I always set me bed temperature to 70c before doing bed calibration. Let it heat soak ample time once temperature reached an additional five to ten minutes so thermal growth of the bed materials stabilizes. You should be able to push speed up over 100%? I would like to see more updates and also please add nozzle size you are using. Love your review, this machine is capturing my interest for a goliath printer currently at $200 off. I am very interested though in newly released Qidi 4. I hope Qidi puts out something in this size with surround and heated chamber because I love the size but want to do more engineering grade materials. An enclosure seems very important for build plate size. This looks to be killer deal. You have a great personality and great presence on camera, really glad I found your channel, just subscribed and liked! Thank you much! Looking forward to more updates in future on unit showcasing some monster prints!
@@JTs3DPrints So in the video I just started with the standard .4 nozzle. It's funny that you bring up Qidi as I'm doing the setup and unboxing review next for the Qidi Max3. I would love to actually get my hands on a Qidi Plus 4 and do a comparison video. Out of curiosity what is it about the Plus 4 over the Xmax3 that you like more. Certainly it's newer and I definitely know that it supports the multicolor filament box but It does have a smaller build size. Any reason why you wouldn't prefer to go with the larger build size of the Qidi Xmax 3? Thank you so much by the way for your feedback and for watching definitely stay tuned because like you I'm also very interested in the Qidi line. I think they've really been doing a great job of ramping things up in the 3D printing community. Based on CoreXY enclosed printers I feel it It will come down to either Qidi or Sovol on releasing a CoreXY 500x500x500 first.
@@CaptainCreativity I love the new nozzle design on 4 plus with 305 footprint and future AMS. Having multicolor would be great for me. I have the Q1, xsmart 3 that thing runs 24/7 same for Q1 and old school suped up ender 3v2. I would love to do some muticolor prints and also would like to see something like Max3 get a new update with AMS support. Having heated chamber is big reason I love the QIDIs. I hear the 4 Plus out of box works flawless. At price point and with 305 footprint it could be unit to go after Bambu labs for sure and price wise with heat chamber larger size sounds like will crush bambu Carbon prices for like features.
About the z off set I think it depends on what kind of probe the printer uses for example on my Neptune I calibrate cold and on my ender 3 hot do to the cr touch and the Neptune with a laser probe now the k1 uses a pressure sensor! One thing I learned is in the slicer do pic what plate you use smooth or textured example the textured plate will need a higher z off set now all that is opinion 😊
Thank you for watching and the feedback. I'm definitely going to be doing a follow-up video because there's a lot of tips and pitfalls along the way that I have learned and I want to share those experiences as well as tweaks. I will say however that once I heated the bed and then did the bed meshing I still had one corner being higher than the rest but it was nowhere near as bad as what it was before. When I'm looking at the change log on the firmware they do acknowledge this and they actually heat up the build plate prior to bed meshing and Z offset so it turns out that they corrected this. Anyway thanks again for watching.
hello captain creativity i got this printer and i having some trouble with T500 my screen looks different then your not sure if it a new version. and my build plate moves backwards all the way and hits the back stops and hits it again then tries to going backwards not sure if i miss a step since im beginner. but any advice will help.
I would check that there isn't an incorrect wiring issue. Also I don't recall but be sure to check the voltage switch is set to 115V. Make sure to upgrade the firmware but don't do what I did and go to the very latest , make sure to do incremental upgrades.
I got this printer a while back, but have not found time to set it up. I will be using it for making enclosures for projects and printing lots of small parts at one go, such as parts kits for DIY projects. Speed is not a priority for me, but reliability is. I’m worried about the bed adhesion, but we’ll see. Also my bed heater mosfet was kaput, but they sent a new one. Please make a follow up video if you have time!
I definitely will be doing a follow up video where I go through the input shaping. The pitfalls of upgrading the firmware. As well as the reality of the speeds you can actually get with good quality. Thank you so much for watching and stay tuned.
Oh no way. That's amazing. That's really the way to go. Have you tried printing anything large on it? If so how's the bed adhesion? Thanks for watching and your comment
Was it one of the pre orders or something you got recently . I bricked mine trying to upgrade 😡 , the first few prints worked for me. But I wanted to see if I can push this to the speeds they advertise. I am going to do a follow up video with all the tweaks and steps I needed to take to get to prints I was happy with. It will be a follow video. Thank you for watching and the feedback.
I've heard nothing but bad things about this printer, i really wanted a 500x500mm bed and this is the only printer I can find that's at a reasonable price for the size. But everyone seems to have problems with it.
I definitely would agree that there are a lot of reports a problems and I've run into a few problems myself but mainly that was due to the lack of clear instructions. For example I've been meaning to get this guy back up and running because after the video I tried to update the firmware and they did not mention any kind of incremental upgrade and so now the unit is bricked. I'm going to get it unbricked And then resume. I have also not seen any evidence of this reliably printing beyond 200 mm per second and obviously That's with a modification that somebody made in the slicer settings. I'm going to definitely be doing a follow-up video because the printer has a place for anyone who's looking to do large size prints but it's all about honing in the settings and I think that if we can get to a point where we know the maximum we could push it then we can all be very happy with our t500s.
Size is amazing. Speed is limited though. However stay tuned because next unboxing will be Qidi Max which isn't as big as this but it's pretty damn big and a CoreXY
You're absolutely right I should have done a bigger print for the testing and that's on me. I definitely appreciate the feedback and I know that when it comes to larger format printers I need to do larger tests. I just did so with the K2 Plus and that's the plan going forward. Thank you for watching
I’ll keep watching because you made an effort and to make the video, but I’m no longer interested in this print with the paper bed leveling at 900ish dollars. I’m not going backwards
Totally it was one of the things that is definitely a downside. End of the day if you're buying this it's going to be for one reason "The Size" but totally get what you're saying. It really bugs me that anybody in the last two years released any printer that have paper leveling for the z-axis. I feel by now most of the companies have now realized how ridiculous that is to continue to do with their printers so hopefully 2025 we won't see this anymore. Either way plenty of printers on the horizon that do not have that issue. As always thank you so much for your feedback and staying tuned in with the channel. 😊

how level is the factory bed on this?
I did notice that through Klipper mapping the bed was ok except the front. So I do want to adjust it
I received my T500 a few weeks back and mine came with a Texture PEI Plate

I had this printer for 2 weeks. It was an absolute nightmare. Did not get one acceptable print. Comgrow took the printer back.
