Those amps sound incredible.
Robbie Robertson forever ! The Band forever!
this is the same strat from the last waltz, and yes it is real bronze.
Fender is releasing a limited (40) number of replicas
Robbie Robertson what are the intro chords? C. Bb. ??
RR, you’ve been in LA forever; do you miss 🇨🇦?
T-Bone, G.E. Smith and Robbie Robertson - does it get any better? Too bad they cut it short for TV. RIP, T-Bone.
RIP Robbie Robertson...in a league of their own, The Band was...
Robbie wrote this song and it's one of the very best of The Band, but he really should not sing. We all remember all too well what Richard and Levon made of it. I'm pretty sure GE and Bone did a far better job at singing this song, if the SNL producers had given us more than just a snippet. Still Robbie is a real guitar hero (and so is GE).
T Bone Wolk R.I.P. Love Robbie Robertson.
RIP Robbie Robertson 😢
Come back, Robbie. It's cold here without you. 😢
What's all this about Robbie's voice? None of the truly great singing in The Band was ever about hitting the notes and singing in a clear, nice voice. None of it. They all sounded very much alive and vulnerable. They backed up Dylan for Gods sake, he taught them that vocals were about so much more than hitting the notes and sounding beautiful in the conventional sense of the word.
He sings phrase here and it just sounds alive to me. And to those of you who are complaining still, listen to his vocals on his first solo album. Maybe he just didn't sing because there was no need, not because he couldn't.
And damn, those guttural noises as he's playing his guitar! I always thought his playing sounded like it came from deep within his body and well, it does.
Me want more of this clip.
Robbie's a fantastic guitar player no doubt about it.. but there's a reason the singing was left to rick, richard, and levon! Lmao
Yeah there's a reason he didn't sing into a live mic
A day
Geñius
Damn robbie, those guttural noises
when the snl band was fun.
The SNL band are still great, they just don't get alot of air time anymore.
The bass player is playing a fretless ampeg just like Rick...
Good call there, on point!
T-Bone was very aware of the history of that song
They forgot to turn off his mic! As in the last waltz ^^
@@cassidy-beaukitt1972 That's cetrainly not true. Levon was a great drummer and a fantastic singer, but not a songwriter at all. Robbie wrote most of the stuff and the end result was a group effort.
@@gjs9441 lol compare robbies solo music with levons solo music.
@@cassidy-beaukitt1972 Yes I did ! I know Robbie's and Levon's solo albums by heart, I love them and I know who wrote their tracks. Robbie is a great guitarist and an even greater songwriter (and a very bad singer). Levon was a fantastic drummer, singer and arranger. He did not write his songs himself, but he was able to transform them into wonderful gems. Although all five Band members contributed to the shape and sound of their songs (especially Garth Hudson!), most of them were written by Robertson, some by Dylan or Richard Manuel en very few by Rick Danko. Still Levon was one of the main driving forces of The Band. It's a shame that this loveable person became such a bitter man after The Last Waltz.
@@cassidy-beaukitt1972 That's what he kept saying.
@@cassidy-beaukitt1972 He didn't have to. As much as I admire Levon, he had only to blame himself for his financial problems. And now for something completely different. I always loved GE and T-Bone for the fun they had in playing with no matter who on SNL. You can see that here too.
This short clip reminds as where vocals were concerned, good thing Robbie hadn’t given-up his day job…
Robbie snippets well, but the song deserves more.
Robbie knows how to rip shit up!
Ten-to-one none of the yuppies in the audience got the significance of Robbie playing a Band classic.
HIs voice gave out there, but his guitar never disappoints.
He never had a voice in the first place
He was doing scat singing. He wasn’t actually trying to sing the song.
@@sratus I the book, Wheels of Fire it said that Robbies mic was turned off.
He wasn’t singing except for that one line. He was playing guitar
Ok? What’s your point? It’s not like he pretended to be some great singer. He has asthma.
ha ha..well said!
Anybody know where to find robbie , the edge, David Sanborn SNL performances?
no Levon or Richard = no King Harvest
No Robbie = No Band
@@elenabrodskaya7328 I'd argue that taking away any of the 5 members = No Band
That’s why this is called a “snippet”. He wasn’t doing the whole song...just the solo.
Awesome!!!!!
Wow, he had another bronze strat made... I wonder if it was real bronze & as heavy as the Last Waltz strat.
Easy to see why Robbie wasn't the lead singer of the Band.
しっかりしてほしいこの人には
pretty rad
grunting Robbie. that's why they turned him down low on mic
It's a guitarist thing, you wouldn't understand
Your mouth understands 👌
Too bad they did actually. The grunting is way cool.
More please!!
Robbie always had a terrible voice and he screwed The Band over royalties
k3304 get over it for fuck sake
Well, he did write all those tunes. And, on top of that Rick, Richard, and Levon willingly sold their royalty shares to Robbie for quick $$. Those three also had major heroin habits. Not a lot of clear decision making at the time.
k3304 Did he really though? He wrote lyrics and most of the music if not at least the chord changes, which is kinda writing the whole song. If you knew anything about how music royalties and publishing work you would know that. The other members got credited where they were supposed to. The other guys outside of Richard really weren't writers, they were amazing singers/ musicians who also happen to complement the fuck out of each other. Save that stuff for Apple Music and Spotify, they industrialized fucking artists over, but you seem fine about that?
Joeseph bs. Rick, levon, and Richard were junkies, but robbie never payed them for the royalty rights. Dont make shit up. Why didnt garth get a dime from robbie then? Seriously i have heard directly from the son of levons good friend. Robbie cheated them out of publishing rights by only using his name. Facts.
BULLSHIT! k3304 BULLSHIT!
Awful
Just don't sound right 😕 no Manuel no Helm no Danko no Hudson no good, níl maith
