Should really bring back the Superstars panel show. It was an amazing way to showcase the drivers in a more banter role. Not having to put the professional cap on every time a camera is put in front of them. Will show everyone who the characters in the sport are

I love the way that Paul Morris has the credentials to call out the issues as he sees them. He is a great character but also someone that puts so much back into the sport. Norwell is a great place to learn. Let's see more like this.

    Paul is right,
Something needs to happen. For the premium brand of motorsports in Australia to have such low recognition of the sportsmen that are competing in the category in Australian households is a gigantic problem that needs addressing.
If I owned Supercars I would be asking myself if the current model of Fox/Kayo is a good long-term strategy versus going for a more sponsor-friendly TV/online package that may not pay as much initially but could pay off in the long run.
I admire Cromley and Skaife, they actually do a great job of keeping the punter interested, and they have the cred a career commentator just doesn't have, but maybe mix them with someone who is a proper sports commentator, I think Barreta was good in this role. One person to entertain the rusted-on, one to draw in new fans. F1 has been doing this from the time Murray Walker turned up and it worked well and they are still doing it.
Supercars need a 5-10-year strategy on how to grow the sport and be willing to radically change the rules if need be. We changed the rules radically multiple times back in the '60s-'90s and people still followed the sport, we will have to do it again before too long, this is just reality, but we should start the discussion now as the category has shown just how hopeless it can be adapting to new regs on time this year.
We no longer have two manufacturers in Australia and we should stop formulating racing categories like we do. Turn the teams into proper sports teams, not just a manufacturer dependant organization.

Lapel mics are the way forward guys (they also don't block the sponsors). That way when the talent turns their head away from the mic we can still hear clearly. Great video!

Agree with Paul on needing more personalities, certainly a must for supercars… but I’m also glad Rusty pulled him up on his call on the commentary team. Even though plenty like to throw shade at them, they are world class and I don’t think we could have anyone better up there

Yes, but rusty is part of the same age gang, protecting his turf.. and what makes rusty so good, ld rather listen to Paul Morris every day as his got his finger in the pie with young people coming thru, you can never hold that back on anybody whos working for the future of young people in a sport he obviously loves..

Excellent video, guys. and you are 100% correct. No offence, but im not a fan of Brodie. Why? because he came out of nowhere from the US with no introduction to the australian fans who have no interest in US motorsport. Im not dissing his talent. He's obviously a very good driver. but it's all down to the way new drivers are introduced to the fans. Jack Smith is another example. If there was a sideline TV show (like the old days of Rusty on RPM) im sure the fans would get to know the new drivers as they arrive on the scene and would probably get a bigger and better following right from the start of their careers. i know times have changed, but peak supercars for the fans was back when it was aired on channel 10, not hidden behind Murdoch's paywall.
I recently saw a photo of Rusty with Barry sheene. bought a tear to the eye. aaah, the good old days of proper motorsport coverage!

Kosteki is a Sandgroper. His old man was hard core quarter-miler, Grandpa had some business coin.
Done some serious NASCAR training prior to returning home. He's a serious talent. Dare I say SVG like?

Why doesn’t Supercars do a Drive to Survive series like F1 seems to have given the fans a great insight on their favourite drivers and the sport has only grown from it

Because just copying what other people do rarely works. What they need to do is think of something better.

@@anthonypearson6759 Spot on! If you just copy others you will always be a Burger King to a McDonald's.
Supercars is broadcast on Fox/Kayo which is owned by News Corp, yet the sport gets minimal coverage in News Corp publications which to me highlights a big problem with the current broadcast package. Maybe this is a better thing to address before reality shows.

V8 Supercars extended their existence with the old HOLDEN v FORD fantasy for what other reason only those who r part of the rort can explain (can wait for that) really r these cars manual? Well maybe but they r very very advanced transmissions. Anyway let’s see where we will b in 3 years time. I am surprised that the Europeans can’t put a car on the track that is competitive with the USA product. Why is it only USA products racing, oh, the old ford v Holden in disguise; Mustang v Camaro.
