History has largely forgotten the plight of the working class man in England, preferring to blame all English for all global oppression, but life was pretty shit for the average man, woman and child, only improving because they fought and paid with blood so we could have an easy life.
Isambard Kingdom Brunel actually became a police man to help suppress a revolt in Bristol which was interfering with his bridge building, the workers just wanted the right to vote for their local mp, it's the sort of thing that should be taught in schools, we found a happy medium without going to far but instead my 8 year old girl is told about upper class white women starving themselves, and blacks on the other side of the globe.
      Rant over, soz.

These are very hard-working people, and doing a difficult job for many. I know many people from India and Pakistan, and they are not so removed from our modern world that safety glasses and hearing protection are a stretch. It’s all about what the government requires unfortunately, as the owner/manager could provide some level of safety.

The vendor buying the hinges could require proper PPE as a condition of the contract. Corporations, regardless of what country they are from, simply don't care about employee safety unless they are forced to do so by the government or the purchasing corporation. We as end users also have a say. We can find who buys their products and demand that they enforce a safe work environment for workforces that make their products. And then do unannounced inspections for worker safety. I swear, my ears are ringing just from watching this video. I can't imagine the deafening noise in the factory.

@Nancy Pelosi maybe you need to visit manufacturing plants in the US and see that there is a huge difference in housekeeping, safety and quality between them and this plant. Do you really think you are morally superior to Americans who want a decent full-time manufacturing job rather than flipping burgers for part time jobs paying minimum wage? Or buying foreign made goods where workers are paid pennies an hour? Most people I know would gladly pay a little more to get products made here and employ Americans. You don’t really care as ling as you stay in power in Congress and use your insider trading to get rich while Americans wait for the jobs Trump has been bringing back home.

@Nancy Pelosi there are new steel mills being built in southern states and shuttered ones reopened in rust belt states. Obama said it wasn't possible to bring manufacturing back home. The new trade deal that replaced Nafta is bringing jobs back home. Globalists like you in Congress wrote tax laws that actually rewarded companies to relocate offshore. And how about you do something about your own district - the homeless villages and mountains of feces on your sidewalks are driving tourism away and turning it into an open sewer.

After working in a steel factory in USA for over 40 years, I can say without reservation that this is bullshit, the way the shop is run. I know the people need the jobs, and need the money. They also need their eyes, ears, fingers, toes and brain cells. The owner, for the sake of his business, should clean up the operation. Apparently there is zero government oversight, and no chance for an injured worker to sue when they are crippled for life. The "free market" at it's finest.

These poor workers need to be provided with some minimal safety equipment, a decent workstation, and be required to wear closed shoes. Just because they need a job so bad that they are willing to put up with this is no reason to treat them solely as a commodity. The owner should be ashamed.

two days ago, I saw pictures of about 30 hungry children with their moms, no chance to live... I saw farmes with empty-eaten fields by locusts, also no chance to arrive next year with their families... And no one, no one is helping them. I do not know, what's a better life? These workers in india or the people in ethiopia oder Nigeria or somewhere else in Africa...
