When I was in high school, 1975, I bought a 122S from my Latin teacher. Lots of great memories and lots of fun. I was no mechanic, unfortunately and it had incredible amounts of rust. Fun to drive and good in the snow back then when 4WD was hard to come buy. I remember having to constantly make keys for it. The keys were odd and thin and would tear when turning the ignition in cold weather. Had the engine rebuilt by a man from Finland, named Helge in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He rebuilt it in my back yard as I watched him. It was during the winter and it was cold. We drank schnapps. But, he did a great job. But, for a teenager, parts were so expensive. I was starting higher education with no job and I had to sell it. Always loved the shifting on it and was thinking about getting one to relive the past. Later, bought a 1984 760 Turbo Diesel. A true tank. Again, to keep it maintained and the cost of parts was just not worth keeping it. Nowadays, cars are not such classics but they are much more efficient, parts are cheap and they always start up in the snow, ice and frigid temperatures. It is fun to go back in time but not really practical.
Just came a cross your videos and loved the car. I take it that you found a buyer. Beings it's been 3yrs. You did a great job on it was one of the best ones I've seen so far. Love all the enhancements you did I also looked at all your details of what went on during the build on your car.
I had a 1969 122s in 1978. Even though it was only 11 years old at the time it looked like an antique styling reminiscent of the 50s. Lovely car to drive, very sporty with a 4 speed manual gearbox. I courageously went to a wrecking yard and got a similarly contoured skylight and put it in the 122s. Lots of work but looked great!
Arthur sure is a beauty. Some day my Arthur will be as nice, although maybe a bit more stock, since he is an oddball. Love the 67 122S. Friends on my mom's had two of them. The bought the first, then drove to Montreal, Quebec for Expo 67. While there, the car was T-boned. The police said that had they been on anything but, they would have been killed. They went to the local Volvo dealer, bought a second 67 and drove home in it. That car lasted 300,000 miles before rust made it unsafe. They figured when the driver's seat hit the ground under the car it was maybe time to give it up. Plus, by then they had a 72 142S in the driveway, which had replaced their rotted out, 350,000 mile P544.
Man do you bring back memories. I rebuilt a 1968 with a B18 and know what you went through to get it to everything working, as mine was. Later I did a 1973 164 GLE and that was a very fine road rocket.
Gonna build a amazon with a b230 turbo engine and a M47 gearbox from Volvo 740/940 and rear axle from a Volvo 240. 250 hp in a Amazon sounds like a lot of fun :D
I have my '83 242T just waiting to be restored, bought it when I was 15, drove it with multiple engine setups until I gave it to my older brother, we drove it across North America, to have it sit while waiting for me to finish it.
David.. Fun video.. made me smile.. Great car.. The Dec BAT auction was not an indication of what it will command this spring.. The next steward just hasn’t found you yet.. Love your videos- please keep sharing your experiences and passion for these sweet little cars... Looking forward to seeing what you’re up to next..
cc runner thank you. I’m trying to be patient as it is what a car like this deserves to find its next home. I’ve got two new Amazon restorations in the works with videos also coming in spring. Thanks for watching!
Amazing car, and recognize some of those roads (they are near my sisters house in NM) My first car was a 65 122S and now I have my S60R but am thinking about finding another 120 series to do a full restomod on...
That is a beautiful restoration. Lot of attention to detail I have only seen one of these in person in Maryland and it was the wagon in really rough shape.
A friend of mine managed to stuff a Ford 289 into one and the chassis needed no reinforcement. Disc brakes in the front and new springs and shocks, no other mods. The original engine was 1800cc, 80hp, but a later model 2.300cc with a high performance cam goes straight in and it has potential for 150hp without supercharging.
That thing is sooo beautiful. I almost had the option to trade my 97 V90 for 1966 Amazon wagon with something like 800k miles... After watching this I'm a little sad that that couldn't happen
Hey man sorry if I missed it, but how much lower is this car from stock. I saw that you did the ebay honda coilover setup, but you ended up taking them out. What did you go with after that? I just picked up a rather rusty 122 and I'm planning on making it moderately fast and also look good going down the road. Thanks man!
Hey. That brake booster? Do you have a part number. Im running manual brakes with the same ( i think) wilwood tandem master cilinder. I have a 65 amazon b18
Did you sell it? I looked on ebay the other day but there was no listing? If you did sell it David. How much did it go for? Thanks for all the restoration uploads BTW. I'm doing a V8 conversion with mine. Going to bag the suspension. Doing it a little more custom but all the same I like the color you chose. How come you didn't turbo yours?
svcogs svcogs eBay took down the listing because I linked to the blog on IPD’s website and IPD sells things so that was “inappropriate” and removed. Having some trouble with the rules of the internet and this car. The turbo decision was budget. Going EFI would be mega squirt and We don’t have a short waiting list for those who do it right.
You visited all the states west of the Rockies but didn't list Utah? There's a lot of Volvo enthusiasts along the Wasatch Front (thinking about the Bonneville Bricks) and quite a few Swedes!
East Coast Classics I changed it to private. I had to reupload this with some audio changes to be copyright friendly. The car is still for sale. Will be back on eBay tomorrow.
It was realy nice to see your Amazon-67 But since there are so few left, even in Sweden, so it hurts my heart when I see this "destruction" of a rarity like this. It's soo hard to find original spare parts these days. And IF you find them, they will cost you a minor fortune ! I my self had one back in 1981. It was a 1970, in realy good condition, original turquoise colour, and lots of fine crome. I deeply regret that I sold it 14 years later in 1995. Btw: good luck with the selling !
I think Aston Martin should employ you to remake the Aston Martin DB4 GT "continuation" advert, It was appalling, l think my comments must have hit a nerve as l have not seen the "ad" since! " Arthur,Probably the best volvo the world." You'll have to ask someone who's pretty vintage to link my final comment with a certain lager advert of the '70's /80's Cheers!
"Constantly breaking down 240" ... Just... How? Highly modified? 240s are usually extremely stubborn in refusing to stop working, even with burnt points and torn diaphragms etc.
for a start it aint a amazon its a p120,the amazon name was dropped in 1961 when the b18 was introduced, now if you had a b16 powered 59 you hasve every right to call it amazon , but you have a beautifully finished car but why is it on that down draught and not the s u s, the box with o/d was a great box i put 180 horse through it with su s 200 with webbers 48,s
Why did you change the old camshaft because the old one is such a good quality som you almost tear it down by usage it's famost for that the B18 engine camshaft it's made to last forever kind of . Welll i guess you want more thrust of the engine :) " in Swedish B18 motorns kam kunde man ej slita ut för den var så bra gjort sa en bilmekaniker till mig en gång" kvalitet :) use google translate to se what it mean if you are keen to know :)
I’m sorry to have hijacked your video for my question regarding another Volvo 122 I’m sure you have seen. Here is the link... ua-cam.com/video/7D_PCUbFfHc/v-deo.html I want to know what are the size of tires for those rims and also what would be the widest tire I can use on my 67 Volvo 122? Thanks. I’ve asked on that video but no answer. Can you please help or direct me to the right location? Thanks.
I Love Mylar Balloons Forever Ugly? It's actually a really attractive car, looking like a baby Chrysler New Yorker. If Volvo made a pillarless version, it would look utterly amazing.
Hands down the best "Buy my car" video i've ever seen
I got my Volvo 122s 4 years ago when I was 50 years old ands I keep it til I die. It's a brilliant car and I love it.
When I was in high school, 1975, I bought a 122S from my Latin teacher. Lots of great memories and lots of fun. I was no mechanic, unfortunately and it had incredible amounts of rust. This is not a video but a story.... I love it...Car is amazing
tomorrow is it 2 weeks ago since I bought my dream car, a 1973 Volvo P1800ES. I absolutely love that thing and I'm going to keep it until I pass away.
i had one for years in the 70's. one of the best cars ever.
I have a near perfect and totally original 1966 Amazon. I love it.
I had a 1969 122s in 1978. Even though it was only 11 years old at the time it looked like an antique styling reminiscent of the 50s. Lovely car to drive, very sporty with a 4 speed manual gearbox. I like stories like this. Makes me reminiscent for a time I wasn’t even alive. Thanks for watching!

Thumb up from Sweden! ;)
This guy's sales pitch has me sold; if only I had the sticker price $ to buy his legendary BEAUTY! One thing is sure: He won my subscription!! 👍😁👌

Nice car, greetings from sweden😀
looking for insight on what you did for brake upgrades. I am currently in the process of making the car safe to drive before electrifying the car.
Once again, great video production and an interesting topic as well. Arthur should be on his way to loving new home in no time.
Buy my Volvo, so I can be the next best voiceover artist today! Great job!

What size rims and tires you running on? 2" lowering springs?
High five from Sweden :-D

Congrats men this Volvo always be my dream project but only a dream nice that you guys make it happened congrats 👍
Beautiful car. Nice work on the resto!
That thing is sooo beautiful. I almost had the option to trade my 97 V90 for 1966 Amazon wagon with something like 800k miles... After watching this I'm a little sad that that couldn't happen
Then I suppose this is your second opportunity, sans trade?
Has it sold? Do you still have it
What did it sell for? I'd love a car like this, used to have a 73 142, my first car. I always wanted an Amazon, or a 164.
Beautiful car! Love resto mods
is this 122s still around for sale very intersested....
Hey man sorry if I missed it, but how much lower is this car from stock. I saw that you did the ebay honda coilover setup, but you ended up taking them out. What did you go with after that? Very nice.
What is the BG music? It's great.
When did you sell it, and, if you don't mind saying, for how much?
In total how much did it cost for the restoration of this car ? I
122 body fits over a zo6 chassis really well it seems.
Nice car mate 🇸🇪👍🇦🇺
Is it still for sale
Hey. That brake booster? Do you have a part number. Im running manual brakes with the same ( i think) wilwood tandem master cilinder. I have a 65 amazon b18
Sold???? If so do you have another one like it?? Thanks Lonnie
Amazing 😉 Arthur!!!
turbo, cruise control , air con ?.

svcogs: How 'bout a video on YOUR car?
Still for sale???
What specs are those rims and tires
Cudos to the dude driving the car ... full Swedish BMI, dressed appropriately, and with the smile of future burnouts...
Did you ever install a breakaway steering column in a 122s? Great video - you are a very talented communicator!
It's as simple as swapping over the steering box and column all the way to the wheel. I've not converted but I have serviced the boxes
@@DavidBello Thank you David, Have you ever owned a 242 GT?
Well...do you still have Arthur, or has he been sold?
You visited all the states west of the Rockies but didn't list Utah? There's a lot of Volvo enthusiasts along the Wasatch Front (thinking about the Bonneville Bricks) and quite a few Swedes!
On a side note, you would do well narrating in film or audio books.
Was it ever sold?
Yes in April 2019
Now, I do love references. "I fought the law".
I didn't expect wolverine to drive a volvo, great car though
Is it sold?
ayzman80 yup
Why have we devolved from this era?
This sold?
Yo man, what's going on here? You delete the original upload? -Chris
East Coast Classics I changed it to private. I had to reupload this with some audio changes to be copyright friendly. The car is still for sale. Will be back on eBay tomorrow.

Jesus, an imaginary person, gave up a weekend.
What? No dual SU carbs? Sacrilege!
Nice commercial!
Volvo Amazon is ugly... even the Volvo 343 looks better
I think it's a beautiful car.
Youve got to be kidding. The Amazon is a classic car deaifn. The 343 looks like the boxy Mazda GLC from the early 1980s.
I Love Mylar Balloons Forever Ugly? It's actually a really attractive car, looking like a baby Chrysler New Yorker. If Volvo made a pillarless version, it would look utterly amazing.
