    An’s Bakery once you walk out of the hotel turn right, it’s at the intersection. Supposedly amazing, flown into ICN a few times but never tried it. Ugly Mood is a nice little cafe not too far away from the hotel make a GREAT latte. Also next to Ugly Mood is a brunch spot that I have forgotten the name of on the 8th Floor of the building it’s in, food is not bad there either.

    Hello, Sir. Quick question from a non-pilot, but a fan of the industry.
    In a commercial airliner, is it generally the Captain who prepares the flight plan for your designated destination, or does that get passed down to the co-pilot?

    • @geekontheflightdeck
      @geekontheflightdeck  5 днів тому +4

      Not ridiculous. Learned skill. I know how to make myself tired. If I know I’ll need to sleep I manage my caffeine and carbohydrate intake. Even on long haul flights I get 1-2 multi hour long breaks to take a nap which does wonders. There’s still the feeling of being tired that is just there. Nothing like landing 15 hours after takeoff. Ha.

    May I ask you a question regarding turbulence, please? How far off its trajectory does the aircraft actually move during relatively bad turbulence at cruising altitude? Is it just a few feet? Or is it being knocked around much more than that? Like suddenly 100ft down and 50ft left, and then quickly correcting itself back? I'm just looking for some general perspective on how far the plane is actually deviating from its trajectory during bad turbulence. Surely it's not being knocked around 500 feet +/- at a time, right? Thank you very much -- I really enjoy watching your videos!

    • @geekontheflightdeck
      @geekontheflightdeck  12 годин тому

      For moderate turbulence (which is the worst I’ve ever had and most people have ever had) it’s +\- 50 feet max at a time. There is mountain wave turbulence that causes +\- 200 feet but it’s like being on a boat with big waves. Not rough at all.

      If you can’t sleep on an airplane it will be horrible. It’s different. I like the 1 leg out and 1 leg back lifestyle. I’m still no 100% on staying on the 777 long term. When I can hold 3 day trips on the Airbus I’ll likely go back it.

      There's only 2 Asia destinations out of DFW on the 777 currently. I could fly out of LA but I'd have to commute there on my own. Thank you.

      Nah not stupid. Even though the Airbus is smaller it’s much more ergonomic than the 777. From the seats to overhead panel to the yoke/tray table.

    Long but not that long. I fly Newark to Singapore Changi and return with Singapore Airlines. Flight time is an average of 18.5 hours per leg. Aircraft is Airbus A350 with no economy class (only economy plus, business and first). I use to fly JFK-HKG several times a year (14 hours) and before it was cancelled we use to fly JFK to Bangkok (BKK) with Thai Airways on Airbus A340. Roughly 17 hours per leg.
