Love my 2022 PA special, also have a Road-Glide Ultra, so I love the look, performance. I'm over 6'3" so it fits me well. Great video 👍

I'd go with the special. I like the adaptive ride height, the stabilizer, the center stand and the crash bars with the Special. I'm also glad to see the special has heated grips. Nice video here!

I think it is a good looking bike with the bold look. All the features and technologies looks very functional and will work with so many rider statures. I agree with you there are plenty of information about the engine specifications and riding videos of this motorcycle. Thank you for the unique and informative video. With that being said I am 5’ 6” and near future I would like to see a video that shows the Reach Seat on the Pan America and the lowest Adaptive Riding setting that would work with the smallest statures / heights. Thank you.

I've been looking at the standard just because of the price difference but I think the special is the way to go. I live in the sticks and gravel is a way of life. Would be a nice upgrade from my KLR and Road King.

Yeah definitely do the Special, worth every bit of the extra money in my opinion.

They should’ve called it the dirt glide

Don't give them any ideas. We have had too many glides as it is. haha

Great video! I recently test rode the Special at my local UK dealer and really liked it. However, despite the bike having the adaptive ride height and with the seat on the lower position, I could only get one foot flat on the ground. I have a 31 inch inseam. The riding position and seat height felt very similar to the Kawasaki Versys 650 I used to own. I’d definitely have the Special if I were buying one.

The special really does seem like the only way to go to me. Especially when the cost is so similar.

I had the privilege of riding one back in May. I loved the power. I thought the ride was great. I could truly see buying one of these if I was going to do any off-road stuff. The only thing is I really don’t see me doing that. We’ll see. I would get the Special.

I love the idea of being able to continue when the road stops. Just super functional.

@@throttleblip9854 Oh, I get it. My first 4 bikes were either street legal dirt bikes or full out dirt bikes. I prefer something a little more laid back at this point. Nice bike though. I'd almost consider it as a sport touring bike rather than an adventure bike. The thing is though, I believe they'll come out with an actual sport touring bike over the next year or two as they introduce more new bikes.

Most guys with adventure bikes don’t do a whole lot of off roading. It’s mostly touring and having the ability to hit gravel and trails.

    • @RevJay_Rides
      @RevJay_Rides 3 роки тому

@@TeensierPython That would be me if I bought one. I doubt I would do the TAT. But, I would just be more apt to ride on gravel or trails. I avoid gravel like the plague with my Ultra Limited.

I saw the Laidlaw video when it came. At 5’8” I would only get the Special with the adaptive ride height. I wouldn’t get one of these without a centre stand.

The Special is what I went for and what I got. I would have liked to have got the wire rims, but I ended up with the mag wheels which isn't a big deal b/c I'll be on asphalt most of the time. I was lucky to walk into my dealer and back out with the bike - luck of the draw, I got one that was on the floor and waiting on a customer that had paid a deposit, but he hadn't responded to the dealer after a few weeks, so they let me take it. Sounded like you had four Pan Americas in total, multiply that by the number of Harley dealers across the country and it makes you wonder if Harley just weren't prepared for the demand. I love my Pan Am, and touch wood, so far I haven't had any major or concerning issues, I truly hope that engine can stand the test of time and these beasts become more common out on the roads, Harley did a great job.

My Pan America Special overheated and blew the engine at 5,000 miles halfway through a 2,500-mile trip. The bike has now been in the shop for three weeks, and today, I finally got an update on the cause. The Tech tells me the manifold going from the Oil Pump to the engine's top-end came loose. They are still waiting for Harley Corp tech support to get back with further instructions. I love the bike, but it doesn't seem like the dealerships want anything to do with servicing and repair it. I hope Harley takes care of me, but I'm skeptical due to being in the shop for three weeks and not getting any update other than they are waiting on Harley's tech support. I did ask the Tech how much internal damage there was, and they said Harley had not instructed them to make any more tear down; they just wanted pics of the cause. However, the Tech did tell me that they did a compression check on the cylinders, and they are entirely different front to back, and there is coolant in my engine oil. Fingers Crossed!

@@jetlee7743 no I ended up selling the bike back to the dealer. I’m riding the BMW GSA now and I have to say I can’t imagine ever getting something different. 22k miles later and not even a hiccup. But I imagine they have gotten the Pan America dialed in.

It sounds like the dealership needs to find a competent mechanic.

I find the reach seat in the high position to be more comfortable than the stock seat in the low position, even though they are the same height at that point. I find the stock or reach seat to be comfortable for long distances only in the high position. One of the reasons to use the high position, whether using the stock or reach seat, is the rear pillion will be flush with the seat, forming an unbroken curve, allowing you to more easily use the front of the rear pillion for cushion as well.

Great review, thanks. I'm not really into HD's and the ones that intrigue me are typically the ones HD riders hate, the VRod, Fat Bob and now this. My aesthetic hates the headlight on most ADV's and this is no exception. I do appreciate it as it is, at least, different from the bird beak or "transformer" look but still not wild about it. I like the elongated tank as opposed to the more peaked tank. It's Interesting but I still have to think about it. Best wishes to you and HD.

I'd take the special, skip the ride height options and go with reduce reach seat, I think 🤔 cause there's already too much that could go wrong with the extra electronics on that special
