Thank you Timmy. I will bookmark this video as I'm using a Chromebook. Wish I'd seen this before I did a powerwash on my old chromebook as I lost all my documents and bookmarks. That chromebook's battery died a few weeks later, so I started using this one, a spare chromebook I'd bought from a friend, but had only used before for a brief time. The good news is - when I was using it briefly about 5 - 6 months ago, it seems I DID put my chromebook account onto it! So when I had to start using it recently as my only internet capable computer (I have a real old Dell desktop with Windows 2000 on it. Internet doesnt work (It's from dial up days), but I do all my writing on it.) all my bookmarks and documents I'd saved, magically re-appeared! I was so happy as I thought I'd lost them forever.
I'm 73 years old and not tech savvy at all. I have a question for you. My first chromebook with the battery that, died and doesn't work any more. Is it possible for me to buy a new battery for it, and install it?? It would be nice to have it as back-up.
I will bookmark this video as it is extremely helpful to me. Thank you, Timmy!

Unfortunately most laptops aren't designed to be able to have the batteries replaced these days. So there's probably not much you could do about it. If you took it to a local computer repair shop they might be able to pull the whole Chromebook apart and replace the battery, but it would probably cost quite a bit more than the computer is worth.

@@techtimewithtimmy Thank you, Timmy! I hope someday also that you will make a video about how to choose a printer for a chromebook. As I said in my earlier e-mail, I'm using an old Dell desktop with Windows 2000 to do my writing. But the old Pixma printer I had stopped working recently as well, as the nozzles were clogged and I couldn't unclog them. For now, I only need to e-mail my writing,, so I put it on a thumb drive (actually this is what I was doing on my old Chromebook with the dead battery, I'm assuming this will also work on the chromebook I'm now using.) In any case, I will soon need a printer that I'll set up on my chromebook, but continue to write on my old desktop as I am used to it, it's in another room where I like to write in. I don't know anything about buying a printer for a chromebook. Does it have to be compatible with the company that makes the computer? (I have a Lenovo) - or just be chromebook compatible??
I don't have bluetooth either. I can agree to install it through my settings, but I never had a need for bluetooth and don't even know what it does. I won't bother you any more. You just make everything so clear and don't speak at warp speed like many computer help channels do. Also you tell people the basics, which a lot of us don't know, but the "experts" just assume everybody does. Thank you again for your help.

I might make a video on that someday. But for the time being, the manufacturer of the Chromebook doesn't really matter, you just need a printer that will be compatible with the Chrome OS software, so if a printer is compatible with one Chromebook, it will be compatible with all of them.
Fortunately most new printers are compatible with Chromebooks, so it's really more about choosing a printer with the features, quality, and price you want.
Here's a link to an article about the best printers for Chromebooks:
      www.rtings.com/printer/reviews/best/chromebook
(I don't specifically know if these are the best, but it does list out multiple different printers that all work with Chromebooks).
And yes, you will still be able to use a thumb drive to transfer documents to your new Chromebook, it should work just the same.
There's a chance the new Chromebook won't have a USB A port, so you wouldn't be able to plug the thumb drive directly into the Chromebook, you would need a USB-C to USB A adapter to physically connect the thumb drive to the Chromebook:
      amzn.to/3RcDwNx
But hopefully your new Chromebook has a USB A port, so it will work exactly the same.

    Thanks for the video!
Is there a way to actually block that “remove user” option from appearing? My son keeps removing his account …

Unfortunately there's no way to do that as far as I know. The "owner" account can't be removed, so in theory you could factory reset the Chromebook and set it up with your son's account being the owner. Then there would be no remove option on his account.
But that would be quite a lot of work to do, and you probably don't want to make his account the owner account anyway.

Sorry, the only way to remove an owner account is to factory reset it. But I have a series of videos that shows you how to back up and restore everything. So once you're finished, everything will be back to normal, but your Mom's account won't be on there.

thank you. i had 3 accounts but it only let me remove 1. i cant seem to remove the other unused account,

It sounds like the one you can't remove is probably an owner account, as shown at the end of this video. Unfortunately, the only way to remove that one would be to factory reset the Chromebook and then set it up again with the account you want as the owner.

You can do that by following the steps in this video:
      ua-cam.com/video/5sLotE2Vtb8/v-deo.html
But before you do, you'll probably want to back everything up as shown in this video:

      Hope this helps.

Will it be possible to remove your account from the Chromebook without removing it from your Google pixel phone? Because i accidentally linked it together but i don't want to lose my account on my phone.help.

Yes, don't worry. You can just remove it like normal, it won't impact your phone.
The phone linking is just to sync a few things like notifications, it doesn't sync signed in accounts.

you must have 2 account for this to work.

Yes, you always need to have at least one Chromebook in order to use it. You could powerwash (factory reset) it to remove all users, but then you would have to add another user before you could use it.
