You can, but I've found the heat from those leaves a lot more notches to sand out. Wires give smoother cuts, but you have to be continuous; knives are easier to control in short slices

Thank you. I think is for that duel purpose: a style choice but also for an additional angles to take shots.
Rather than cutting it can't you use a hot knife from a wood burning set. The PVC is just plastic

a hot knife isn't ideal as the fumes aren't good
