Thank you for this video. I have been studying for a little over a year now and I have been feeling stuck because there is no gurdwara where I live. I am still not sure what to do but Waheguru and being a Sikh speaks to me in ways that I have never felt before. I know inside this is my path and I am trying to figure out what to do next. Being from a Hindu family, my mom is totally against me being slowly adopting sikhi. She taunts me on my beard growth and me going to Gurdwara every day.
My love for sikhi has only grown since last 1 year.
Surely I'll take Amrit once after graduation and prove it to my parents..

    I was in similar situation
I have also started practicing Sikhi , no one in my family (except me) is a Keshdhari, no one has long hairs, no one wear turban.
Connect with Naam is most important thing (as per me).
With Sikhi Swarup it's a identity by Gurusahib any Sikh is instantly identified, so it not unnatural for family members to feel strange and oppose to Sikhi.
But your life is your sovereignty if you are ethically and morally right you must practice what you like.
My own experience i am sharing how i started practicing Sikhi:
God is one what is written in Hindu spritual scriptures (unedited in orignal form) is same into Sikh holy ... ( I would not say book(s) as it's living Guru).
I don't know when I was in first year of my Engineering how I accidentally listened to Bhagwad Mahapuran (also called as Amrit katha/ Pancham ved/ Amar katha/ Moksha katha )so I got connected to Naam
( The sadhan of moksha in Kalyug,
Kalyug kewal naam aadhara sumir sumair
Nar ( nar means human)utrai paara,
Kalyug kewal Hari gun gaana sumir sumir nar utrai paara,
In Bhagwat Mahapuran listened to below mentioned kathas-
    (The katha of Ajamil,
The katha of Kalyug and King Parakshit ( I found this as most logical and a Kalyugi person must listen, it connects you instantly to Naam))
Even before knowing Sikhi I didn't wanna cut my hairs.
I eventually come to know about Sikhi through videos on Gurudwara culture and traditions.
Such things happened that I come across Sikhi automatically without myself having plans to know about it.
I wanted to practice and implement it after knowing about it.
I asked some Sikhs that I wanna practice Sikhi
They told me to think as Sikhs do not ask anyone to practice, but if anyone wanna practice by will anybody can. I wanted to practice by own choice.
But as I was still studying I have to live as per my family's will and they were against keeping long hairs.
So unfortunately I couldn't practice it in the beginning.
But things changed eventually I got job in company in another city.
When I became independent I started practicing it against will of my family as it's my life and it has to be my rules (just keep in mind you are not having intension to hurt anyone / damage anyone)
And I started eventually practicing SIKHI.
    THANKS A LOT TO WAHEGURU.
    Waheguru really knows everything.
WITH YOUR BLESSINGS I GOT NAAM.
God is yet the perfect as always was and always be perfect one.
I HAVE NO DOUBT WHATSOEVER THAT GOD IS ONE.
Many call him Narayan, some call Venkatesh, some call, Vitthal, some call Ram,
some Waheguru, some call Shiv, some call Shoknashan and many more names are there for GOD.
The names of the one almighty.....

With time families come to accept and understand. A lot of the time they also change too. Most important thing at the beginning of your journey is to show them you are following it properly and that you are actually changing as a person. Show them how Sikhi has made you a better person than what you was before. Do ardas too for Guru jis guidance and help.

Vaheguru 🤍 A much needed video, wish i had this last year 🙏 but Daas's advice is to have patience and have Mokham (determination) and Himmat (strength). Parents have this fear out of love and it may be hard to understand that.
Your job is to build your sikhi. You will have the duty of representing what it means to be a Sikh so make it positive. Change your habits inline with Gurmat- stop swearing, do more housework, listen to parents, less arguing, be kind etc. This will naturally have a warming effect on them.
Find sangat (even online) to support you throughout as they will guide you correctly
Have support of kirtan and katha and baani aswell.
Learn about shaheeds too. This will build your love for Sikhi, give strentg and inspiration and make you not want to give up.
The process may take time, but at the end you will realise it was worth it and is nothing compared to dying for the sikhi that many did die for.🤍
I hope maharaj Blesses us all to increase our Sikhi and build of faith and strength 🤍

With Guru's Grace and Amritdari neighbors I am understanding sikhi and doing nitnem but growing hairs and covering head makes it difficult for family to understand, they feel to keep to your heart and don't resemble outside avatar. I already have a lot of physical issues which is making my life worst and with facial hair it will become more worst as i once tried to keep it for months but people kept bothering me and I had to listen to them.
Bhenji I have immense respect but zero confidence and can't fight with everyone.

You will definately come one day.
    Believe my words.
See my personal experience in the other comment here for same video.
Guru is really perfect he will do justice at some point if you are true.
But i have seen people who are coming to Gurudwaras since childhood like for 20+ years but not practicing Sikhi.
While some others not even going to Gurudwaras from 2 years but start practicing Sikhi?
( I really do not know how this happens)
But one thing definately i will say

Baba Guru Nanak, who is revered by Sikhs and Muslims alike, was the first Sikh Muslim. The part of Guru Granth written by Baba Guru Nanak is nothing but Naat in honor of the Prophet (May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him). Baba Guru Nanak has also done the holy pilgrimage of Haj and called the Azaan in the House of Allah in Makkah. His teachings were all aimed at bringing Hindus closer to Islam and in the process building bridges between the Muslim and Hindu community in India. May Allah accept his efforts and give understanding to everyone who follow Baba Guru Nanak.

Wrong a Muslim is one who declares faith by shahada. Guru sahib also called Muslims fools for fasting.

It's not compulsory to practice Islam.
No one can ask to follow any sect.
Is Islam so weak that it needs support of people to ask other people to practice it and that too by force???
