Absolutely stunning documentary. Have to admit I rented this film because, other than her cultural iconoclast status of the revolutionary 60's, I knew so very little about Ms. Davis. However, after watching this film I am convinced that this woman is absolutely culpable for the conspiratorial crimes she was accused of. Watching this, it's shocking to learn of the barbaric murder of three completely innocent random people who happened to have been in the courtroom that day. It's horrific to think of what they must of gone through in the back of that van. An innocent person with no connection to such acts would FIRST AND FOREMOST make perfectly clear the deep pain and sorrow they would feel toward the victims and all their loved ones; were they truly not involved..... But here in "free angela",,,,NOTHING from ms davis. nothing. Not a word, nor a tear, or even a grunting acknowledgement that anyone else other than she had suffered during this ordeal. For all your words trying to convince anyone who will listen how innocent you are ms davis, its your complete silence with regards to the victims of this horrific crime that prove your guilt to me.

He denial in this whole affair and murders are just disgusting. What are the individuals murdered was the brother of the prisoner that she was trying to spring from San Quentin. She's a totally horrible human being.

So, let me get this straight. Angela Davis is a Professor Emeritus of UC? I'm curious what her feelings are about the four people who died in the Marin County Courthouse, regardless of whether or not she was acquitted. She's a vocal supporter of Joanne Chesimard (forget that phony name she's adopted), a convicted killer living in exile in Cuba, so what exactly was she teaching in the university? That women of color are above the law, and that it's okay for them to be responsible for the deaths of other people? She wants to abolish the prison system? What's the alternative? Let felons roam our streets? Do NOT think for a moment that I'm some right-wing conservative bigot. I was a radical student in the '60s and '70s, but I'm appalled by the message that this woman is delivering.

Rafael Storm that was an interesting perspective.

Rafael Storm Assata Shakur is the historic link to what is going on today. Meaning, the evidence that supports Assata being a "murderer" is as cloudy as the evidence that Trayon Martin "attacked" Zimmerman. People support Ms. Davis and Shakur because we know that 1) the whole story hasn't been told and 2) especially where these two ladies are concerned, the story is definitely framed in a certain way. It goes back to what Davis said at the beginning of this vid...if you can demonize the leaders or anyone willing to stand up , then you discourage any further dissent.

Dissent and a fight for justice isn't as clean or straight forward liberals would like to think. Struggle means a lot of things. Normally the people who are doing the struggling are a threat to the state and those who hold power. I don't think women of color are above the law but these women are bringing into question: Is the Law just? Who does the Law protect and who does the Law silence?
You might not agree with their tactics but can you not at least understand the questions which these women are bringing to the table rather then just defaulting to a "they broke the law" attitude. I feel it can be a very easy ad hominem distracting from the view points of the oppressed when the oppressed are often forced against a wall which make them act outside the law.

These are eternal victims that can never be satisfied always blaming someone for their own shortcomings saying they are political victims when they are just unhappy complainers.
