I've been playing Frozen Orb / Energy Shield Sorceress all day. Virtually unkillable 😆 PS. I didn't plan to start ladder with a Sorceress, but this has changed now they fixed the bug.

Man insaw ur live stream the other day and saw ur chinchilla. That's got to be the coolest damn thing I ever saw. I always wanted one. I had rsbbits and stuff before. Ur right about it looking like a real life picachue. I also had a pet gray squirrel I raised from a tiny baby. He would sleep in my shirt just like ni ni. Miss that fella.
For ES sorc I always use act 2 prayer merc with insight. Prayer gives ~20 life replenish and insight doubles that as prayer is synergy for meditation. Combine that with somewhat decent poison resist and it stops being an issue. So much in fact, that I dont bother carrying life potions, only 1 row of full rejuvs, 1 row of mana and 2 rows tp/id scrolls. When I get infinity, it's still fine, but just for those nasty beefy poisons you can keep some antidotes.
on my ES sorc ( Only play hardcore ) I always keep a stack of antidotes on my belt - and doing this makes you not even really need to itemize for poison res. It can be annoying to have to goto town to refill the antidotes when you run out, but if you're really min-maxing your build...it's kind've a necessary evil. Often you can refill the belt slots just from antidotes you find on the ground as well, just have to get them through your mental loot filter which normally just glazes over them lol.
FYI: a sorc cannot equip both cyclone armor and bone armor at the same time (I've tried). You can however have one of those and fade at the same time. I prefer the CA to the week BA from wasting two um runes on bone runeword. Much better to equip your sorc with an infinity in a scythe (I use an eth one for extra swag points) and use the charges of CA. I miss being able to summon oak Spirit from hoto and then swap to something else like eachuta or CM but it poofs now 😢 Also: using smite on your assassin makes her do a backflip 😂
Hello again! if it comes to socketing gear for the Immortal Sorceress Energy Shield, would you rather put in Sol for Damage reduction, Mal for Magic damage reduction or Sapphires for additional Mana into your gear? My thoughts are DR or MDR is preferred, because a very high Mana pool is good vs very high single damage attacks and the mana pool should be high enough by other gear like frostburn, SoJ etc. to be safe against single high damage attacks whereas DR and MDR prevents all attacks to reduce the health pool if they are incomming in fast. for example if you port into a mob, then you receive a lot of attacks in a short time and the last 5% kinda always go through the ES making it more beneficial to have DR and MDR. furthermore, additional Mana can be supplemented with Mana charms, which on the other hand is not possible to have MDR/DR for charms. so what are your thoughts?

What about using the plague runeword on the es sorc? You will get cleansing Aura to help you against poison and a chance to cast lower res that will help the damage?

So energy shield is bad if you don’t really need it up. You end up increasing the total damage you receive split between health and mana in the low levels.
As annoying as mana burn packs are, its removing a mod on the unique that could be making that pack more dangerous like extra strong, cursed, fanat, etc. It's pretty hard for the uniques to roll mana burn AND the other dangerous stuff at the same time.
Same place as physical damage reduced. Absorbtion is basically just pdr and made with extra steps. So 8 fire absorb would be in the same place as magic damage reduced by. The 8 heal on the absorb doesn't take effect until after the damage hits your life pool.
I'd think infinity on sorc, insight on merc makes the most sense. Unless you want to be as tanky as possible for the meme of it, the kill speed is just so worth it. Insight also gives some decent healing over time, especially if your ES is taking so much of the damage.
Its dangerous because one hit can burn enough mana to deprive you from the ability to teleport out of troubles and u end with no mana in the middle of the enemy group.
Not anymore, so in the past mana burn was bugged to deal 256 times the damage to mana than it was supposed to. Mana burn was finally fixed, it still burns mana but no longer at 256 times the rated value. Example 200 damage now does 200 mana burn Instead of 200x256= 25600

At low levels, when your mana pool isn't well estabilished yet its easy to trap yourself in such situation. Sorry for language, i'm Polish. Anyway thanks for answer. So if I have a max level Energy Shield that absorbs 95% and I use a item that has 5% damage taken to mana, I would have 100% Energy Shield absorb right?
No, damage taken goes to mana only activates when the damage hits your hp pool. So a practical example would be this. 100 dmg incoming -95% ES = 5 damage left. Your HP pool takes 5 damage and 5% of 5 damage would add to mana. As I said during the video the higher your energy shield the less effective damage taken goes to mana is. The way to bridge the remaining 5% is with physical damage reduced by and magic damage reduced by flat numbers. For instance if you take 100 damage with ES and -95% = 5 damage. With 5 damage reduced by the 5 becomes 0 and no damage goes to health. If you want to know more about damage taken goes to mana check out my video on the subject.

That's a good question, honestly don't know if you can. After act 3 normal most staves spawns blue which means no memory runeword. I also don't think even if you bought a staff from a low lvl vendor with +3 es would it get 4 sockets which means no. I am pretty sure you need to find it
I played hardcore plenty lost lots of characters too. My lifestyle doesn't fit in the hardcore land. My girlfriend, dog, cat, chinchilla would just get me killed among other things.

I personally enjoy sitting at 1 health. Scares your party members and increases swag points.

Now I remember why I hated it. Pretty difficult making a sorc using passion and dual dream runewords and not dying in the process.
Mana burn made ES sorcs practically impossible.
Not so difficult anymore with mana burn fixed.
I use telekinesis a bunch, you can loot chests and whatnot, I use it to hit waypoints form a distance, saving .5 seconds off runs ;)

sol runes tend to be the primary one for ES sorcs, there is an exact number you want to reach but I can't remember it off the top of my head

It can be a very interesting build, immortal sorc is a thing, as well as ES without immortality

Energy Shield can go well with a lot of builds.
But I think it goes best with firewall/enchant because of the warmth synergy.

Yeah especially if you don't build the telekinesis synergy to reduce the output to mana.
Warmth + telek + lvl 1 energy shield is a great combo

Did you consider "damage taken as mana"? Maybe we could only transfer part of dmg to mana (less then 95%) but then recoup the mana lost direkctly.
It could work but in the end you still take the damage to your health.
Building MDR and PDR allows you to avoid the damage to your health
is that mana burn bug already fixed?? Then it wound be a good test, if you had looked out for a mana burn group and tested the mana burn.

I have a level 17 meditation bow which converts to 700% mana regen. How does that stack with warmth with 200% regen?
