I just like Diet Coke. I’m actually at a pretty good weight for my body type- I’m not obese, I’m healthy and eat a balanced diet of fruit, veggies, grains, and meat. I just like Diet Coke because of the caffeine, and because I drink it when I work on building projects with my dad (garden beds, lifting beams, painting walls, flooring, etc.) for a boost of energy from the caffeine. It’s not a caffeine addiction either; I might have tea or coffee in the morning, but only if I need a boost after a late night. You’re spouting a major problem at a person who doesn’t have anything to do with that issue, and labeling my comment about how I enjoy something as a major health issue. The fact that you feel the need to do this is irritating, and your words do matter- whether if you tell this to yourself or others. There are people around both you and me who suffer from major health related issues due to obesity, and that you use the term for an actual medical issue so loosely is frankly just rude. Please refrain from using this language in the future, and think before you type or speak. Like I said, your words matter; what might be an idle comment from you could majorly impact someone else’s self worth or way of thinking. Thank you for taking this into consideration, and have a good day.
Hi Lacey, first off thank you for the tutorial. Your drinks sure do look delicious and simple. After reading some of the comments, I would like to add some recommendations to your process. At 1:00 -Remember that raw or unrefined honey has multiple heath benefits over processed honey, so keep the simple syrup temperature under 95°F to retain that raw goodness. At 2:10 -a good way to retain more carbonation in your finished drink and to reduce the risk of overflow and spilling, is to chill you seltzer/carbonated water to about 35°F to condense the carbon dioxide in the water so less of the gas escapes as you pour, also with this method there is no need to chill after combining, so you can enjoy your drink right away if you so choose.
Lately I’ve been mixing a simple strawberry syrup I make on the stove with carbonated water. But I’ve been wondering if there’s a way to make my own, proper soda flavors, so this is awesome!! Thanks for the simple, good instructions!
Interesting. I've been making my own sodas using mineral water (because I like the taste). I've used mangos, melons, blueberries and combinations of various fruits. I'll have to try using Seltzer water.
This was so amazing! Thank you for the recipe! I made blood orange soda with a hint of lemon juice. Instead of using honey syrup, I made some simple syrup. You earned a new sub!
What I like about this is you don’t HAVE to have one of those soda machines. Exactly what variety of grapes did you use, specifically? How long do any of these keep (without going bad) in the fridge before you drink it?? Less than a week or what?? Where did you buy those bottles from?? Walmart or a dollar store or where?? Target?? What if you WANT some caffeine in them?? (Yes, they are QUITE pretty!)
the drinks probably last a 1-2 weeks (if you dont drink it all by then) because it does have fresh fruit in it. the bottles I've seen at ikea, target, walmart. if you want caffeine in them i guess you could buy some caffeine powder and add some in.
This might be a stupid question but is it possible to switch out the honey for maple syrup? I have issues with high FODMAP foods and honey is one of the many types of sugars that bother me. Maple syrup is on my safe list though.
Slice some ginger root really thinly (you'd have to experiment for the appropriate amount for a good ginger flavour without it being too strong) steep in some some hot water, like 190-200 F for 30 minutes, near the end of the thirty minutes, add in 1 or 2 bags of green tea, or loose green tea and steep for another 3-5 minutes (or just prepare the tea separately and add in after honey has dissolved) reduce the temp to less than 95F, remove the ginger slices and tea, then add your honey and stir over low heat (between 90 and 95 F) until the honey has dissolved (if you are not using raw honey and do not care about the health benefits of raw honey, then you can increase the temp a bit to help the honey dissolve faster. I would add a little extra honey, or even some corn syrup instead to help sweeten it. *edit* forgot the lemon juice, maybe add a half or whole lemon
And people say Soda is unhealthy, not if you make it homemade!! ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for this! I might just quit drinking the sugary sodas and make this instead, you get the soda taste but not all that sugar! Btw do you have to reheat the raw honey!? Or can you use what’s left to make more for another time!?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! For the past years Ive been wanting to drink soda but the majority of the ones that in store are super unhealthy, Ive drinking seltzer water the past year but this is also really awesome when Im in the mood for soda and not seltzer water
Great content! , have you tried to use pure 100% considerate lemon, lime juice or the frozen pure juice mix? Do you taste the honey in the drinks if you add it instead of sugar? Thank you
You had my attention at "Lemon Lime" I've been trying to cut back on stuff like 7-Up (except for a good cake) and the like so I've taken to drinking flavored water..I've pretty much cut caffeine out of my diet other than the very trace amounts found in chocolate (when my sweet tooth acts up) and my sweet tea (which ain't all that much). I've actually got to the point where if I have a soda with heavy caffeine like MT.Dew (former 2-3 bottle a day drinker) or the like I actually get severe headaches from how much of an influx into my system it is. Not only is this version full of less additives but it's also healthier for you too since you're using actual juice and a simple honey syrup for making it sweeter if you need to..all those are good for your body and when it comes to the oranges, lemons, and limes you get a good dose of vitamin C. This is a good simple recipe and relatively cheap too.
can you make the syrup and put it in the freezer to last longer? that way you just pop your favorate taste cube from the freezer and puting it in the soda water
..well SOMEONE is a naturalist! 😂😂 I kinda agree though - homemade tends to be healthier. Honestly I mostly prefer homemade anyway just simply due to superior flavour
You keep mentioning it being caffeine free. Does most American store bought soda have caffeine in it? In NZ, only Cola drinks have caffeine in them. Just curious 😁
This would be an absolute joy for ppl who own sodastream! Not that expensive anymore to have since ppl have come up with a number of ways to refill the co2 tanks with stuff like food grade dry ice and co2 tanks itself instead of buying the sodastream tanks. I wanna buy one someday and try your recipes. The soda brands you showed, we don't have them here :(( The soda we have taste quite sweet on their own. Even the "normal" ones.
Just an FYI. The Drinkmate, which is Soda Stream’s unknown competition, is amazing for carbonating these kinds of sodas. You can add your water and flavors in the bottle pre-carbonation. That’s not possible with the Soda Stream.
I have two suggestions! First the Carbonated water should be as cold as possible as should all of the ingredients BEFORE you pour it into the bottle! That way it will off gas less as when it is cold it can hold onto the gas dissolved in the water easier! Second, put the syrup in the bottle second and the water last as it will cause less gas to escape in that order giving you more carbonation in the resulting soda.
Perfect for a family cook out I shouldn't drink because I have seizures so I am gonna stop drinking alchohol even though I only drink alchohol once in a while !!
Yes you can, but I would not dilute the honey as if you do the mixture will ferment faster as the sugar concentration will not be high enough to prevent it from doing so. Even still do not cap the bottle very tight and make sure you keep it in the fridge.
i may never drink regular soda again. i tried a couple of these they were far superior to store bought. so much more bite too. love that.

To save fizz when pouring, tilt the glass or bottle you're pouring into. It runs down the side smoother and doesn't fizz if you just dump it in.
