx type s k 20 oil pump.. you can have the low end torque, and the high end power all together.. mine made 273 with drag cartel 3.2 cams and Wiseco 11:1 compression..
Just imagine if Honda added just more 2 cylinders and made a straight 6, I bet it would be better then a 2JZ or at least on par with it
I can certainly see that if you have something like a 1.6L engine how going up to a 2.4L engine has a lot of appeal, the increase in torque (especially on a light vehicle) is going to make a huge difference. That is without having to go to forced induction in order to make decent power (for a small light vehicle).
You’ve got to do the 308 project
This was interesting - I don't know much about Honda motors. How tall is the K series compared to Connie's Beams? Going RWD from a K series puts the exhaust on the passenger side to get around the steering column & brake booster interference.
That Hey Siri moment ;). Great vid guys
I'm planning a k swap z3. I got a 4cyl with a rough engine. For cheap the k seems perfect for it.
Gonna k24 swap my b5, full NA itb hooked up to the quattro is gonna be so awesome for the snow
When it comes to exhaust size, i have an eg with k24a2 with 3 inch exhaust and it made 215 whp and 175 ft lbs of torque. I also have an ek with the exact same setup and mods but it has a 2.5 inch exhaust..the ek made 220 whp and 181 ft lbs of torque on the same dyno.
could the difference in transmissions, tires and axles played a part?
This question was asked and answered over a decade ago the answer is yes
Hey guys, what do you think about a k swap in a 91 isuzu pickup truck? That's my plan in the near future. Thanks again for the info on this k swap video. 😀
Thank you Rover/ British Leyland
What websites should I use when buying parts for this swap? Engine mounts, ecu, wiring etc etc.
What’s HP vs weight of a LS vs K motor at the 500 HP, because that’s a cam swapped LS low power, so you would need to add the turbo and plumbing intercooler ect weight to match the power level
One of the main reasons I watch and subscribe too your channel. Is you guys come up with the same ideas." K swap rarri"
If swapped a k24 into a rail buggy would I have to have theft took out of the ecm like the ecotec has to have VATS security removed before they will run after removing from the vehicle
Perfect idea !🤘🏻
Would a unequal length header help with the sound
Comes down to personal preference. I don’t like the sound of 4 cylinders but I will not deny the versatility
Have a K20 swapped in a Toyota mr2 Spyder and it is sick! Mid engine rwd

K24 swapped MR2 please!! Either AW11 or SW20 would be awesome. They getting kinda cheap!
K20/K24 powered 308 is a fantastic idea.
And with the right exhaust setup might even sound a bit like a the original V8, since they don't have the high-pitched F1 style wail of the later 348/355 cars. Through some big driving lights on the front and say it's a Group 4 Rally car!
You guys will have to rock big mustache's and Hawaiian shirts every time you drive it though.
boosted boiz is using 2 k24 engines in 2 different mr2s, the white one makes around 1000hp.
It is a respectable engine, you get it all, power, fun, torque, reliability and it is affordable :)
I was actually thinking of swapping the K20C4 engine into my Honda Civic sedan (K20C2) lack of parts and a turbo kit for the engine
I really want to build a very early base model E46 Coupe with a K24 as a fast road/track car. With a GT3 Vibe. Slightly stripped, buckets, half cage, no AC, no power anything.
Guys, check out BoostedBois out of Colorado. They are the K-junkies, and not like the ones we remember stumbling and mumbling back in college. These guys do some crazy stuff, 1000hp MR2 K swapped drag car, K swapped STI (Hondaru) with 700+hp and sequential shifter. I'm sure you've seen their stuff.
