It genuinely pains me to see you struggle with that particular model of hooksetter, I've experienced the same thing. If you loosen the trigger all the way and use your thumb to pry the plastic arms apart a little bit, you can get a sheet of sandpaper in there to clean up the edges that make contact between the trigger and the arm to the left of it. I also oil mine in that spot, seems to have fixed it. I'll be the first to say that hooksetter is bad and it's absolutely worth it to just buy a jawjacker or a predator, it feels like it's designed from the outset to break fast and be thrown away.

those ht jaw jackers hardly work my buddy had a 26" tiger trout that never set one off on a super light setting only reason he caught the fish is because it hooked itself and we heard the drag peeling out of the rod. That being said the real jaw jacker has never not worked.

Hey bud...first time on your channel...your great...NICE FISH...March 5th got my first 50+inch pike..(I live in alberta)...you have a sense of humor you will love vid of my fish...you tube titled
"Gigantic nothern pike March 2022"...DO NOT WATCH WITH KIDS...sorry for language...we lost our nut...scale at end was rusted and bottomed out at 23.5 lbs....fish was mid 30's...please check it out and let us know of what you think...caught it on 8lb test line...pickerel rig with 6lb snelled trout hooks...was not prepared at all ...total sh#% show...will be watching you channel...from my igloo on the mountain.
