Very well done. The only thing I can think of is that some folks will want to know what's involved in changing the brace to the various SBA braces. This info is available online, but some people won't know where to find it. But that's just a suggestion, it's not a criticism. Good job.
Thank you. We are going to do a 1000 round review so we can totally do it then. We appreciate the feed back!
I'm one of those newbies interested where this brace info might be. I know Extar doesn't recommend, but still interested. thanks. great vid BTW.
Can gen 2 accept Glock 26 mags? 26 is what I have and wondering if I could interchange the mags.
No the 10 round mags are to short to engage the mag catch
Why not show us the buffer and spring? That is where the magic happens, right? They did big cost savings going to their own brace blade. Gave some of the savings back with the new steel fire control group.
Great video. A lot of other vids talk about the Gen2 but don't discuss differences. Doh!
How are you folks dealing with the brace? I pulled mine off so far. Not filing anything with this rediculous ATF ruling! Simply awful!
We pulled it off for now and we believe justice will prevail.
@@FamilyFirearmReviews Ditto. I am hearing that Extar may come out with a new longer barrel option as well.
They have that weird barrel extension. I am not a fan. Haha
@@FamilyFirearmReviews I have seen the receiver ext but NOT a barrel extension. Hmmmm
I saw a guy do this. New 16 inch faux upper and the milspec Extar adjustable rear buffer tube assembly.
It basically replaces the barrel. Extending it to "legal" length.
I really appreciate your fast response and help.
Enjoy your channel
Thanks for the review! I have the Gen 1, which BTW I bought just after it went up to the current price. Glad to hear about the Gen 2's metal trigger: my Gen 1 performed flawlessly, until I ran steel-cased ammo through it, and it started to malfunction and had poor trigger action. So I got the Palmetto State Armory polished trigger, and it seems better now (no more steel-cased for me!). Also, glad to hear that the owner's manual has been updated: reading through mine, there comes a point where it seems to be describing a different gun than the EP9.
I wish you'd shown the new muzzle device in more detail.
In some of the video, the brace seems to have a strap. In other parts of the video, it's just a piece of plastic. I'd like to see more about it.
It does have the Velcro strap we just remove it some sections and we can show some more overviews when we do a 1000 round review. We will be sure to go over muzzle device and how we thought it preformed.
Thanks for the review! I wonder what the weight of the bolt is?
Good comparison, please would you like to show us how to do a good cleaning after several hundred bullets, I have checked and there is no appropriate video on it.
We are almost 1000 rounds and we will definitely do a cleaning video. She should be fairly dirty at that point and we can check out how everything looks inside. Thanks For Checking our the channel.
Greetings. By far the best video hands down for showing highlights of both weapons. I have a Gen 2 and I am looking at either the MLOK or Diamondback AFG. Will either one of these mount directly to the underside of the handguard or will I need a picatinny rail? Thanks for your time and effort!
Awesome video. Cleared up all of my questions
Do you think having the longer handguard on the Gen 2 covering the threads of the barrel would make if more difficult to add a suppressor?
No I don't believe so. The hand guard opening is pretty wide. You should be able to run any suppressor you want. It might even act like a guide!
Great explanation of the new modifications, you can show info about the red dot you have, there are many manufacturers of poor quality, it would be good, thanks!
Thanks for the review.
Their authorized dealer network in Spring,Tx (Houston) is not good, unfortunately. I'm being linked to stores that are closed or about to close.
You can have it shipped to any FFL they just have to confirm them is all. I am sure they haven't updated their database due to the insane nature of the 2020's. I hope you find an FFL and get one they are a blast!
Can the "brace" on the gen 2 be removed to run it with just the buffer tube if someone wanted to?
Yes it can
Do you think it would negatively impact the recoil of the gun if you put a Gen 1 compensator on the Gen 2 gun? I was hoping you would show what that looked like.
We can totally do that this weekend. We will be wrapping up the filming of the 1000 round review
@@FamilyFirearmReviews awesome! I'll be looking forward to that.
The brakes do essentially nothing on these guns.
The new muzzle device sends tje sound down range, but that's about it.
My gen 2 just came in sir but know adjustable trigger did they sell me an old one
I'm not sure. I have heard they have some different variations of the gen 2. Seems weird, but the grips change, and now the trigger. It's strange they keep changing it up. Maybe it's parts availability?
Will the gen2 fire control group fit into gen1?
I have test fitted it at the house and yes it fits. I have not taken it out to the range yet. When I actually fire it I will confirm with you if it works 100%. But at first glance it looks like it will work.
Personally I kinda like the aesthetics of the gen 1 it looks more tactile, but prefer the gen 2 mlok over the gen one, and I like how the handguard extends over the end of the barrel. the only issue I have is I am "a poor" and to tell you the truth, cannot afford either. I cannot even afford a HiPoint carbine. oh well!! life of being a useless pathetic loser I guess, but I can always fantasize about owning an Extar EP9 one of these days.. great contented guys the Extar is of one of my favorite topics..
Just a thought: Can't you order through a gun dealer that allows a 3 month payoff (or longer)? That way you could make small monthly payments. Today's USA requires you to protect yourself and family because of the now-Fascist government who's promoting death and decay.
Wonder if u can still get a gen1 for cheaper
I haven't seen it on the extar site. But I did see one in the local gun store for 425 I believe.
I read somewhere that the Gen 2 has ambidextrous charging handles.
No unfortunately it is not ambi. Maybe on the Gen3 we will get that upgrade.
I want a Gen2!!!
interesting... my gen 1 came with the grip that your gen 2 has.
Did you buy your gen1 recently? That is cool to know thanks for sharing.
Love this gun.
One of my favorites at the range
What is the inside diameter of the handguard on the gen 2?
I will check this evening a get the measurement to you.
@@FamilyFirearmReviews thanks
@@Bigfoot903Outdoors it s 1 5/8 id. the hand guard is a bit squared off in the inside.
Good review. I have the Gen 1 which I like but I wish I had waited for the Gen 2. I definitely like the upgrades.
The Gen2 is great and the up grades are worth it! Hope you get one.
They sell the upgrades on the website
@@johnstarr1990 That is good to know. They did not do that originally when they released the Gen2.
My EP9's are my grab it and go guns. They go bang when you pull the trigger and are just so fun to shoot.
They are great shooters. I have not had any problems with my gen 1 or 2 the whole time I have had them
Hello sir nice content but will the gen1 handguard fit on the gen2 just happen to like it better thanks
Yes they are interchangeable. Should not be a problem.
Awesome comparison thank you! 😁👍
Your welcome!
Can you add anything to the stock to add some length? I have long arms and I rather get another 2” if I could to make it more comfortable
They do make a way to swap.out the buffer tube.
@@FamilyFirearmReviews
Well… I’m a cheap ass and that adapter is $80 plus the tube plus the brace. I’m a father of 3 that is looking for something fun to do with my boys that works with my existing 9mm ammunition.
I have a ATI Bullpup shotgun that is around 29” inches and that is a bit short. Now it weights 100lbs so that’s a whole different story. Lol
I just don’t want to spend $500 and not like the feel of it. No one around me has one
If you add the sob brace it’ll give you at least 3”.
@@AllThingsLoud_ what ?!!
@@AllThingsLoud_ Okay thanks .
That looks like the EXACT brace that’s on Gen 1.
Questions
1. Same as Gen 1?
2. If not is it actually longer?
3. Is it adjustable?
Can you show how to remove the brace and how it locks in place?
I'll make a short on the gen 2 tomorrow and show it.
@@FamilyFirearmReviews awesome 👏 I need more LOP because I am longer arm person. The EP buffer tube is completely round and I am trying to figure out how those braces they recommend that are compatible even lock into place. I’m trying to figure out how I can either extend the butt plate on the stock or simply get an aftermarket tactical brace and put it on to my specific length. But in order to do that, I don’t understand how it’s locking into place.
They make a buffer tube swap piece that you can switch out a d put and adjustable brace on
@@FamilyFirearmReviews lol
I’m cheap. That adapter is $60-$80 then the tube and stock. I rather spend my money on rounds. Also I rather keep the stock tube for now for the proper recoil
It has a little slot in the rear it slide into I will pill mine off the gen 2 tomorrow and show it.
What's a better optic for these?
I run a sig green dot romeo msr. Nothing expensive about $80.
Has anyone shot with p+ self defense ammo on the new generation ?
We have not yet but we can add that to the next review. We have shot 115 gr, 124gr, and 147gr ammo. I know we have shot +p ammo out of the gen 1 with no issue.
@@FamilyFirearmReviews thank you
