l wish they'd do more solo-music dlc like they did with Sans and Cuphead. l dont even care about the costumes per se, but l'd be fine with obscure characters not getting in if we can have 1~2 of their most iconic music tracks in smash :]
I’ve been thinking about that a lot, specifically with Lethal League characters. I can envision Candyman getting a swordfighter outfit and either Ain’t nothing like a funky beat or Ordinary Days V2 for the music track, or even Grid as a brawler with the song Whipz. I really want Lethal League music in smash

It made me really happy to see you mention Phoenix Wright, even as only an honorable mention. I really hope we get him in Smash in some form, whtether that be as a Fighter, Mii Costume, or Spirit, I'd be ecstatic to see him show up.
I really appreciate you being realistic and keeping everyone's expectations in check. People who are genuinely curious about and interested in what the Smash team is making and not just chasing some shocking-character-fueled high are unfortunately hard to find nowadays.
It’s people with mindsets like yours that need to be heard much more prominently in the Smash community. It’s a shame that you’re so much more underrated compared to the content creators people keep their eyes on. On a different note, if we’re talking about personal opinion, I would like to present my own. Personally speaking, if Smash is going to hook me again like it did when the reveal of the game introduced Inkling, it’s going to have to either do one of two things. Introduce a character I have a connection with with the potential for a highly unique and easy-to-grasp playstyle, or do something off the walls bat shit crazy that would make the internet shake to the point where the event would make it in the gaming history books, and the latter isn’t very likely. Since I don’t think the vocal Smash community has learned their lesson when it comes to fighters that are niche, not recognized, or anything that isn’t something highly speculated on, I’m going to choose fighters that specifically do not satisfy the community’s unhealthy itch and addiction to big-name character reveals. This is why my first pick is; Touhou Project’s “Reimu Hakurei”. For those who are unfamiliar, Reimu Hakurei (or just Reimu) is the main character of a long running indie video game series known as Touhou Project, a series most well known for it’s difficult bullet hell gameplay, the amazing and unique music by the creator of the series ZUN, and said creator’s lenience when it comes to fan works involving Touhou project. ZUN is well known in the fan base for basically letting the fans do whatever they want with the IP which has resulted in countless talented animations, remixes of the music, fanart, more animations, more remixes, more fanart, did I mention animations, remixes, and fanart? That aside, I choose Reimu as a wanted fighter for a number of reasons. In terms of gameplay, the unique mechanics of the series in question as well as the general bullet hell nature of the series is bound to make for a creative moveset. And if Sakurai doesn’t want to make a wholly original moveset simply inspired by the mechanics, he could always take inspiration from the Touhou fighting games which were fan-made games turned into official games in the series with ZUN’s permission. On top of that, Reimu would be able to represent not only a new genre of game but also represent indie games outside of costumes and such. It’s not like Touhou isn’t popular, some extended OST’s from Touhou Project get hundreds of thousand, even millions of views. While Touhou might be niche in the West, it most certainly is extremely popular in Japan, so it’s not like it’s impossible for Sakurai to know about the series, or even for Nintendo to not recognize it. For my next pick, if we’re gonna talk about settling down from the climax of the Fighter’s Pass, a character who’s series is already introduced to Smash should fit the bill nicely wouldn’t it? Splatoon 2’s “Octoling”. Wouldn’t it be a poetic and neat looking bow to have the series that started it all cap off the end of character updates? Inkling was used to introduce Smash Ultimate, let’s have the final bang be Octoling! Now, I know that this pick is unpopular from both Smash and Splatoon 2 fans. From Smash fans, it’s because Splatoon is already represented in Smash. For Splatoon 2 fans, it’s because they can’t really see Octoling existing as anything but an echo or a semi-echo fighter (by semi-echo I mean what Isabelle is to Villager. Similar moves, but not a copy paste). However, as a person who practically has a degree in all things Splatoon to the lore, gameplay, and music, I would say that not only is it possible for Octoling to be introduced as a separate character, I bet they can also have an entire unique moveset that remains fateful to the series as well as provide an experience different from Inkling. Putting gameplay aside for the moment, in terms of new things Octoling would bring to the table, there is a ton of music from Splatoon’s second outing that does not have a proper appearance in Smash. There’s the remix of Bomb Arusha Blush, Tide Goes Out, and Calamari Inkantation that plays in the final boss of the game, and isn’t it a little too perfect that tracks from Splatoon’s paid DLC Octo Expansion would have the perfect excuse to be introduced in Smash as a result of Octoling’s inclusion? Man, the thought of having a remix of Shark Bytes or having a mashup of multiple Dedf1sh tracks in one song just raises my dopamine just thinking about the possibility. Octo Expansion also provides Smash with new stage possibilities that would go perfectly with Octoling’s inclusion. Now, the thing most of you are interested in, the gameplay. How am I going to make Octoling different from Inkling? Well, obviously I’m going to pull from aspects of the gameplay that isn’t a part of Inkling’s toolkit. When it comes to the play style, everything sort of lines up perfectly by itself. The premise of Splatoon is about two different sides, one team versus one team, an idea versus an idea. Of course, all in good fun. If Inkling excels in close range combat and performing consecutive hit and run tactics, then Octoling should excel in more slower movements that focuses on longer range, setup, and thinking ahead. If Inkling uses the roller for her side special, why not give Octoling a Charger? Splatoon’s version of a sniper weapon. We could also give Octoling the ability to set up traps by letting them out down Ink Mines that don’t focus on K.O’s but instead focus on disrupting the enemy so that you can setup easily for a K.O. Honestly, you probably wouldn’t pass off Octoling as nothing but a potential echo if you actually paid attention to the gameplay and themes of Splatoon 2. (To be continued in the replies)
For my last pick, I’m choosing a character that nobody has ever thought of would make it into Smash, and for good reason, I also have 0 doubt that this character will never make it into Smash Ultimate. Not only do they come from a game that has released a long time after Smash Ultimate’s release, the character in question doesn’t even have all the tools the character would need to make the moveset that they would have. Introducing; Genshin Impact’s “Traveller”. For those who are out of the loop, Genshin Impact is the newest game by miHoYo that has amassed millions in the game’s player base. The game focuses on a storyline that updates via content patches as well as team-based Elemental combat with a dose of exploration. The funny thing is that many people dismissed Genshin a impact as a “Breath of the Wild” ripoff at launch and here people are today making theories about the game’s hefty lore and appreciating it’s unique gameplay and animation. I mean, when the companies slogan is “tech otaku save the world”, you know you’re dealing with a company who knows their stuff. The character in question is the “Traveller”, and while they do have canon names, you get to pick who the main character is at the start of the story, who are either the male Traveller “Aether” or the female Traveller “Lumine”. Canonically, Aether is the main character but it would make more sense if both versions of the Traveller were playable just like how other characters in the Smash roster have alternate gender versions of themselves such as Robin and Pokémon Trainer. In terms of gameplay, Traveller’s main pull is the aforementioned Elemental combat. You see, in the game, the gameplay revolves around having a team of a maximum 4 different characters who each manipulate their own Element as well as different skills and playstyles, beating the enemy encourages adept use of mixing and matching skills and abilities to take full advantage of their effects. Of course, switching between multiple characters with separate movesets in Smash would be overly complicated, potentially overpowered, and would take up much too many resources for development, but the Elemental combat can still work since the Traveller is known in the story to be able to manipulate more than one Element at once. Even if gameplay doesn’t support it, a cutscene did show the Traveller using more than one Elemental moveset which means that they canonically do have the ability to switch Elements at will. With all of that said, the Traveller’s main gimmick is either the ability to change their moveset or different moves using different elements, the latter would reap the benefits of the unique system without using up as many resources. The gameplay would revolve around applying certain elements to the enemy to apply debuffs to them and applying bonus effects to your own character, mixing two different elements to create an Elemental Reaction that would provide a unique effect. For example, you could combine Geo and any other element to make Crystallize which would provide your character with a shield that would negate knockback or damage. Combining Electro and Cryo would provide Super-conduct which would boost the effectiveness of physical attacks. Combining Pyro and Cryo would cause Melt which amplifies the damage of the attack that caused the reaction, and combining Electro with Pyro would make Overloaded which sends the enemy into knockback. You can also combine Anemo with any element to make a Swirl reaction that would boost the unique effect of the element being combined. Basically, you have to combine different aspects of your moveset to gain a unique effect that will help boost your effectiveness in combat while also maintaining a balance between applying effects and making sure you’re not standing still to get hit by the enemy, because that will happen often in Genshin Impact if you only pay attention to what you’re doing and not the enemy. I feel like the uniqueness of gameplay possibilities that would come with a Genshin Impact character would be very rich. However, seeing a Genshin Impact representative, at least, for Smash Ultimate would be highly unlikely in my honest opinion. The first problem is the moveset. As of the time of writing this comment, the Traveller only has access to two elements, Anemo and Geo. Unless if the devs work together with miHoYo to make a wholly original moveset that only draws from the idea of the gameplay and nothing more, being able to make a moveset for the Traveller that represents the character’s home game well would be nearly impossible. Unless of course, miHoYo and Nintendo provide a reason for the Traveller using more abilities than they have access to that makes sense. The second problem is Genshin Impact’s age. Whilst miHoYo as a company has been around for a while and has triple A assets, Genshin Impact is a baby of a series, coming out years after Smash Ultimate’s release (wow, it’s been years since Smash Ultimate came out? I feel old). Unless if miHoYo made plans from a long while back, Nintendo gaining the legal rights to use miHoYo’s properties would be a pipe dream. Then again, I don’t know how big companies operate behind the curtains. With all that said, these aren’t characters that I think are likely, these are character I personally would like to see from the series that I personally love, cherish, and appreciate. Who cares if a character idea is unrealistic? What’s the point of the fun of Smash speculation if you don’t let your imagination run wild?

So as far as Pokemon I do think Gen 8 is most likely but I am curious if it's possible instead we get something from Gen 4 or even Legends Arceus (in particular Decidueye, since it's still held on to popularity pretty well and is a starter in it) There is something of a trend of one of the last characters being from a significantly newer game and they don't even really have to wait for either game to come out to make the moveset since these are existing Pokemon and we know what they can do Also multiple times Pokemon generations have been skipped over by Smash for something more relevant so I think it's not impossible for a similar thing to happen here
Something I think is worth noting is that the end-of-pass promo picks tend to be from games that have been out for at least a good half a year. Even Corrin, who was pushing Fates in the West, had their game released in Japan about six months before their reveal. None of the promos have been timed with their game's releases; They didn't release Byleth in July or September to go with Three Houses' release, they added them in January. Given the two-to-three month gap between fighters we've been having so far, BDSP could be released _after_ FP2, and given the precedent of giving promoted games some time before adding their characters, I feel like the Gen 4 remakes are a bit late for a fighter.
Crash for Fighter 10..... How original.... I would love crash in smash, but it seems like everytime we think Crash will be the next smash fighter, it turns out that he isn't the fighter that was revealed. He still has a chance tho, but wouldn't personally want to get my hopes up.
You have no idea how happy I would be to see Sol Badguy in Smash. Also please don’t diss my boy Dante. Just because he had that one leak back before Byleth, that doesn’t make him a bandwagon character.
Crash and Rayman have been my top picks since Joker. Im glad many people agree that both should be in. I hope Sakurai uses Crash for his big shot, and Rayman as the closer
There is one thing I disagree with. The assumption that after the midway point they calm down with the dlc. If you look at where the characters were revealed, both the game awards and E3 were at the beginning of the pass. They usually save their heavier hitters for these events and not for the beginning of the pass. It was like that for dlc pass 1 because those big events were at the beginning of the pass, and let’s be real I don’t think anyone would’ve wanted Byleth revealed at E3.
As a Cinderace for Smash supporter I kind of fear the possibility that Cinderace is actually in the DLC, entirely because I know a bunch of Smash fans will probably get very upset over it and attack anyone not on the "Pokemon bad" bandwagon ...i remember what it was like to be excited for Byleth
But at the same time, this reveal is likely going to be at E3. So I feel like we’ll get one more big-name character, with the final character being more low-key. They planned this pass under the assumption that they would be revealing characters at two years of E3s, which is something we should consider.

I personally think we're gonna get one character who hasn't had an appearance on a Nintendo console before like 2B or Master Chief. Ultimate seems to be the game that laid many failures to rest, and one of the biggest fanrules is that a character MUST have a least one appearance on a Nintendo console to be added when that's not necessarily the case. He said he would *prefer* if they did, but that's not exactly a "No", just an "unlikely".
Any of these 3 would make me happy, especially the former 2. It makes sense of E3 to have a pretty notable character reveal with the larger audience watching, but we'll see!
I’d love to see KOS-MOS from Xenosaga make it into Smash Bros. To me, she feels like an underdog choice for a rep. She’s especially gotta chance if she’s in the same meta-series as Pyra/Mythra so I think it should work. I feel like KOS-MOS isn’t hyped big enough. I’d love to see more support for her. That’s just how I feel.
Although E3 is usually the best time for a 3rd party reveal, I severely doubt it lines up with the original pre-COVID timeline. Still, I bet they'll announce both the fighters at the event, like they did with Hero and Banjo & Kazooie.
Great video men, i was thinking, would you be interested about reading on "new" concepts that smash could implement and that also are not that much of a pain while using most of the things in the game? I wanted to make a vídeo on these concepts, but i don't know anything on video editing, but i really want to see these concepts in discussion in the community. I think that we should start talking about what we want, need next for the franchise, since se are getting closer to the the dlc's ending. SO much could be done that is technically "easier" and could add so much to the franchise
Sol Badguy is probably my most wanted character at this point. Given the new Guilty Gear game coming out, I wouldn't count him out. Really hoping they'd include gattling combos, air dash, tension gauge, and roman cancel. Maybe a Dust up smash with very little knockback growth.

I’m not a big Rayman fan and haven’t ever cared for the idea of him joining the roster, nor Waluigi, but I’ve wanted Bomberman playable since Smash 64, and I really feel for the Rayman and Wahman fans at this point. We’ve just been teased and hurt for too long 😔 Sol Badguy; honestly hadn’t heard of him until he popped up in Smash speculation a good few months back. I’d heard of Guilty Gear but had no idea what kind of game it even was. I enjoy the Fighting Game style characters, but I’d really prefer one I actually have some attachment to; Chun Li (Blanka in a perfect world lol but I’m trying to be somewhat realistic) would be the only one I’m holding out a little hope for, but I’d take Scorpion in a heartbeat!... Nightmare could be cool too.. I never cared for Crash growing up, his games weren’t nearly as good as Spyro or the icons he tried to rival, he really just came off as a wannabe in all his commercials to me 🤷♂️ but that’s just my opinion. I wouldn’t be against him joining, I just get tired of the Bandicoot wagon. If I were to hazard a guess to who I think the next fighter is, I just kinda have a feeing it’s Chun-Li. Then we’ll get Lloyd as pack 11 and Yuri will get revealed as that “bonus” fighter everyone has been talking about lol If I got to pick the fighter, of course it’d be Bomberman lol, and the final fighter would be Ratchet, so my brother and I both get our dream Fighters 😁

I mean, all the E3 reveals have been pretty big deals since Smash 4. You had Megaman (plus Villager and WFT) in 2013. Pac-Man (plus Palutena and Mii fighters) in 2014. Ryu (Plus Roy) in 2015. Ridley/everyone is here (and Daisy) in 2018. Hero and Banjo in 2019. And Steve was probably meant for E3 2020. So it’s not too far fetched to expect another crowd pleaser.
With Monster Hunter Rise having come out last month, and Stories two coming out in July I think we might get something for those games. The question is what? You would expect a Hunter, but look what they did with Pyra. No Rex. Just Pyra. We could get a Palico, or a monster. If they can shrink down Ridley they can shrink down anything.
Crash and a Gen 8 Pokémon (preferably Toxtricity) are who I’m betting on. I think it’s reasonable to expect one more Nintendo character rather than two massive 3rd party characters like so many people expect

*Sonic is the most under appreciated character in the entire game, he has 2 stages and one of them is garbage, he has two assist trophy’s that should be actual characters, all his colours are garbage, his moveset is trash, his personality is not shown in any of his moves or idle animations, please, just please just give sonic another rep, he deserves it more than anyone in the game, he’s the oldest third party rep yet he is still by himself, he also was one of the most hype characters ever revealed in smash, it’s kinda sad how under appreciated he is, literally almost no one acknowledges it, they just call him trash and cheap, he is but I just think he deserves more spotlight*

I am sorry, but I feel as if master chief would be the next fighter rather then crash or even rayman since both of them have a bit of stuff de-confirming them. But I will keep a close eye on sol for the final fighter just because that sounds like he would fit best as the final fighter more or less. I know this might get you going all at me for it but, even though other characters sound like a good pick. I feel like they will add master chief since he is like the main fps franchise and would get a lot of people mind blown because of that alone. I just feel as if they did someone like crash or rayman it would be less impactfull, but I honestly feel they have to have a fps character, just because it would represent all gaming franchise's. Back on the note of someone like rayman being not as breaking the internet I could still see them joining. unlessssssss... Geno maybe but I heavily don't think he will be in unless they add him in as a thank you fighter for playing and buying all dlc...
If Sol has a chance, then e3 2021 is the optimal time to reveal him. GG Strive releases literally the day before e3 starts, meaning that Guilty Gear is going to be fresh in people's minds during e3.
I dont care what is said I'm not giving up on Dante in smash until the last fighter of the last smash game. I picked up bayo in ultimate but her combos get kinda samey after a while so i want a character that is similar with cooler moves. I'd be ok with Sol though.
Been a big Shantae supporter since Sm4sh, but I lost hope for her a long time ago. Still my most wanted character but just... I don’t see it happening. I’ve shifted my hopes over to Master Chief, tho honestly I kinda doubt his chances too lmao
I really hope Alm & Celica from Fire Emblem Echoes Shadows of Valentia comes to SSBU as either #10, #11, or Bonus DLC. Because I can imagine that they can be unique fighter just like how Pyra/ Mythra being played. Plus Alm is basically like The Ocarina Of Time Link since they both r left handed, using their shield, using bow and arrows, and carry the legendary sword with the mark symbolize their destiny. Same goes for Celica but right handed. Alm isn't a typical copy Fire Emblem character just like Marth, Roy, Chrom, and Lucina. Masahiro Sakurai and Nintendo Company cane make Alm special by not using just swords just like how they did with Byleth in smash for them using the Hero's Relics. So please God make Alm, Celica, or Both as Duo be in Smash. 🙏😇
We are honestly at a point where it is pretty dang hard to predict anyone, but it's likely a character we have talked about to death and will make us all just give a *shrug* when they get revealed because they'd feel so obvious. I'm honestly at the point where I don't care who the last 2 fighters are and I've moved onto mourning the characters who never had a shot or only received a fleeting glance: the Arthurs, KOS-MOSes, and Marina Liteyears of gaming, if you will.
@@ElTaitronAnim I often think about "perfect characters" for smash and she absolutely would be one of them. The whole look of her game and her character scream "mascot platform fighter." Honestly, a part of me kind of wishes that Nintendo ditched including anything but characters like that. It would make for a much more interesting game if the entire Smash roster was characters like Sonic, Banjo, Mario, Kirby, DK, Simon... Basically only characters that were in platformers, and then give them all a playstyle that almost as closely as possible matches how they play in their actual games.
I see what you mean, but I prefer Smash as it is, not restricted solely to platformer characters (though the newer ones like Simon and Banjo do very closely match their home games). Admittedly, the thing about Marina is I have trouble imagining a moveset for her, since was was almost exclusively a grab-and-throw character. Besides an aerial grab and maybe pulling random items from a Clanpot (or just Clanbombs?), I'm not sure what she could bring to the table, as much as I'd like to see her appear.
Sigh don't want to get too personal about him, but I am not that big on him. His franchise is full of way more interesting candidates and I rather some other ideas. This is from one who has somehow managed not to have a single wish granted this game and I don't have that many desires.
Kind of surprised you didn't mention Geno or a new Zelda character in the section about Red Herrings. I mean it seems like a lot of people just kind of acknowledge that Geno probably ain't happening thanks to the Mii Costume, so it could be one of those "goes without saying" kind of things. Might have still been worth a mention though. Maybe. Not mentioning a Zelda newcomer is what I find more surprising though. But as I specified, in the section about Red Herrings. Absolutely nothing against the idea of a non-BOTW era Zelda Newcomer. But that era, mainly BOTW2 (well, kind of) seems to be where a new character would most likely be pulled from. And the timing with BOTW2's release coupled with both when Fighter Pass 2 ends AND when choices/development on those characters began, yeah the timing doesn't really seem to match.
Crash and Rayman seem like they will happen someday due to the huge fan support. Soi is someone I predicted for the pass until they announced the Arms fighter. At the end of the day the final 2 character could really be anyone.

I don't know if you have noticed but EVERY single DLC character has been at one time or another on a nintendo system as a main game not some spinoff like the FINAL FANTASY RYTHEM games so if you think about it that cuts a lot of characters and adds a lot aswell

Sadly, I doubt Sora has much of a chance at this point. We already got Sephiroth in this pass, and with Square also being represented by Hero last pass, I don’t think we would be getting any more characters from them as DLC. It’s not impossible, but Sora’s chances are minimal at best currently.
@@oyobembe2485 The same reason as why people would request any character: they like them. That said, Master Chief is in the same boat as Sora. We’ve already had two Microsoft DLC characters, so unless we suddenly get a third pass, which is unlikely, he’s probably not getting in.
It seems nearly impossible to predict who's next in Smash, so at this point I'd say "yeah, probably" to just about any suggestion. But I definitely think you're on the right track for expecting a third-party character at E3 and a Nintendo character later! Sol would be quite the surprise, but I'd love to see Rayman, or especially Crash! Sora would've been my dream pick, but he's probably missed the boat by now (also: Sephiroth). So my other dream picks would be Amaterasu (Okami) or Phoenix Wright... but then again, do the Monster Hunter/Capcom Mii costumes signify "no Capcom characters"...? The one idea I've been banking on since the start was "a gen 8 Pokemon" (Zacian would be my personal pick), but as we approach the end, I'm not so sure anymore. l wish they'd do more solo-music dlc like they did with Sans and Cuphead. l dont even care about the costumes per se, but l'd be fine with obscure characters not getting in if we can have 1~2 of their most iconic music tracks in smash :]
I’ve been thinking about that a lot, specifically with Lethal League characters. I can envision Candyman getting a swordfighter outfit and either Ain’t nothing like a funky beat or Ordinary Days V2 for the music track, or even Grid as a brawler with the song Whipz. Rayman is also hidden in the Ice in the Battlefield stage. I think he could be the “bonus fighter” like Piranha Plant.

It’s people with mindsets like yours that need to be heard much more prominently in the Smash community. It’s a shame that you’re so much more underrated compared to the content creators people keep their eyes on. On a different note, if we’re talking about personal opinion, I would like to present my own.
Personally speaking, if Smash is going to hook me again like it did when the reveal of the game introduced Inkling, it’s going to have to either do one of two things. Introduce a character I have a connection with with the potential for a highly unique and easy-to-grasp playstyle, or do something off the walls bat shit crazy that would make the internet shake to the point where the event would make it in the gaming history books, and the latter isn’t very likely. Since I don’t think the vocal Smash community has learned their lesson when it comes to fighters that are niche, not recognized, or anything that isn’t something highly speculated on, I’m going to choose fighters that specifically do not satisfy the community’s unhealthy itch and addiction to big-name character reveals. This is why my first pick is;
Touhou Project’s “Reimu Hakurei”. For those who are unfamiliar, Reimu Hakurei (or just Reimu) is the main character of a long running indie video game series known as Touhou Project, a series most well known for it’s difficult bullet hell gameplay, the amazing and unique music by the creator of the series ZUN, and said creator’s lenience when it comes to fan works involving Touhou project. ZUN is well known in the fan base for basically letting the fans do whatever they want with the IP which has resulted in countless talented animations, remixes of the music, fanart, more animations, more remixes, more fanart, did I mention animations, remixes, and fanart? That aside, I choose Reimu as a wanted fighter for a number of reasons. In terms of gameplay, the unique mechanics of the series in question as well as the general bullet hell nature of the series is bound to make for a creative moveset. And if Sakurai doesn’t want to make a wholly original moveset simply inspired by the mechanics, he could always take inspiration from the Touhou fighting games which were fan-made games turned into official games in the series with ZUN’s permission. On top of that, Reimu would be able to represent not only a new genre of game but also represent indie games outside of costumes and such. It’s not like Touhou isn’t popular, some extended OST’s from Touhou Project get hundreds of thousand, even millions of views. While Touhou might be niche in the West, it most certainly is extremely popular in Japan, so it’s not like it’s impossible for Sakurai to know about the series, or even for Nintendo to not recognize it.
For my next pick, if we’re gonna talk about settling down from the climax of the Fighter’s Pass, a character who’s series is already introduced to Smash should fit the bill nicely wouldn’t it?
Splatoon 2’s “Octoling”. Wouldn’t it be a poetic and neat looking bow to have the series that started it all cap off the end of character updates? Inkling was used to introduce Smash Ultimate, let’s have the final bang be Octoling! Now, I know that this pick is unpopular from both Smash and Splatoon 2 fans. From Smash fans, it’s because Splatoon is already represented in Smash. For Splatoon 2 fans, it’s because they can’t really see Octoling existing as anything but an echo or a semi-echo fighter (by semi-echo I mean what Isabelle is to Villager. Similar moves, but not a copy paste). However, as a person who practically has a degree in all things Splatoon to the lore, gameplay, and music, I would say that not only is it possible for Octoling to be introduced as a separate character, I bet they can also have an entire unique moveset that remains fateful to the series as well as provide an experience different from Inkling. Putting gameplay aside for the moment, in terms of new things Octoling would bring to the table, there is a ton of music from Splatoon’s second outing that does not have a proper appearance in Smash. There’s the remix of Bomb Arusha Blush, Tide Goes Out, and Calamari Inkantation that plays in the final boss of the game, and isn’t it a little too perfect that tracks from Splatoon’s paid DLC Octo Expansion would have the perfect excuse to be introduced in Smash as a result of Octoling’s inclusion? Man, the thought of having a remix of Shark Bytes or having a mashup of multiple Dedf1sh tracks in one song just raises my dopamine just thinking about the possibility. Octo Expansion also provides Smash with new stage possibilities that would go perfectly with Octoling’s inclusion. Now, the thing most of you are interested in, the gameplay. How am I going to make Octoling different from Inkling? Well, obviously I’m going to pull from aspects of the gameplay that isn’t a part of Inkling’s toolkit. When it comes to the play style, everything sort of lines up perfectly by itself. The premise of Splatoon is about two different sides, one team versus one team, an idea versus an idea. Of course, all in good fun. If Inkling excels in close range combat and performing consecutive hit and run tactics, then Octoling should excel in more slower movements that focuses on longer range, setup, and thinking ahead. If Inkling uses the roller for her side special, why not give Octoling a Charger? Splatoon’s version of a sniper weapon. We could also give Octoling the ability to set up traps by letting them out down Ink Mines that don’t focus on K.O’s but instead focus on disrupting the enemy so that you can setup easily for a K.O. Honestly, you probably wouldn’t pass off Octoling as nothing but a potential echo if you actually paid attention to the gameplay and themes of Splatoon 2.

For my last pick, I’m choosing a character that nobody has ever thought of would make it into Smash, and for good reason, I also have 0 doubt that this character will never make it into Smash Ultimate. Not only do they come from a game that has released a long time after Smash Ultimate’s release, the character in question doesn’t even have all the tools the character would need to make the moveset that they would have. Introducing;
Genshin Impact’s “Traveller”. For those who are out of the loop, Genshin Impact is the newest game by miHoYo that has amassed millions in the game’s player base. The game focuses on a storyline that updates via content patches as well as team-based Elemental combat with a dose of exploration. The funny thing is that many people dismissed Genshin a impact as a “Breath of the Wild” ripoff at launch and here people are today making theories about the game’s hefty lore and appreciating it’s unique gameplay and animation. I mean, when the companies slogan is “tech otaku save the world”, you know you’re dealing with a company who knows their stuff. The character in question is the “Traveller”, and while they do have canon names, you get to pick who the main character is at the start of the story, who are either the male Traveller “Aether” or the female Traveller “Lumine”. Canonically, Aether is the main character but it would make more sense if both versions of the Traveller were playable just like how other characters in the Smash roster have alternate gender versions of themselves such as Robin and Pokémon Trainer. In terms of gameplay, Traveller’s main pull is the aforementioned Elemental combat. You see, in the game, the gameplay revolves around having a team of a maximum 4 different characters who each manipulate their own Element as well as different skills and playstyles, beating the enemy encourages adept use of mixing and matching skills and abilities to take full advantage of their effects. Of course, switching between multiple characters with separate movesets in Smash would be overly complicated, potentially overpowered, and would take up much too many resources for development, but the Elemental combat can still work since the Traveller is known in the story to be able to manipulate more than one Element at once. Even if gameplay doesn’t support it, a cutscene did show the Traveller using more than one Elemental moveset which means that they canonically do have the ability to switch Elements at will. With all of that said, the Traveller’s main gimmick is either the ability to change their moveset or different moves using different elements, the latter would reap the benefits of the unique system without using up as many resources. The gameplay would revolve around applying certain elements to the enemy to apply debuffs to them and applying bonus effects to your own character, mixing two different elements to create an Elemental Reaction that would provide a unique effect. For example, you could combine Geo and any other element to make Crystallize which would provide your character with a shield that would negate knockback or damage. Combining Electro and Cryo would provide Super-conduct which would boost the effectiveness of physical attacks. Combining Pyro and Cryo would cause Melt which amplifies the damage of the attack that caused the reaction, and combining Electro with Pyro would make Overloaded which sends the enemy into knockback. You can also combine Anemo with any element to make a Swirl reaction that would boost the unique effect of the element being combined. Basically, you have to combine different aspects of your moveset to gain a unique effect that will help boost your effectiveness in combat while also maintaining a balance between applying effects and making sure you’re not standing still to get hit by the enemy, because that will happen often in Genshin Impact if you only pay attention to what you’re doing and not the enemy. I feel like the uniqueness of gameplay possibilities that would come with a Genshin Impact character would be very rich. However, seeing a Genshin Impact representative, at least, for Smash Ultimate would be highly unlikely in my honest opinion. The first problem is the moveset. As of the time of writing this comment, the Traveller only has access to two elements, Anemo and Geo. Unless if the devs work together with miHoYo to make a wholly original moveset that only draws from the idea of the gameplay and nothing more, being able to make a moveset for the Traveller that represents the character’s home game well would be nearly impossible. Unless of course, miHoYo and Nintendo provide a reason for the Traveller using more abilities than they have access to that makes sense. The second problem is Genshin Impact’s age. Whilst miHoYo as a company has been around for a while and has triple A assets, Genshin Impact is a baby of a series, coming out years after Smash Ultimate’s release (wow, it’s been years since Smash Ultimate came out? I feel old). Unless if miHoYo made plans from a long while back, Nintendo gaining the legal rights to use miHoYo’s properties would be a pipe dream. Then again, I don’t know how big companies operate behind the curtains.
With all that said, these aren’t characters that I think are likely, these are character I personally would like to see from the series that I personally love, cherish, and appreciate. Who cares if a character idea is unrealistic? What’s the point of the fun of Smash speculation if you don’t let your imagination run wild?

So as far as Pokemon I do think Gen 8 is most likely but I am curious if it's possible instead we get something from Gen 4 or even Legends Arceus (in particular Decidueye, since it's still held on to popularity pretty well and is a starter in it)
There is something of a trend of one of the last characters being from a significantly newer game and they don't even really have to wait for either game to come out to make the moveset since these are existing Pokemon and we know what they can do
Also multiple times Pokemon generations have been skipped over by Smash for something more relevant so I think it's not impossible for a similar thing to happen here

Something I think is worth noting is that the end-of-pass promo picks tend to be from games that have been out for at least a good half a year. Even Corrin, who was pushing Fates in the West, had their game released in Japan about six months before their reveal. None of the promos have been timed with their game's releases; They didn't release Byleth in July or September to go with Three Houses' release, they added them in January. Given the two-to-three month gap between fighters we've been having so far, BDSP could be released _after_ FP2, and given the precedent of giving promoted games some time before adding their characters, I feel like the Gen 4 remakes are a bit late for a fighter.
All 3 characters you discussed would be cool to see as potential fighters, and Shantae and Professor Layton would be cool choices also

There is one thing I disagree with. The assumption that after the midway point they calm down with the dlc. If you look at where the characters were revealed, both the game awards and E3 were at the beginning of the pass. They usually save their heavier hitters for these events and not for the beginning of the pass. It was like that for dlc pass 1 because those big events were at the beginning of the pass, and let’s be real I don’t think anyone would’ve wanted Byleth revealed at E3.

I personally think we're gonna get one character who hasn't had an appearance on a Nintendo console before like 2B or Master Chief. Ultimate seems to be the game that laid many failures to rest, and one of the biggest fanrules is that a character MUST have a least one appearance on a Nintendo console to be added when that's not necessarily the case. He said he would *prefer* if they did, but that's not exactly a "No", just an "unlikely".
Personally, I want 2B. I heard Yoko Taro, the person behind Nier Automata, loves crossovers, that, and he's good friends with Sakurai.
Any of these 3 would make me happy, especially the former 2. It makes sense of E3 to have a pretty notable character reveal with the larger audience watching, but we'll see!

Sol Badguy; honestly hadn’t heard of him until he popped up in Smash speculation a good few months back. I’d heard of Guilty Gear but had no idea what kind of game it even was. I enjoy the Fighting Game style characters, but I’d really prefer one I actually have some attachment to; Chun Li (Blanka in a perfect world lol but I’m trying to be somewhat realistic) would be the only one I’m holding out a little hope for, but I’d take Scorpion in a heartbeat!... Nightmare could be cool too..
I never cared for Crash growing up, his games weren’t nearly as good as Spyro or the icons he tried to rival, he really just came off as a wannabe in all his commercials to me 🤷♂️ but that’s just my opinion. I wouldn’t be against him joining, I just get tired of the Bandicoot wagon.

I mean, all the E3 reveals have been pretty big deals since Smash 4. You had Megaman (plus Villager and WFT) in 2013. Pac-Man (plus Palutena and Mii fighters) in 2014. Ryu (Plus Roy) in 2015. Ridley/everyone is here (and Daisy) in 2018. Hero and Banjo in 2019. And Steve was probably meant for E3 2020. So it’s not too far fetched to expect another crowd pleaser.
Something I think would be awesome if we got Crash, is if they threw in Coco as an Echo Fighter as a bonus.

With Monster Hunter Rise having come out last month, and Stories two coming out in July I think we might get something for those games. The question is what? You would expect a Hunter, but look what they did with Pyra. No Rex. Just Pyra. We could get a Palico, or a monster. If they can shrink down Ridley they can shrink down anything.
One thing people forget to mention about Sol is the fact he has a new game to shill, plus everyone has their eyes on it. Would be the perfect choice
Crash and a Gen 8 Pokémon (preferably Toxtricity) are who I’m betting on. I think it’s reasonable to expect one more Nintendo character rather than two massive 3rd party characters like so many people expect

*Sonic is the most under appreciated character in the entire game, he has 2 stages and one of them is garbage, he has two assist trophy’s that should be actual characters, all his colours are garbage, his moveset is trash, his personality is not shown in any of his moves or idle animations, please, just please just give sonic another rep, he deserves it more than anyone in the game, he’s the oldest third party rep yet he is still by himself, he also was one of the most hype characters ever revealed in smash, it’s kinda sad how under appreciated he is, literally almost no one acknowledges it, they just call him trash and cheap, he is but I just think he deserves more spotlight*
I simultaneously want and don't want Crash.
The "want" half: He's cool and he'd be a nice addition with fun mechanics
The "not want" half: (proceeds to spew out a 5 paragraph essay detailing why Spyro would be better, how he was a bigger part of my childhood, and so on and so forth)
I am sorry, but I feel as if master chief would be the next fighter rather then crash or even rayman since both of them have a bit of stuff de-confirming them. But I will keep a close eye on sol for the final fighter just because that sounds like he would fit best as the final fighter more or less. I know this might get you going all at me for it but, even though other characters sound like a good pick. I feel like they will add master chief since he is like the main fps franchise and would get a lot of people mind blown because of that alone. I just feel as if they did someone like crash or rayman it would be less impactfull, but I honestly feel they have to have a fps character, just because it would represent all gaming franchise's. Back on the note of someone like rayman being not as breaking the internet I could still see them joining. unlessssssss...
Geno maybe but I heavily don't think he will be in unless they add him in as a thank you fighter for playing and buying all dlc...

If Sol has a chance, then e3 2021 is the optimal time to reveal him. GG Strive releases literally the day before e3 starts, meaning that Guilty Gear is going to be fresh in people's minds during e3.
I think Load Ran from Twinkle Star Sprites would be the next fighter.
I dont care what is said I'm not giving up on Dante in smash until the last fighter of the last smash game. I picked up bayo in ultimate but her combos get kinda samey after a while so i want a character that is similar with cooler moves.
I'd be ok with Sol though.

I really hope Alm & Celica from Fire Emblem Echoes Shadows of Valentia comes to SSBU as either #10, #11, or Bonus DLC. Because I can imagine that they can be unique fighter just like how Pyra/ Mythra being played. Plus Alm is basically like The Ocarina Of Time Link since they both r left handed, using their shield, using bow and arrows, and carry the legendary sword with the mark symbolize their destiny. Same goes for Celica but right handed. Alm isn't a typical copy Fire Emblem character just like Marth, Roy, Chrom, and Lucina. Masahiro Sakurai and Nintendo Company cane make Alm special by not using just swords just like how they did with Byleth in smash for them using the Hero's Relics. So please God make Alm, Celica, or Both as Duo be in Smash. 🙏😇
I'd love to see Sol in smash purely because I'd want them to attempt to include ArcSys' unique lighting and animation style for him.

We are honestly at a point where it is pretty dang hard to predict anyone, but it's likely a character we have talked about to death and will make us all just give a *shrug* when they get revealed because they'd feel so obvious. I'm honestly at the point where I don't care who the last 2 fighters are and I've moved onto mourning the characters who never had a shot or only received a fleeting glance: the Arthurs, KOS-MOSes, and Marina Liteyears of gaming, if you will.
I'd lose my mind if we got to see Marina Liteyears return after all these years, Mischief Makers has always been an old favorite of mine!
@@ElTaitronAnim I often think about "perfect characters" for smash and she absolutely would be one of them. The whole look of her game and her character scream "mascot platform fighter." Honestly, a part of me kind of wishes that Nintendo ditched including anything but characters like that. It would make for a much more interesting game if the entire Smash roster was characters like Sonic, Banjo, Mario, Kirby, DK, Simon... Basically only characters that were in platformers, and then give them all a playstyle that almost as closely as possible matches how they play in their actual games.
I see what you mean, but I prefer Smash as it is, not restricted solely to platformer characters (though the newer ones like Simon and Banjo do very closely match their home games).
Admittedly, the thing about Marina is I have trouble imagining a moveset for her, since was was almost exclusively a grab-and-throw character. Besides an aerial grab and maybe pulling random items from a Clanpot (or just Clanbombs?), I'm not sure what she could bring to the table, as much as I'd like to see her appear.

Sigh don't want to get too personal about him, but I am not that big on him. His franchise is full of way more interesting candidates and I rather some other ideas.

Kind of surprised you didn't mention Geno or a new Zelda character in the section about Red Herrings.
I mean it seems like a lot of people just kind of acknowledge that Geno probably ain't happening thanks to the Mii Costume, so it could be one of those "goes without saying" kind of things. Might have still been worth a mention though. Maybe.
Not mentioning a Zelda newcomer is what I find more surprising though. But as I specified, in the section about Red Herrings. Absolutely nothing against the idea of a non-BOTW era Zelda Newcomer. But that era, mainly BOTW2 (well, kind of) seems to be where a new character would most likely be pulled from.
And the timing with BOTW2's release coupled with both when Fighter Pass 2 ends AND when choices/development on those characters began, yeah the timing doesn't really seem to match.
Crash and Rayman seem like they will happen someday due to the huge fan support. Soi is someone I predicted for the pass until they announced the Arms fighter. At the end of the day the final 2 character could really be anyone.

I don't know if you have noticed but EVERY single DLC character has been at one time or another on a nintendo system as a main game not some spinoff like the FINAL FANTASY RYTHEM games so if you think about it that cuts a lot of characters and adds a lot aswell

Sadly, I doubt Sora has much of a chance at this point. We already got Sephiroth in this pass, and with Square also being represented by Hero last pass, I don’t think we would be getting any more characters from them as DLC. It’s not impossible, but Sora’s chances are minimal at best currently.

That said, Master Chief is in the same boat as Sora. We’ve already had two Microsoft DLC characters, so unless we suddenly get a third pass, which is unlikely, he’s probably not getting in.

It seems nearly impossible to predict who's next in Smash, so at this point I'd say "yeah, probably" to just about any suggestion. But I definitely think you're on the right track for expecting a third-party character at E3 and a Nintendo character later! Sol would be quite the surprise, but I'd love to see Rayman, or especially Crash!
Sora would've been my dream pick, but he's probably missed the boat by now (also: Sephiroth). So my other dream picks would be Amaterasu (Okami) or Phoenix Wright... but then again, do the Monster Hunter/Capcom Mii costumes signify "no Capcom characters"...?
The one idea I've been banking on since the start was "a gen 8 Pokemon" (Zacian would be my personal pick), but as we approach the end, I'm not so sure anymore. Is it "too late" for another Pokemon character at this point...?

i'm just hoping that we will get a fighter pass 3, yeah, i know sakurai said multiple times and blablabla, i don't care, i still think a fighter pass 3 can happen, and even if not, i'm already satisfied with banjo, so i will not be disapointed anyway. but a fighter pass 3 is what i most want. and i think can happen. you guys always say that something will not happen or never happen or that is impossible until it isn't anymore.
I don't know if we can have incredibly high standards when Banjo & Kazooie exists in the game. In fact, I don't think it gets more ludicrous than that.

"Hype responsibly" Pssh. Good luck telling that to everyone else. 😒 I agree that folks just want to collect as many AAA characters in the game for the sake of hype or filling in a particular role, when that's not how Sakurai or his team picks them.
I wouldn't be too surprised if Crash did, well, _CRASH_ the party, as he's on everyone's minds. :P Also, I wouldn't entirely rule out 1st party picks from recent new entries or new franchises altogether, even though folks don't like to talk about it. Don't suppose you could do a follow up on potential Nintendo newcomers to be in Smash?
