My question is, being that I am really great with customer service yet not the best at details would it make sense to join a company that has a stable network of people for insuring employees in the transportation field? I am great with people but still on the fence on joining this career change.
Well your state should should have an exam prep for the test which is going to teach you the ABCs not to mention exactly what you need in order to take the test. WebCE is a good place to find this study guide. Obviously this will sound conceded but once you get past the test, I would like to believe that my video series is the most comprehensive training you can find anywhere. Keep me posted on your progress w the test. Hopefully I can steer you in the right direction as far as who to go work for or what you will need to do if you decide to go independent and be self employed

Hey there! I'm 25 years old and have an offer to join a specific company for selling life insurance to businesses for their employees. This would be my first time outside of an hourly/salaried role, 100% commission. I'm great with people and am a fast learner, but I can't help but feel it may be selfish to take this job instead of a more traditional one, seeing as we aren't made out of money. The other half of me is excited to try something new as I have a wide ranged skillset already. I'd be the agent supervisor. What would your take be on this?
Jeez! I am not sure I can give you much help here. That’s a different type of insurance than I know plus I have no idea all the other important details of the job and your life. Would love to help but not sure I can on this one

Do you think a complete newbie could work in this field? Never done sales or basically any phone work. However I have a ton of mental strength and check all the things you listed. Would be an absolute newbie in the insurance field. Pivotal point in my life and curious on your thoughts. Thanks.
Absolutely! I have seen many people with little more than a pile of tenacity turn into great successes. Picking the right place to enter into the biz tho is vital!
I know this video is old but I hope you can answer my question 🥰. I've been I. Training for about 2 months and I just feel like in not getting it. Since the covid there had been a lot of pressure for sales and I haven't been able to produce anything and my money is low. I understand age suffering for a year to get it right is just not on my to do listen and people not understandinghiw serious covid is in the work place is not what I want to deal with. You hit it right on the head about the tough skin and I feel like in this when it comes to who you work for shouldnt be the part you have to grow think skin for . but my question is how you choose the best company? Like the company I am training with seems good but I didn't know the concept of leads and that some companies don't train don't pay training and you have to buy leads . so how do you know what your really getting into.
The million dollar question right? How to know if this is the right place to go to work?? Most of my smart ideas are in these videos, make sure you watch the couple videos before and after this one about captive orgs, independent and breaking down expectations. Unfortunately there is no magic Recipe to figuring out the best place to work, especially durning Covid. Best I can do is offer up my personal contact info if you want to talk more about it. Thanks for watching. Jeremysmithacademy@gmail.com
Narrisa, I apologize, somehow I totally missed this email. This seems like a big convo. Would you be interested in just talking on the phone next week for a few and I will see if I can give you some direction? Email me contact info and a good time if interested Jeremysmithacademy@gmail.com
I'm an independent life insurance agent and I currently work with an IMO. Commissions are great and I really enjoy the team that I'm with, but how do Imo's honestly compared to a captive agent position
You need to go to my channel and watch the 2 videos breaking down captive verses independent IMOs. Should tell you everything you need to know. Reach back out after you have done this.
Question: My workplace wants agents to help insureds who are frustrated with the claims department. Claims adjusters feel that agent involvement adds to their indescribably-insane call volume. Are there insurance companies that forbid agent involvement with claims? I would think it would work more smoothly.
I currently work as a quality control agent with a smaller company specializing in Medicare plans. I recently received my life and health insurance license and have been considering transitioning into an agent role; strictly because I do not see a lot of growth potential in my current position. My question is, do you think it would be best to stay within this company that specializes in Medicare (which i am familiar with), or would it be more beneficial to move into a bigger company that has different product options and growth opportunities?
Hey there! So I def need to get some more information from you in order to give you feed back. Would you like to give me your email address so I can ask you a few questions in private ?
Good for you! Hit me up as soon as you have passed test and we can get on a call and talk about exactly what you want to do in this business as far as product offerings, marketing and over start up process. Cool?
I just passed my life and health insurance test and am applying for my license right now. I don't think I did enough research. Can you please help me what do I do next to get to sell insurance?
Big ranges between agencies. Owners normal keep between 30% to 65% on the high end. Do what you have to do to learn the business and then get to the point where you are at the top of the food chain absolutely as fast as you possibly can! I spent 2 years kicking up 50% but I was working under someone who actually took the time to teach me the business so well worth it. Most will try and suppress your education so you never leave. This is a big inspiration for this site. Let me know if I can help more along the road.
This video itself is a marketing scheme he’s not wrong but he’s giving basic information to draw your attention into thinking he knows more than you which he very well might but in the end only 2 things matter your ability to over objections, and your personality you gotta adapt to the customer and make them your friend also most captive agents do not get residuals
Absolutely not, as long as it’s the right one. Watch my videos about Cap vs non cap and then email me after and I can talk w you about thoughts on whatever companies you are considering. Jeremysmithacademy@gmail.com
Hey Jeremy I have my first interview tomorrow for uhc agent and I’m stressing out. Any words to help me out :( I’ve never did this before and I just wanna be the best at it top5 lol
Find my video about Captive Agency’s. It tells you all the questions to ask. They are gonna hire you for sure if you look the part and have a pulse. This should be much more about you interviewing them.
@@jeremysmithacademy I was able to email you. Maybe it was the server but I'm excited to speak with you regarding business ideas and what I can/should do to succeed.
i passed my exam and im debating on joining ffl where i have to buy leads or assurance where they buy your leads and its 100% remote but no residual. to start off which onr do you think is a better idea?
Well if you have watched all my videos, I think captive agencies are a great place to start off but def only a pit stop on your way to becoming independent. With that said, my choice would be all about where am I going to get field trained at the best/fastest. I would ask some very detailed questions to both before committing. I have a video full of all the questions you should be asking them on my UA-cam channel. Find that, watch it and then reach back to me with questions ok
I about to experiment with Facebook ads and I have a site free through NAIP, planning on using that as a funnel, and got my own doman name, through that site I set it up to where people visiting can request a quote or do full app (absent payment section) then I get that info, fill out the app and call them for payment info. That is the plan. I have not started that yet cause have no money for advertizing right now.
Thanks for the comment. I do not actually employ agents. This site is purely educational. With that said, I can definitely help you find a biz home if you would like?
@@jeremysmithacademy good video. I'm interested in becoming a health only agent. Are there any companies that you get you licensed or are you referring to individuals that assist in the process of becoming a certified health only agent. Thank you in advance
@@r.washington9146 I actually may have a good option for you. One of my close friends and I started a company for this about a year ago. Not positive it is exactly what it is what your looking for or not. Would you be willing to jump on a call w my partner and just talk for a few?
Not sure skeptical is the right word. Many do not but in my opinion the only ones that sign up for that are either in major need of another service they provide or they just do not know any better.
I’m just saying if it were me, I would want to be paid directly from the insurance company on MS and not LOA from my broker so that when we parted ways, the residuals followed me.
Become an independent agent and not a captive agent like what your describing. You can get contracts to sell insurance products all on your own. You do not have to go through a broker to get access. What else is this place offering you ? An office? Training ? Leads? Go watch my videos on the difference between captive vs non captive. Those 2 videos should explain everything to you. Hit me back afterwards tho if not ok
Tell me a bit about yourself. Where do you live? Are going planning on jumping into the insurance biz full time, what goals and plan do you have at this point? Email me back at jeremysmithacademy@gmail.com
Jacob, sure thing! I welcome dialog! Also the answer to your what’s possible question is impossible for me to answer. Way to many factors such as skill sets, marketing plan, work ethic ect. But you will def get out what you put in!
That said, you should def sell Medicare Supplements as well because when you sell that, you save them money and then can use that to purchase the FE policy
Its a listen and yes it cost but you have to be hired by a company first to get study guides to be able to take the test but I'm not sure if its like that in all stat
I’m currently talking about working with an insurance agency, I’m 20 years old and my buddy is an agent. He told me that I can work under him for 6 months and we split the commission, and then after those 6 months I get to skip some of the initial steps and become an agent... is that right? He was telling me if I wanted to be an agent out the start I would need 10K in the bank.. I don’t know it gave me a funny feeling in my stomach. Is any of this true? Thanks in advance!
First of all, it’s not uncommon for new agents to work side by side with another agent. Splitting the comp is just kind of a price for getting trained in the field on how to do things. With that said, his next comment makes zero sense. You are an agent from day one assuming you have your license, it should take more than 6 weeks to get trained let alone 6 months and I have no idea what steps you would be skipping after those 6 months anyway. Having some money set aside to pay your bills is a good thing. You won’t probably make any money for the first month and then it will most like be all over the board for a while. For a 20 year old, assuming you don’t already have some huge personal debt load, 10k seems like a very random and excessive number. Finally, I have a close friend who went to work for Kansas life who told me horror stories about the company. They will make you cold call and door knock prospects until you can’t stand it while taking over half of the comp. I cannot recommend them at all. If fact, there is a possibility that I have a friend with a large book of business there that might be interested in talking w you. No guarantees but he moved to Oregon and currently no one is working his clients. It would kick the crap out of door knocking for 50% comp. want me to make a call?
Jeremy Smith Wow! Thank you very much for all of this advice! I had no idea they did that. I tried to do some research and couldn’t find anything like that, so thank you! I haven’t received my license yet, I am completely new and was wanting some guidance. I will need to get my license but yes I would be more than happy to help out your friend if they wanted me to!
Jeremy Smith I am new to selling insurance. 100% I Live in Florida so I have 215 life and health. Not sure whether to do FMO or go work captive. Then I Found out there is co that pay an hour rate also. I’m thinking about doing Medicare. But I feel like I don’t want to be stuck going in to a call center. My concern is. Learning the products 100%. So I can do great and having some to scrub the apps I don’t mind doing the FMO but I feel I need some guidance but not enough to be stuck in a job situation or can’t leave there and lose the book of clients I guess I’m confuse myself the more research I do. Lol
I can only tell you that biting the bullet for a short period of time and getting some training from a captive company before going independent worked very well for me. If you want I can give you some recommendations. Would def stay away from the call centers. I’m coming out w a ton of new trainings that will be perfect for you at your point starting next week. Let me know if I can help
Jeremy Smith ok. Yes. I am stepping away from call centers. Insurance milling. I don’t feel I will get the training I need. Just being robotic. Etc. yes I am open to what you have to share. Thank you

I am about to get out of the military here soon with a wife and son. I’ll be turning 24 as we move, and I currently just got a job at bankerslife to sell insurance. I’m really excited, I love people and have pretty thick skin. I’m hoping to make this a career, I’m not a fan of jumping jobs. Thanks for the video, it helped me gain some confidence!
Much more importantly, thank you for your service !
I’m 20 and am 11% done with my Life and health insurance course. I can’t retain any information I read and I’m trying to have this done by April 11th. Do I just need a license or do I actually have to remember everything I learn in this course. There is a lot of stuff to remember if so.
Very informative. Thank you👍🏼
Glad it was helpful!

DId you get an answer ?

Thanks for informing video!!!
Question: My workplace wants agents to help insureds who are frustrated with the claims department. Claims adjusters feel that agent involvement adds to their indescribably-insane call volume. Are there insurance companies that forbid agent involvement with claims? I would think it would work more smoothly.
You must be in some sort of PnC insurance which I have little knowledge of. This would never happen in the life and health field.
@@jeremysmithacademy Ah, thanks. You’re right, I am in P&C. Our company also does life insurance, but I don’t have an association with it.

Question. What is the difference between owning the agency and working for the agency as far as comissions?
Big ranges between agencies. Owners normal keep between 30% to 65% on the high end. Do what you have to do to learn the business and then get to the point where you are at the top of the food chain absolutely as fast as you possibly can! I spent 2 years kicking up 50% but I was working under someone who actually took the time to teach me the business so well worth it. Most will try and suppress your education so you never leave. This is a big inspiration for this site. Let me know if I can help more along the road.

Thanks! Let me kno if you have any topics you want covered
Is high school diploma required to Take state test ?
No it is not!

I'm curious, I understand you won't necessarily make much starting out but is there any base pay? or is it 100% commission?
Depends where you go to work for but very rarely is there a base pay. Possible a draw against future commission
Hey Jeremy, would it be a bad idea to become a captive agent while trying to start out and learn in this business?

Do you need a license to sell insurance in Florida? Or could u work and sell under someone’s else’s license at an establishment?
Yes you need your own license
i passed my exam and im debating on joining ffl where i have to buy leads or assurance where they buy your leads and its 100% remote but no residual. to start off which onr do you think is a better idea?
Well if you have watched all my videos, I think captive agencies are a great place to start off but def only a pit stop on your way to becoming independent. With that said, my choice would be all about where am I going to get field trained at the best/fastest. I would ask some very detailed questions to both before committing. I have a video full of all the questions you should be asking them on my UA-cam channel. Find that, watch it and then reach back to me with questions ok
@@jeremysmithacademy thank you so much im gonna subscribe and watch them and ill comment again! thanks
How do you find clients?
Thank you for this.
I only want to get licenced for Health. Do you employ health only agents ?

@@jeremysmithacademy good video. I'm interested in becoming a health only agent. Are there any companies that you get you licensed or are you referring to individuals that assist in the process of becoming a certified health only agent. Thank you in advance
@@r.washington9146 I actually may have a good option for you. One of my close friends and I started a company for this about a year ago. Not positive it is exactly what it is what your looking for or not. Would you be willing to jump on a call w my partner and just talk for a few?
Should I be skeptical of a company that doesn’t pay me the selling agent residuals on Medicare supplements? Is that a quality that should be given?
Not sure skeptical is the right word. Many do not but in my opinion the only ones that sign up for that are either in major need of another service they provide or they just do not know any better.
@@jeremysmithacademy So it’s safe to say regarding Medicare supplements residuals should be included, for both agent and broker?
I’m just saying if it were me, I would want to be paid directly from the insurance company on MS and not LOA from my broker so that when we parted ways, the residuals followed me.
@@jeremysmithacademy May I ask how that works?
Become an independent agent and not a captive agent like what your describing. You can get contracts to sell insurance products all on your own. You do not have to go through a broker to get access. What else is this place offering you ? An office? Training ? Leads? Go watch my videos on the difference between captive vs non captive. Those 2 videos should explain everything to you. Hit me back afterwards tho if not ok

Oh also, the business is Kansas Farm Bureau.

Jeremy Smith thank you so much! I’ve watched a ton of your vids now and I’m learning so much. Going to look into getting that license now! Thank you!
Not sure what direction to go. Suggestions? I’m new just got 215.
Need a little more clarification. Direction as in who to go work under? What does 215 mean?
Thank you
@Own Your Greatness yes. I didn't have a problem with the 215. It's the afterwards that I'm trying to get down. Awesome. Definitely thank you. 😀
