Jason lived in the penthouse shortly before Sonny came back in '99 (for a time before that, Jason lived in Sonny's PH after Sonny left). Jason left in 2000 after Sonny slept with Carly, after he left, Alexis moved into the PH until June 2002, after her and Sonny had their falling out, then Jason moved back in.
During this time, Jason was not on the show. I can't remember why exactly why he left this time (well, besides Steve Burton wanting to do something else for a while).
@faye6tank Jason used to live in a room above Jakes and he actually lived there for a while. I can't remember if Alexis or just Kristina lived in PH2 I do know that it was vacated after Kristina died then Jason moved in.
