Thanks Jason. Yep she's a beautiful spot up here - the water is warm so there has been lots of swimming at the beach. Clear skies and Peace and Looooove 🤣
Hi Logan, Super clean image of M45. I'm impressed! I noticed that you captured that far-distant galaxy (UGC 2838) near the top of the blue nebulosity at about the 12:30 position (if you draw a vertical line through the middle of the nebula, which almost has the shape of an arrow). That galaxy is about 316 Million LY away. Hopefully, your rain/cloud system will eventually dry out.
Thanks Pat. I did notice the galaxy there but thank you for letting me know how far away it is - wow 316 million light years ago - that's mind bogglingly to think the light hitting my sensor left that galaxy that long ago. Clear skies
Thanks very much Stewart. Yes we are very lucky to be able to spend time up here to enjoy the beach and the added bonus is that the skies are relatively dark. Clear skies.
Great photo! Would love to see what your post process looks like using LRGB, since I live in Bortle 9 I haven't really used broadband targets on my 2600MM Pro, but I'm thinking of taking a trip to a darker site soon :)
Thanks very much. I did initially have some of the processing steps in the video but it was getting quite long so I decided to leave it out (sorry). Being in a dark site makes a huge difference when trying to pick up things like the dust surrounding M45 which I think would have been a struggle at home which is Bortle 5/6 and I imaging would be near on impossible in Bortle 9. Taking a trip to a dark site sounds like and excellent idea, especially for doing broadband targets. Clear skies.
Hey Logan, great video! Not at all jealous of your beautiful location there😀 Fantastic setups, I really have to get a permanent rig for my Redcat, it’s just sitting on the shelf! M45 came out really well mate! I can’t believe I haven’t shot it yet in over a year! Same as Orion, we’ll be loosing it to you soon if I’m not careful! I Must get more organised🤣 I am now getting more familiar with Nina though, hopefully a vid coming soon! Great vid Logan & clear skies!
Thanks Simon. Using the ASI533 saved my Redcat for going out on the for sale pages because of it's wonky stars but actually, BlurX would have saved it anyway with the magical way it fixes wonky stars in the corners. Looking forward to your vid on your conversion to NINA. Yep you better get onto imaging that Hunter quickly as he is hurrying across our skies. Clear skies
Thanks Nik. Yep, these mounts are not the cheapest thing in the world and I did think about getting the AM3 because of price but decided to go with the greater capacity mount in the end. Clear skies.
Hi Logan! Nice video. I was thinking, don't you struggle with keeping good PA when having the rigs on the deck? I do the same, but I noticed that the PA does suffer when I go around the rigs on the deck.
Thanks. Yes having the rig on the deck is not the best idea but I'm a bit limited in possible positions up here at my darker site. The decking floor boards will change shape and move quite easily. I try not to walk on the deck at all once everything is up and running but if I have do, I don't find it knocks out my PA, especially with such a rig with a wide filed of view. It would stuff up the guiding but I pause the sequence if I have to go out on the deck for any reason. Having the rock in the hammock certainly made a big difference to stability as guiding was a lot worse without it. Clear skies.
Gotta be happy with that Logan seems to be a working great & what a cracking image to.
Thanks Tich. The 533 and the Redcat seem to be a good combo but being in darker skies helps.
such a great location Logan! nice looking image as always!
Thanks Jason. Yep she's a beautiful spot up here - the water is warm so there has been lots of swimming at the beach. Clear skies and Peace and Looooove 🤣
Fantastic image Logan! Looks like that combo is solid.
Thanks James. Yep I think this combo is a keeper.

Gotta be happy with that result Logan. Lots of fainter dust coming out. Beauty.
Thanks Ollie. Yep I was happy with the result despite the relatively low integration time but I guess that's the joy of darker skies.
Great video Logan, and what a beautiful place to image from…love the Seven Sisters image too…👍🏻

that am5 mount is looking like a great combination with the redcat 👍 awesome results
Thanks Frack. I'm also enjoying the fact that the combo is so damn light for bringing in and out of the house. Clear skies.
FIRST would love to get my hands on a AM5 but as you know the money is tight :( Great project Logan
Thanks Nik. Yep, these mounts are not the cheapest thing in the world and I did think about getting the AM3 because of price but decided to go with the greater capacity mount in the end. Clear skies.
Nicely done. I saw a really wide view image of the Pleiades recently, apparently the dust goes way out laterally.
Thanks very much. Yes there is a ton of dust around M45 so maybe that might be my next project for next year with the Samyang 135mm.

At least you can see it! Nothing but cloud in the Bay of Plenty, bay of astronomical nothingness.
I do feel your pain. Imaging nights are very few and far between these days and the 'clear all night' breed is virtually on the verge of extinction.
