I think this is contact printing, which was not really used for feature film duplication because of degradation of quality from master to copy. Basically, the copy tape and master tape are run at high speeds next to each other with a signal that imprints the master onto the copy.
Awesome....I worked with King/Otari/Systek Videotape Loaders. that put the videotape into the empty shell. Worked with the Otari TMD Duplicator as well....I miss the good ole days!
I'd really love to know more about how the duplicator creates the helical scan recording at high speeds... The head already spins extremely quickly at real time speed - how can high speed recording be possible?
I had the same thought. Then i noticed that he said "mirror mother master tape" and Google came up with this docplayer.net/46208010-Sprinter-high-speed-video-duplicating-system-ntsc-pal-secam.html so the duplication is not done with rotating heads, it is done with a direct contact process.
Had no idea VHS tapes could be recorded at high speeds. Thought it could only be recorded at regular speed.

How many different engineers are involved in projecting and production of VHS cassettes?
You see? VHS tapes don't have any evil souls or blood. It just has tape inside of it.
And that is how VHS tapes are made ;)
what the heck

Yes just like an audio cassette can be recorded at high speed, a VHS tape can as well a 3HR tape in 15 mins, a 4HR tape in 25 mins and so on.
