I have often experienced sudden spells of vomiting, and having the bedside commode has been a great help. I started using one, because my father died after a fall trying to get to the bathroom at night.
@@yourPTguy That happened in 1997, so we have had many years now for the grief to brcome less intense, but it still hurts. I didn’t start using a bedside commode at night until I had hip replacement surgery in 2016, then fell and broke my arm in 2019. Now I have weakness from CKD, so it really helps not to risk a fall during the night.
That was a really informative and well put together video! I was thinking of getting some kind of stroller or seat… but a commode is making more sense now. I’ve had two HARD falls & both at night before or after bathroom visits. Also, need a shower 🧼 badly & found out here in Florida we no longer have anyone to help with those things. So instead the Dr gave me physical therapy and occupational therapy. It’s impossible with the cancer and back surgeries… but I need to rest first and heal a bit. This shower idea will allow me to get to my private parts and I think I can manage. A little question would be getting in & out of said shower. 🚿 I used to take two to three a day… or bathe then stand up to shower off. I’d love that again. And someone to cook once a week & leave leftovers . ❤alas, I’d probably recover completely and I’m 76 yrs old & we don’t want to burden out younger generations, I know. Wish I lived in a place they still honor old people. Ahhhh….❤
I'm glad you found the ideas helpful. Thank you for sharing your story. To your question about the shower, I do think it would be super helpful to have the occupational therapist come out to the home if your doctor has ordered it to get his or her safety tips and input on your specific set up. Even if it's just for one visit, it would be so helpful to keep you safe. Also, please know that you aren't a burden! We need the older generation. We can glean much wisdom from those who have gone before us.
Hi. This is Samantha. I enjoy watching your videos. I am getting a Mariner shower/toilet commode delivered to me tomorrow. I am also getting this kind of commode in your video. To travel with. This video is helpful to me.
I USE GLAD BAGS 13 GAL. AND FOLD IT DOWN. I FEEL THEY ARE STRONG AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. I READ ABOUT THE CAT LITTER ON HERE AND WILL INCORPORATE STARTING NOW. I FOUND A ROLLATOR WALKER THAT WEIGHS ONLY 13#, SO I CAN LIFT EASIER.
The 45 degree angle was a great tip, ❤

How does one prevent water from getting inside the commode legs while taking shower. any tips pls
There are no holes to let the water in that are not sealed. I have used a shower seat for years. No problem.

If you use liners in the bucket adding a little cat litter for Oder control and it collects urine
That is an excellent idea! Thank you for sharing 🙂
This was great. Trying to decide on one for my husband. Any tips on getting underwear and pajamas up and down? Depends don't have a crotch hole.
Hopefully, you never have a blowout on the toilet. If you do, you will have lots of parts to clean!!! 💩💩💩
