- Getsu Fuuma Den (NES) All Bosses (No Damage). 月風魔伝, lit. "The Legend of Getsu Fūma". It is a side-scrolling action-adventure game for the NES (Famicom) by Konami, released in 1987, and was available exclusively in Japan. While Getsu Fūma Den never had a sequel, it has been referenced in many subsequent Konami titles throughout the years. The game is structurally similar to Castlevania II: Simon's Quest.

Shadowserg thanks ! Can you play The Warriors like a Hardcore Soldier with no fails and no damage ?
If anyone knows can they give me a list of games that are similar to Legend of Cage and Dragon Sword or similar to the forest levels.
@@johnphilliptecson3793 The Ps2 game?
Yes I love that game very much it was named after the 1979 movie about The Warriors a small-time outfit from Coney Island falsely accused on the shooting of a black large gang The Riffs leader Cyrus.
Boss master
Looks like a mix of Castlevania 2, Zelda 2, and maybe a bit of Metroid, all set in medieval Japan. Seems cool
And ninja gaiden
@@qoou9916 right, forgot to include that one
The funny thing is it also served as the basis for the first NES TMNT game. They share the same engine, if you will.
And Contra :v
It WAS made by Konami.
Konami's contribution to Japanese supernatural warrior games. A shame this was never ported for the U.S. NES.
I want everyone to remember that no flickering happened in this game, even with all the crazy thigns moving in the screen.
They reused a whole bunch of things in this game for Teenage Mutant Turtles for the NES. The sword slashing motion is exactly the same as Leonardo's and the blue and red icons when you beat the bosses are very similar to all the icons used, the sound effects for when the player hits something with the sword are very similar to the damage taken sound in TMNT.
Well, the game looks very ambitious for the time it was made in.
Konami made very ambitious games back then, considering the limits of 8-bit.
@@edwardgaines6561 you are right, I still play this games bcuz they are not pay to win
@@div_xxx5447 Pay to win? You mean DLC?
@@edwardgaines6561 yes
And now it returns!!
The sounds are a mix of TMNT, Castlevania, Goonies 2, Contra, Life-force, and Zelda 2.....and probably a dozen others.
Looks more fun than most of them too!
This is how I'd imagine 8 bit Nioh. Looks like a really good game. Graphic is very atmospheric.
1:08 Mother Brain from Super Metroid insisted on going as a samurai for Halloween. She soon regretted not taking her body with her.
5:11 hey that song’s in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair! If you’ve never heard of it...cuz it’s the one Castlevania game practically a select few played.
Heh, I noticed that Yugioh did an homage to this game... the zombie types Dark Dust Spirit and Ryu Kokki (Ryukotsuki) are the final boss of this game and the spirit that appears in the credits, while the warrior type Getsu Fuhma is the hero
YuGiOh is a Konami property, after all!
Also in Otomedius Excellent, the descendants oh Getsu Fuuma (Gesshi Hanafuuma) and Ryukotsuki have a rematch
Nice moves! I heard about this game a while back, but only started playing it today!
I guess I see why this game originated Zangetsu's Sword Spin move and most of his Sword fighting style from Bloodstained series.
Now this is what I'm talking about
wow looks good! never saw this game on NES, thanks for sharing
The sound effect of the sword upgrade was the Castlevania cross that clears the enemies off the screen. The bosses death sound effect is the same one from Contra.
Thanks, that was i thinking that but i don't remember where i listened that sound
That’s cool you mentioned that because also, the sound that’s heard every time Fuma hits a boss is the same one you hear when you hit Dracula, in his third form, in Castlevania 3.
Is it me, or does Fuuma kinda look like Simon Belmont? (I know, same company: Konami.)
Edward Gaines I think they must have used Simon's NES Sprite and modified to look more like a Samurai Character.
@@DigiPen92 So basically Fuums's a "Luigi" then?
So this is the predecessor of the Castlevania franchise...
because the main protagonist of this game shows up in Castlevania Harmony of despair.
Konami released the first castlevania in 1986, while this game is from 1987
Anyone with me here for the announcement of the new Getsu Fuuma Den for Nintendo Switch?
Me, and I for one am excited to see Konami getting back to the basics.
Partially that, partially because I remember my comment over here about Shadowserg pwning Ryukotsuki with just the Top Spin instead of the Wave Sword.
@@13Gangland Don't give Konami too much credit, they're just licensing IP to indie devs and publishing.
@@SuzakuX Allow some people to be positive and open to change. But it pays to still be wary, being happy and wary aren't mutually exclusive.
I, for one, still know one way for Konami to screw it up: Cancel it before the Switch release date. I hope it doesn't happen... BUT IT COULD. (Or of course, not saying that 'This game has P2W microtransaction'. Though last time I played a similar game published by them, I was so desperate to find those, only to find none...)
Man, I hope this is on the new game as an unlockable bonus!
Getsu Fuuma: The all powerful Wave Sword, from my brothers... Nah, keep that in the box. Imma just gonna use this top spin to pwn the Dragon King...
Lol Getsu go SPIIIIiiiiIiIiiiIIIIiIIIiIiinnn
When Ryu Hayabusa and Simon Belmont had a son together.
Nice video
I can’t help but think of Otomedius Excellent when it comes to this game now.
Konami did it right in Otomedius with those references
@@NCC-0000 Yes.
Anyone here after the announcement of the remake?
Maybe after this, if Shadowserg remembers this video, the description may need an update.
Apropos of little, but those are some rad boss names. Chimyriad and Oxocutioner are top notch localization choices.
Looking at the status bar I am suddenly impressed that Muramasa the Demon Blade was a spiritual successor to this.
2:41 that's some power ranger shit right there. they combined into a megazord!
You know a boss is dangerous when hey control floating swords and wear a tutu made of skulls.
This game looks awesome!
Well done dude for defeating last boss without wave sword challenge.
A new Getsu Fuma game was just announced for the Switch.
This reminds me of a cross between Zelda 2 and Actraiser.
This looks really cool, it's the power of the old school!
I love the final boss theme of this game.
ノーダメージで倒せるのはすごい!龍骨鬼は全部のフォームは駒装備で倒せるんですね!マネしたくなりました(笑)
Miss playing this in Castlevania HoD.
The music is GREAT!!
That spinning thingy makes it looks way easier than it was for me O_o
I had no idea I could just jump into bullets with it when I beat the game...

@Shadowserg Is this full English translation rom of Getsu Fuhma's Den!? If it is can you post a link to download and play the rom!?
We're working on a video about the history of Konami and wanted to know if we could use some of this footage as long as we link and credit you within the video?
Always the opening Getsuma reminds of Dragon Spirits & Dragon Saber.
This game needs a remake

@@andresgallego5727 Yeah :)
Fun fact: Getsufumaden 2 is great
Amazing how Fuuma takes after He-Man
A Konami Wai Wai character's game yes
I always wondered where he came from.
Ahh... I remember this. Without strategy guide nor Japanese knowledge, those mazes are simply unsolvable.
My bro and I could never solve them but we had a super gamer geek friend who solved it for us! crazy!
Not often you see a castlevania esq game where you can actively walk past an enemy and not take damage
龍骨鬼だぁ-ー!!
なっつかし!この曲は忘れられないわ
This game is great, if a bit repetitive (and those first person dungeons don't do it any favors either). I remember havivg emulating it on my phone like five years ago and completing it. Sure was a blast.
I played this game as a kid! Never could finish it, though.
Kankan Mahadi Did you lived in Japan back then or did your parents gets this game imported?
@@DigiPen92 Actually, I live in Malaysia. My older brother brought it back home back in the 1980s. We already had a NES back then.
Kankan Mahadi Did your brother brought the Famicom Console with him since in the 80s? I think I recall there were no Famicom Cartiladges Convertors to NES were invented at the 80s back then.
@@DigiPen92 Nope. Just the old Nintendo Entertainment System. Problem is he bought the Japanese version so I can't read the game back then.
@@Kankan_Mahadi I live in Singapore. I have the big ass NES grey cartridge too. The game is in Japanese but the title on the sticker says "Super Samurai". Awesome game!!!
are you using editing to jump to bosses or is this game purely a boss gauntlet?
This is one of the best classic game in NES, a top notch game of its time. I recalled tracking the whole map of the 3 mazes using my exercise book so I won't get lost. Definitely worth a remake! And Konami Wa Wa World need a remake too.
The next Wai Wai World should be about Konami Man and Konami Lady trying to save Konami World from internal corruption that happened after their honorable retirement, in reference of their disastrous controversy at 2015.
This game have a sequel.
OMG this game has almost the same mechanics as the NES TMNTs game. The player character has the same moves as Leonardo as he swings his Katana...maybe it was the same developing team that made this game made the 1st NES TMNTs game.
That screw attack is kinda OP
Go Getsu Fuuma
So this is the game! I always wondered who he was when playing Konami World (Wai Wai Warudo)... Now I kinda want to play this game 😁
Спасибо за видео
Don't know why, but this has a heavy "Monster Party" vibe.
So is the strategy jumping = win or am I missing something here?
Would have been nice to have this in America back in the day
I'm surprised Konami didnt reskin this and try and sell this as a castlevania game in the west
This game has a sequel now.
Wow this game is so awesome to play but were to find it🤔

Why didn't the US get this game back then? This looks awesome
Its was a bit too demonic and Japanese for the time. Although I'm shocked they never tried to later on with a remake or as an import on the wii's virtual console.
And I thought the American version of Super Mario Bros (Doki Doki Panic) was too demonic for the NES at the time
So you are invincible while spining ?
So this is Konami??
Was it rerleased in t he USA?
Thoundercats o talves a Heman. Que referencia a la serie clasica.

Reminds me of Kenseiden
Bruh this is zangetsu's ancestor
Btw there will be a sequel, ripping of dead cells but looks like its going to be a good game

screw attack for the win XD
I got the bootleg version titled Super Samurai 😅
This game gets a sequel in 2022!
Part of me is excited that this is one series I wouldn't mind seeing a revival.
But another part of me means I groan that "Man, I get to listen tons and tons of broken record people stuck in the past making unfunny 'jokes' about Konami a pachinko company and being a bunch of unforgiving yandere because how dare Konami not do as they say??" That's the most annoying part that comes in parcel with whatever Konami is doing these days...
4:10 lol how are you not getting hit against this boss?
is León O! Thundercats 😃
The sword meter is not even full.
