I was born in Athens but we moved to Glyfada in the early 70s to mid 80s.
When waking around town planes would fly so low over our heads it seemed like we could reach up and touch them, the runways of the old Hellinikon airport were just two blocks over from St. Eleni church! And the Macdonald’s on the corner was AB Vasilopulos supermarket where we got our groceries.
A lot of things have changed since I lived in Glyfada but quite a few remain the same.
Τhe biggest change for me is the silence from the absence of planes!
Thank you for this awesome video❤

I remember ανατολικο αεροδρομιο, I used to fly there most weekends from the UK when i was dating my wife, and flights were a little cheaper!. Thank you for your kind comments, it means a lot from someone who lived there and knows it, to try and catch any of the vibe of the place is tricky, especially with the traffic!!

05:55 I have been living in Glyfada for more than 20 years. Amazing what you mention about Onassis, very few people know this information about him. Very good job !

So I'm getting a digital nomad visa soon for Greece, living here for about 6 months. Is English widely spoken in Glyfada? I'd assume so as everything I'm reading about Athens and surrounding areas is a good English understanding

Yes, generally everyone under 40 will speak some English, though they may choose not to. have a look at Kalamata and Patras as well, cheaper than Athens, more relaxed and yet good infrastructure etc for digital nomads

Just know that Glyfada mayor is the mayor of the car drivers, not of people, let alone when they walk or - god forbid - cycle. I live in upper Glyfada and only like to walk and hike on the mountain behind

On what i see I would have to agree, mayors are always people of the local public opinion in Greece!...........

You Always seem to appreciate Greece than the local Greeks, You have become more Greek than the Greeks'
