HAchubby, before moving to USA, had to close her HAchuMart. Whether it is for a few months or forever, it is unknown. This is an update on the Korean convenience store.

It's sad to see Hachumart go. I was one of the first foreign snipers to have visited as the pandemic was easing in Korea. I showed up on the December 14th, 2021 stream as Kevin the Hawaiian sniper teaching in Busan. I remember going into Hachumart blending in as a normal customer then surprising her at the register. I really just went in to show my support since business seemed slow and I worked nearby, I went in looking for a sandwich and a diet coke. I walked out with several generously filled bags of goodies and an hour later of being content. It's so cool to see Hachumma popping off, nearly a year later elevated to IRL Twitch streamer of the year in 2022. I wish her the best, as I know Twitch is shutting down here in Korea and also hope for the best with the second incarnation of Hachumart under Mint's management. A real honor to have been part of Hachumart's legacy and leaving my mark with the guest book entry.

What a weird thing to say. I don't think her dream implied loosing money... I find those supposedly positive comments almost obscene.
There's a lot of smart things you can do with your failures, being proud of them isn't one of them.
The best thing is usually to learn from them before moving on to some new project so you don't repeat them.
I wish her the best of luck for overcoming her potential future difficulties. I fail to see how denying that anything wrong happened could help her in any ways.

@IronFreee: It all depends on your point of view. One point of view: she lost money to Hachumart, and ended up having to close it. Easy and cynical point of view, but also one that has alot of lessons to learn from. Another point of view: her dream was to open a convenience store to stream from - and she did that. Most people don't even try to start their own business, and she had one for a few years. What aVerySillyBilly said was true, from a certain point of view.
What you said about learning from failures is true, and so is aVerySillyBilly's comment about being proud of what Hachubby accomplished. Personally, I'd say put the two together.

@@mikek0135 Her business was constantly loosing money, that's not what anyone would call a "successful business".
It doesn't depend of our points of view, Her business was constantly loosing money, that's not what anyone would call a success.
her experience of that failure depends on her point of view. She doesn't look particularly happy of having to close it. At best, she can be relieved to stop loosing money and worrying for another year. She can rejoice that this whole failed experience is ending.
But let's talk about your "point of view"...
Your definition of what makes a "successful business" is useless, as it could apply to every business ever created.
Trying to ignore everything that went wrong to pretend that it was a success is what delusional people do. And they usually keep doing it all their lives because they never learn anything.
That's also how people stay in terrible relationships, convincing themselves that it isn't as bad as other people see it.
There's nothing positive in pretending that a failure was a success and there's nothing cynical in admitting the facts, even if it isn't what you wished it was.

I remember watching HachuMart streams when I was in college having to stay awake all night to finish assignments. Everything was at home and digital during the pandemic and the HachuMart streams helped keep me awake and excited whenever a customer came in. I'll always attribute part of my degree to Hachubby for helping me stay awake

hi hachu! i don`t know you are going to read my comments or not but i have some suggestions for your shop.
1st one is maybe you can try to promote your shop through social medias (i.e. instagram & tiktok) that focus on the state where your shop located, specifically in the city your shop located. Basically its promote your shop/products based on target segmentation of people that lived pretty close to your shop. Also as far as i remember there`s one bus stop right in front of your shop, so it`s probably much easier for people who doesn`t have personal transport.
2nd suggestion is sells your product through online. You (or someone else the work for your shop) can do a website that specifically for your shop and list down every single one of your products there so other people can straight up order & pay your products. Just like any other big companies do in current time. At the top of that, you`re also can added the GPS where your shop are so that people with personal transport can write it down and go straight to your shop. I`ve seen some business owners did like that where i live right now.
I know it`s going to be pretty difficult and tiring to do what i`ve suggest, but if you`re seriously to make your shop stays operated for many years to come and gain income (especially to covered up those money you`ve lost in past time) i personally believe my suggestion is among the good suggestion. Probably other business people would also say the same thing to. I took degree in business, so yeah ... my suggestions are among the basic suggestions I could say =)

I applaud her for being able to open a store and try to support her family. Looking at the shelves and the stock stresses me out a little though, I bet the profit margin was unfortunately not so good. I haven't stocked inventory for a store in Korea before, but I feel like it would need way less of a boutique feel if it was to be successfulalthough it'd probably be quite boring for a streamer. I think it needs full-time attention to succeed. I just hope she isn't burdened with having to financially support numerous people now :(

That was the exact reason why she opened HachuMart, to still live the mini mart part time streaming life IN HER OWN store

it's sad, but i can't say i'm surprised, tbh. with just how numerous convenience stores are in asia, you really need to have everything planned out well before investing in something like that. not to mention the store itself was pretty small in comparison to the bigger name stores. unless you had your own brand of good quality items/food right from the start, it was gonna be an uphill battle.

Sad to see Hachumart close. That said i don't understand why she went to Texas to stay at Miz's house again now, it would have made more sense to stay in Korea and ride it out and make as much money as she could there in the final months before Twitch closes in February. After that she could have gone to the States to continue. Now all she's doing is staying in the US with no real plan, just memeing about getting a Visa, but is she really gonna move there permanently? away from her family and friends back in Korea? i don't see that happening.

But if she is willing and ready to take that risk and moving is something she wants to do, then all the luck to her i hope she can still come back her family now and then. But if not and she plans to do something elsr or stream on another platform in korea then thats could be another option too.
