Charleville-Mézières Station (France SNCF) on 18th April 1999
Gare d' Charleville-Mézières
On my next expedition to France and Belgium, concentrating in the Ardennes Region, I called into Charleville-Mézières Station. A delightful location and quite a busy area. In my few hours here I witnessed BB15000/16000 and BB22200 on some long passenger trains and on local services the classic SNCF Railcar and DMU. Freight was using the station avoiding line, only just in view, where I witnessed a class 26 pass with a cargo train. It was getting late in the evening so I had to leave this interesting city to find rest for the night.
I do hope this video entertains and evokes old fond memories of the European Railway Scene of the era. I hope you are enjoying the series, and if you are familiar with the areas featured, feel free to comment and if you do like the clip please subscribe and Like.
I dedicate this video to my dear friend's wife who sadly passed away at the end of last week, after a long illness. May she rest in peace....
Been going to France since the 1990s love everything about their railways STILL have loco hauled trains with comfortable seats snd huge windoes to look out of! superb!!
Yes although I have not been on any SNCF trains for around 10 years, they still look very comfortable. Many thanks Andrew as always and best wishes...Mark
Good evening, magnificent flashback that you offer us through this video, thank you very much!
If a few BB 15000s still exist, the 16000, 16500, X4500 and many Corail cars have disappeared from French rails.
Heartfelt thoughts for the lady who left us, and courage to her family.
So many thanks and I will pass on your very kind message....my sincere regards to you always...Mark
That was different. Some fine looking machnes on show there. Very good. All the best.
Many thanks to you as well and best wishes...Mark
❤super j'aime les vielles locomotives
They are our heritage.....Many thanks and kind regards Lional...Mark
Aie aie aie!!!! Encore une belle video de notre ancien et bon chemin de fer. Merci
I have watched an up to date video on this location and notice not much change at all. Many thanks and my sincere regards to you.....Mark
Wow, what a video. Thank you again for sharing. This location unfortunately has no more loco hauled trains apart from freight. Such a shame as there is so much character in your video
Many many thanks for your kind appreciation....my best regards to you Ben as always...Mark
Ouahhhh Merci merci merci.
Many many thanks to you Christophe for the info and update....yes very sad that has all gone....great memories and my sincere regards to you sir....Mark
@@spompey thank you Marc 👍
Thanks for this. It certainly brings back memories. Those Corail coaches are the best I’ve ever ridden on. Much more comfier than the modern units now in their place. Such a shame there’s not many left on the SNCF network.
I don’t know if you can remember but do you know what the destination/origin was of those loco hauled services? Thanks.
Ahh let me have a look in my faithful timetable, (referring to the 1998 issue) Many thanks and best regards...Mark....Reply soon....
Right as far as the timetable goes, Arrival at 18.34 and departure at 18.42 was train 2129 from Lille to Strasbourg. 18.57 arrival very possibly train 1725 from Paris as also train 1627 arriving at 19.43. Local trains I believe were to and from Charleville to Sedan....I expect some one will clarify all this too...Many thanks and best wishes....Mark
@ Thank you so much. I find it really interesting seeing what long distance services there were before TGV. Thanks again and best wishes to you too
@@spompey Oui exact. Et la RIO88 poussé par la 66400 venait de Givet
@@christophecricri156 Many thanks Christophe and best regards....Mark
Les oiseaux 🐦 keeping you company. Is very busy; don't the class 15000 look superb in those liveries. A nice unrefurbished Caravelle DMU too.
Very superb indeed Andrei....always thankful to you.......Mark
