  • The new addition to NZ's Cupra Formentor line up is the base model V. It may have a few less horses under the bonnet, but the V has all the family's good looks, charm and is still a thrill to drive.

Have this exact model in this colour. The DSG gearbox is great and in sport mode feels quicker than 150 ps. Never had a problem with the infotainment system except when on a bumpy road and trying to use the touchscreen. However it is essentially a large mobile phone...and we all know it is illegal to use a phone when you're driving. Could the police prosecute if you were found to have caused an accident while using it?😮

Thanks for watching and comments - really appreciate it when owners comment (we only get them for a week). Great to hear that it's as quick as it looks, Cupra is a rising star we feel - Don't think using the screen while driving is an offence, nor is eating a pie, strange world we live in. Cheers again.

I have this car in the VZ2 310 bhp version, yes it is very good but there's that infotainment system that's full of bugs and does some weird stuff like not letting you enter the car, or it can make random phone calls to even slamming the brakes on for no apparent reason whatsoever are just a few examples and the dealers can't fix the faults.
VW know about this problem as it's a similar problem across their range of cars fitted with this infotainment system but the Formentor has many electrical niggles that need sorting, what are VW doing about it? Very little

In Australia this V model costs around AUD 50K before tax, but also we have Skoda here, which the Karoq Sport with 2.0L engine 140KW costs also 52K drive away and Karoq style with the same engine as Formentor V 1.5 Tsi 110KW costs AUD 44K. and it is bigger car, so I am not sure if this Seat will be sold here in Australia with success or they will pull out of Australian market same as Opel did it couple years ago.

Thanks for your comment, it's an interesting point as yes it's the same engine but the brand is positioned differently (despite its family connections). SEAT is withdrawing from what we've heard so Cupra will have to focus on becoming a full on performance brand and offering something with less horsepower is a strange move but will get people interested (the VZ is $69k here). Also Opel has just relaunched here as a low/no emission brand.
