I was more excited to read Elan articles in 80s computer magazines than I was reading the magazines in my dad's shed.

LOL. I was working by the eighties, and spent tons of time staring at machines I couldn’t afford - the C64 was $800!

Part of me wishes the memory update had been 1637K. Because then it would have been an Enterprise 1701...

Excellent work! We don't really do SCART here in Australia so I removed the UHF modulator can and installed a mini-DIN socket that took the RGBS signals from the edge connector ... I then made a mini-DIN to RGBS cable to plug directly into my GBS8200 /Brett

What a great follow up to the original video. So much contained in this one, and it's great to see the Enterprise being upgraded. Love how the screen output is positioned so we can see what's happening too.
There seemed to be a lot of classic games available for it when you were scrolling through those directories.

Thanks Matthew - it's such a shame that so many of them were Spectrum conversions rather than developers taking the time to exploit the hardware.

Never used an original Enterprise micro but I like the look and color scheme. It would be super cool to have a 3d printed copy of the case for a ARM or X86 SBC computer.

I always enjoy an episode of the shack. I couldn't get the song "When I'm Sixty Four" out of my head while watching. I know that this incredible machine will make it to 64 with your love for it.

For me as a Hungarian, but completely immersed in the C=/Amiga world and living abroad these days, it was weird to see all this Hungarian texts and names popping up on your screen. I have a TVC, which is somewhat of a weird cousin of the Enterprise, and I was amazed by the quality of that machine's small community (all Hungarians, as the machine was never sold elsewhere) puts out.
I also heard that the Enterprise is "big" in Hungary, and let me tell you - it isn't. Compared to the number of C= people, it's a tiny tiny community. But they seems to be super active, and putting out quality stuff for their beloved machine, just as the TVC folks. Now I'm proud of them, even from this far apart. Cool stuff. Thanks for the video.

Another, rather simple thing to make is an adapter to connect proper Atari-style joysticks to the proprietary joystick ports. The only problem for me was to source a fitting connector (which means: I couldn't find any, so I had to cut down an almost fitting one).
After building my own, I got an original adapter form eBay... it's still shrink wrapped in it's old packaging. It's worth millions, I suppose...🤔

Solder in the holes is because it is wave soldered and it would require another operator to desolder the holes.

Well done, great to see more Enterprise love and I’m glad you got the interface up and running! I’m still hunting for any more details on the SD card solution, but I’ve had no luck either. Having said that, given that there’s no real speed different between it and floppy solution it’s not the end of the world. Two thumbs up!

    small correction:
Binary programs can be loaded from EXDOS also by :LOAD prgname
There are some programs which using the advantage of memory expansion:
The Next War - Converted from Spectrum next, and digi music is loaded only on Expanded machine.
The Hobbit (new version, it is about 600KB) - everything is loaded into the memory
    MOD Player
SPEMU128 - ZX Spectrum "Software emulator", it works only with expanded machine
The Sword of Ianna - Converted from CPC, needs at least 512 KB RAM
    WAV Player
and there are some other games which loads everything into the memory if have enough.

The way the graphics are handled feels like an Amstrad with better colour depth. I'm guessing the system must lack hardware sprites, which isn't surprising considering it was considered a business machine. Very interesting stuff. I was alive, but too young to remember it, so it's kinda nice to see "dead competitors" to the still popular ones(C64, Amstrad and Spectrum in store shelf space order, there were Amigas and STs, but they were reserved for teenagers still at this point) from when I was in primary school.

Just done the 512k ram upgrade which had the PCB made and soldered up myself. No luck finding an SD card solution yet.... Is the tape emulator EPTE by any chance? I've been using Tapir to convert tape files to MP3 and playing on my phone which has worked well. I cut my membrane down to the tear (i ripped both mine opening up!) and stuck some sellotape on the back for support. Sanded the front end to get the contacts shiny. Been find since.

Kind of - I used patch cables with the pin pushed through the motherboard and soldered in place so it looks like a header on exp2 but it isn't :). It's pretty tight in there!
