Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! Oh Julie, you are the first person, only person to finally end my misery!! Everyone says that you can do acrylic pouring with PVA glue and water… and I’ve tried, with NO success!! I was so down heartened as my paint was gluggy and I just couldn’t get it to thin out properly; I would make it the same consistency as I see everyone else doing but, when I put it on the canvas it would just not move properly. Well… I have been using PVA WOOD GLUE… until now, no one had ever clarified this. This revelation has almost moved me to tears!! Thank you so so much Julie! With this knowledge, I am now willing to try again. ♥️♥️
Oh and I an super big fan love your personality and your heart . Your art got me through 4 long months of being bedridden. Once I was able to move around, I went to my art Studio and painted one my prettiest piece’s..so thank you for your inspiration love ya!
I've been doing this type of art now for 2 years and I use a wide variety of different pouring mediums. Not all give me the results I like but have used this one that Julie just mixed up and it works quite well. I'm not a fan of just floetrol as it is a paint extender and your paints tend to move even after it's been poured and is drying. It's all a personal choice really and if you are using a pouring medium that works for you, then stick to that. I find I like to experiment with different pouring mediums to see what results I get
It was after watching you do what you called your best flip cup in blue with gorgeous cells, I found a video with your PM recipe. I’ve never before been able to get large cells. Only the baby cells. I had huge cells and poured again a flip cup today with very large cells. I need to learn how to keep the composition intact, without stretch and distorting. I’ll keep watching and trying to learn. Thank you for sharing. I think you are wonderful. Gidday!
Thank you for this video! With a translator and a little effort on my part, I finally understand the information in your other videos! Thank you for your generous way of sharing your knowledge with others. I finally hope to create big cells and pictures that I can proudly show to family and friends. ;-)
I've tried different recipes .. messed with it here and there.. but I will say I do like how yours flows.. it really does a nice job for cells too without even using an oil based product. .thank you!
My mind told me to use all three as well.. Instead of one or the other. I heard you say that all 3, the glue added, hold your cells better!!! I'm totally with you on this lesson! I'll get products soon. Can't wait. Ty
thanks for sharing. i'm new at paint pouring and have been watching a lot of videos including recipes. i think that every pouring medium recipe uses either glue, or floetrol or a pouring medium, but not all 3 together. i'm sure your recipe is good however i'm wondering why there needs to be 3 different pouring mediums together. this seems a little more complex and also i'm wondering if it's a little more expensive than just having one.
Thanks for share how you can make your own recipe, the pouring media I got available locally is too expensive , is a good way to stretch your media, and your budget!!!
ive tryed to mix owatrol with glue as i live in uk and it make like a slime paste floetrol i can see its alot more liquid theen the owatrol its quite thick but now i learned that i cant mix both if i use pm with glue and water and i need to do the colours with the same p m if i use owatrol i need to do the same thing use always the same pouring medium
Hello, I love your videos they have taught me so much. I work with Special needs children in Africa. We cannot get Floetrol or GAC here. I have been playing with Glue and water and it seems to work somewhat but I was wondering if you had an actual recipe of the amounts to be used. We use it predominately to do crafts and for vocational skills for our students. .
This video is the best I have seen! You are amazing! I know Your revealing in next video but would you mind saying what’s the paint to pouring medium ratio now? Thank so much!
Hi Julie ! I am confusing. Why do you mixe all those product together and for doing what exactly ? I am new student/practice in Acrylique paint. What you made are beautiful and I love that. I started with ready paint for pouring by Deco art acrylic paint and fluid art ready-to-pour acrylic too !! Please help me cause now I bought Liquitex Basics Acrylic and I know I have to mixe with something but now I am so confused and mixe in my head ( I need pouring in my head ? Lolll ) Thanks , I am Sylvie from Montreal in Canada !
So I am having a issue when I make my medium i use flowtroul but idk if I'm using to much of something but when I do my pouring paint it comes out watery and doesn't really cover the sides of my canvas idk what im doing wrong please help and thank u
Hi Julie, this is probably a stupid question as I am still new to fluid art and you may have already explained it in another video but.... Why use floetrol, pouring medium and glue? I am in a few FB groups and most just use either glue or floetrol. So I thought that the floetrol was a pouring medium... Hope you can help with me questions, thanks a bunch!! ☺️☺️
I just watched your homemade pouring medium #160 (for flip cups) do you still use this same recipe? Only cuz I noticed it’s from 2 years ago. Thank you 🙏
I used the glue mix against the straight floetrol and got great results I did just black and white for best results. Wish I could share photos here but I’m going to share in acrylic pouring group and give my thinks to you there 😁👏
Hi, I love to watch you so much so that had started learning how to mix the Medium. I was doing fine until I got distracted by the dogs. I was on it until I got to pouring in the 100g of medium, instead, I poured 100g of water. I need some advice on how to make this work. I was thinking if put 75grams of each item this would fix this mess. I know you have to be laughing so hard right now, I am.
I use just straight floetrol and a tiny bit of water and I been doing this for 2 years never had any trouble . I have to do it that way because I can't afford to pay for the other mediums
I’m somewhat new at this .. a few months One of my confusions is .. what make a Pouring Medium Using an already mixed pouring medium? It seems as soon as I Think I understand something.. I end up back at sq #1… lol 😂
hi , i was thinking also , why a pourine medium to make a pouring medium ....can i ask you what you add to the paint for making your art ? thanks for answer !
A pouring medium is an additive used to create a thinner, flowing consistency in acrylic paint. Pouring medium is an essential ingredient in creating fluid artwork. It helps to increase the paint flow and reduce the viscosity of heavier paints, while maintaining color, texture and opacity in your finished artwork.
Thanks :) I bought 5litres of PVA glue but it's really thick. Would you water this down before adding to the mix? Am not sure 25oz of water would make that much difference..... Tia x
Thank you for the tutorial on your formula for the pouring medium you make. Especially on the PVA glue. I have only seen global professional pva glue. Are you able to recommend a good place in Australia buy the craft PVA. I love all your videos
Bunnings have both wood PVA (1lt for $12.09 or 4lt for $23.75) and craft PVA (1lt for $12.09) CraftOnline (Aussie store) have PVA 'School" glue 2lt for $24.99, 5lt for $49.99 and also Elmers 3.78lt for $78.99 Lincraft also have basic PVA, 500ml bottle for $9 I use wood glue from Bunnings and have not had issues with paint curdling (I use Haymes house paint for my pouring though, not artist paint)
Did anyone get a reply about the adding of the PM when this recipe is to make the PM ...pouring medium ... still cannot understand why we would have to add it ...
This is perfect!!! Thank you so much!!! I've been very interested in acrylic pouring, but haven't taken the leap, but I think I will do so soon. Can the containers be reused once they are empty and washed out or does the glue prevent it from being cleaned out? Also, Can this mixture still be used with pigments, such as Artisue or Colour Obsession pigment powders in addition to acrylic paint itself?
I use Artisue pigments. You will need to make a paste of the pigments first. Sue has a video on her channel explaining how to make paint from her pigments.
Hi Julie, I make acrylic skins for jewelry. Is your recipe good for that? I currently use Liquitex PM/paint in a 1:1 ratio (then add water for consistency or Floetrol/paint in a 2:1 ratio plus water for consistency. Thank you in advance.
Yes, it is the key to larger cells. My PM was floetrol, Glueall and water. Only small cells. I added DecoArt PM in lieu of Liquitex in an attempt to make a PM very similar to yours and boom, my first pour with large cells. Hobby Lobby in US had the 1/2 gallon at 1/2 price, so I got it. Hadn’t yet used it until I tried your PM recipe. Thank you, thank you.
Hi Julie. I am just re-watching your 'technical' videos, and thank you so much for these. Do you still use the 3-2-1-1/4 formula or more of the mainly pva formula that you show in your most recent pours? I tend to get way too much celling in my pours, even tho' I use your pva/water formula. I always have to add some water, to get the right consistency, would this have any effect on how the paint reacts? Sorry for all the questions, but I am always on a quest to achieve something like your pours. I live in Canada, so of course use different paints, mainly Liquitex Basics, Amsterdam, and Artist's Loft. Thanks!

I don't understand why you need a pouring medium when you're trying to make a pouring medium. I'm confused. 😳
hi , i was thinking also , why a pourine medium to make a pouring medium ....can i ask you what you add to the paint for making your art ? thanks for answer !
hahah i was watching and asking why why why poring medium ... did you get an answer!!
Pouring medium is expensive, by using the glue and Floetrol (much cheaper items) with a little pm you can make large batches on the cheap
So does that mean you have to have a flow chart and all these different equations I get quite confused about it as well
A pouring medium is an additive used to create a thinner, flowing consistency in acrylic paint. Pouring medium is an essential ingredient in creating fluid artwork. It helps to increase the paint flow and reduce the viscosity of heavier paints, while maintaining color, texture and opacity in your finished artwork.
Thank you Julie 😊😊😊
