My thing is, it isnt about "who wore it first" or "who did it first" it's the fact that we were fired, harassed, bullied, killed, refused jobs for wearing our natural hair, our protective hair styles and using AAVE because it comes natural to a lot of us (like in my case), but now all of a sudden it's cute, funny, and made popular NOT EVEN BY US! 😑
Like how I was born and raised in Gary, Indiana and when I moved to a predominantly white city, I tried changing how I spoke, how I said my name, and what i did to my hair
History has a way of repeating itself.

Buy RE in upcoming black neighborhoods, restore the old ones, or create a new one and then provide economic opportunities there. Political agitation will only drain you with nothing to show for it. I can’t speak much to it, I’m not black so I’m more just sharing thoughts, but I feel that the real issue is it’s so hard to tell sometimes if someone was genuinely surrounded by the culture their whole life or if they are just doing things to try to seem “cool”. And we see a lot of times black people being pushed out of spaces for white people portraying themselfs as ambiguous, I’m assuming making it even more annoying when you see people getting praised for things they look down on others for. Coming from E . Africa, we have our own issues i know and am probably not remotely aware of AA issues. Recently i noticed this obsession with black culture and appropriation etc, i reckon this is what the top people in the us are pushing to you guys making you focus on this and lose focus on the institutional injustices happening. My two cents.

A lot of these trailer park hill billies call themselves hood just because they grew up poor and ghetto. Second, I am black, grew up in the hood, surrounded by hood niggas, but I don't speak in AAVE then. I can turn it on if I want to, but my natural speak is the standard American dialect. Growing up in the hood doesn't automatically mean you speak like that and can't help it. A lot of these people can help it, but they don't care and they choose to speak in that way.

I completely agree with everything she and Dee said but when she said that phrase in 9:13 it sounded very Caribbean and I know that because I’m Caribbean myself. But anyways the one part I disagree on and have always disagreed on is when black people of any Caribbean island for example Jamaica, Trinidad, or Bahamas come to the United States and adapt to the (African American) culture they say as she said “is ours” which I agree it’s THEIR’S because I know for a fact they don’t use their same slang in the islands or create it (and if they do, it’s because it traveled through music or social media as black culture has traveled all around the world numerous times). But then when a Black Puerto Rican, Dominican, or Cuban uses that slang or culture because we also grew up here in the hood we are appropriating, we are not black, we are Latinos and that’s it. So yea there’s a double standard when it comes to Caribbean people in America but I agree with what she says, especially when it comes to white people profiting off black culture.
