This was super easy to follow & detailed enough to get mine set up & working first time - thank you so much! I contributed to your Blueprints as they are super easy to use & work so well - what a great piece of work. Can you tell me, is there away to modify the Stock app for time? My clock is one hour ahead of the time here in the UK.
Great video and great work on the templates. Could you add Lifetime to Notifications Blueprint? It would be handy to show that the Bins are being collected tomorrow.
Lifetime is not supported in the firmware for notifications. But you can use the sensor blueprint for it and enter the notification in the template field of the sensor blueprint. See the manual that comes with the Blueprints.
Great clock and blueprint! Thanks for all your awesome videos. I was not able to get it working, however, I was finding some limitations: 1. Send a notification and let it return in the rolling schema. It is whether show it and confirm it by button, or show it and it will disappear fast. 2. Add or modify text to a sensor. (I know there is a optional template box, but maybe you can provide some examples?) 3. Show toggle status of a sensor, could be done by notification, but item 1 is the issue in this case. 4. Remove some the in-build items of the Awtrix firmware (like date, time, battery and temperature). However, I was able to remove that using the IOS app. Bedankt! Ik kijk weer uit naar de volgende video!
There is a blueprint for turning off the date, time etc of the original apps, but you can, as you said, also do it through the purchased app in the playstore. I too however have the same "gripe/issue" with notifications being either "super sticky" (showing only the notification and no other app views) or showing once and disappearing. I would like to be able to make notifications be a part of the app stack just like sensors do.
Awtrix looks definitely more polished and less involving than controlling this clock with esphome. You convinced me to reflash my ulanzi and redo all my automations.
One of your best yT !! Easy to follow-up and excellent product. Enjoyed buying the scripts and the work perfectly. I myself prefer node red. With some puzzle work and the good start i got with your film it should be possible. Thanks 😊
Blueprints are working perfectly, thanks! What's the best way to only show an item when a condition is met? eg show temperature when it is above a threshold
Hey! Thanks. You can create another automation that will trigger the toggle helper when the temperature is above or below a certain threshold. So, you create one automation with the blueprint and another automation that triggers the toggle helper based on your conditions.
Really like to purchase the Awtrix Blueprint.. There is a way to use this blueprint to continue sending info about some devices in my house? Like.. Ups, temperature, energy consume? etc...
@@SmartHomeJunkie So, you can choose entities and continue sending info? Another question.. what happened if there is a message before the info in hold.. will erase the old message ?
@@Kiloptero The video shows an example on how to show one entity. You can create an automation for each entity and the entities will cycle one after another when you activate them with the corresponding toggle helpers. You can show up to 20 sensors in a cycle.
@@SmartHomeJunkie Thanks for the quick reply 🙂, maybe a video then about how to Automate Messages to the Ulanzi 🙂 Ps. Regarding the Blueprint Awtrix Set App timeris the unit now Seconds not milliseconds as in the Video. Pss. Bought the Blueprints they are really great, thanks
Excellent ! the blueprints are really great! thanks for the work! On the other hand, in the blueprint, in the text options and by setting a template, how can we make it display the color of the text according to a state (open/closed), I tried all kinds of models, I can't do it. And if I use the "treshold" function, it expects a numerical value and not "ON or OFF"... any idea to achieve this?
@@SmartHomeJunkie Oh yes that would be great! The idea would be to be able to display the text in color on the Awtrix according to a text value (on, off, etc.) Furthermore we could also see perhaps to display the weather alerts in their colors according to their color codes (green alertness , yellow, orange, red) etc.
Thanks for the great blueprints. I’m very new to ha, but with your videos it’s very easy to learn. I’ve been missing a notification app. Is it possible to notify in a app? Because the notification is standing on the display until I deactivate it. But I want a (trash) calendar notification which is sliding like the sensor app etc. thanks 🤜🏻
Hi there. Does this allow for calendar items within google calendar to be displayed. ie what is due today as i need to put something up to remind my dad what he needs to do each day. Love your videos
Great, bougth the clock and your Blueprint. Question: is it possible to add custom text before the value when using the sensor app? For example: "Outside temp" and then the value.
@@SmartHomeJunkie bought and bought thankls for the blueprints the coffe is on me honestlyis it possible to drop the toggle helpers exactly the same like the blueprints ? that would reduce the workload even more
@@SmartHomeJunkie rue, you can't predict it, but having an unused helper doesn't hurt either. Anyway, I got it all working well! The only hard part is understanding the priorities. For example, I want certain things to be priority 1, like 'meeting ongoing,' while things like 'weather' or 'sensor' should have a very low priority. Unfortunately, I don't see an option for that, and I don’t really understand what happens if two triggers activate at the same time. So far, I use a few routines, like showing Alexa some random animations, notifications when my camera has been on for 1 minute, and rain forecasts (honestly, that one should only show if there’s actually rain coming, and maybe in combination with the weather update). Plus, there are some sensors - really a nice clock! I'm planning to buy a total of three :)
thank you for your videos and blueprints. It is not possible to display several sensors for the "2. Awtrix Create Sensor App"? For example for a room, display sensor.temperature - sensor.humidity - sensor.Co2 at the same time?
Excellent video and blueprints. How do you change the default location weather or location thats displayed? The blueprint weather works perfect but the default temperature is displays is totally different. Thanks
Oh really? That shouldn't be the case. I use the temperature that the weather integration returns. I'd have to double check it. What weather integration do you use?
@michelvankuilenburg2099 From the temp sensor inside the clock. You can turn off the temp app by going to the clock menu by long pressing the middle button
I have just bought your blueprints and I am going trough them right now. Your blueprints are awesome! I have 2 questions: Is there any way to push a message based on a sensor state so that it appears on the display immediately? I am thinking about a doorbell sensor attached to a push button which changes the state for about a second and then returns to its previous state How can I add some text to be displayed within a sensor app? as it is, the app shows the temperature value but I don't see a way to add something like "Outside temperature:"
Yes, 1. Create an automation that switches a toggle helper that you've set for a notification 2. Use the template field in the sensor blueprint like this: Temperature: {{ states('sensor.yourtemperaturesensor') }} See the manual for more hints.
I just got my clock today and flashed it and using your blueprints, great work on those, do you know if there is a blueprint for showing days since? i use to have dates set on my lametric time that i could enter a date and it would show how many days, weeks or years had passed since then.
Great tutorial. Many thanks. Its always really nice to follow you :) I also like the blueprints. Just one question to this: is it possible to get a notification blueprint configured in away, that the toggle switch is set back to off after the configured duration?
You have to switch it back yourself in your automation. Currently there is no easy way that HA can detect if a notification duration has ended on the clock.
Thanks for the instructions and blueprints. Are you able to create blueprints/instructions to display rss feeds? Would be cool to be be able to display news headlines etc
You can enter the Clock menu by long pressing the middle button on the clock. I am not near my clock at the moment, but maybe you can change the time there. Otherwise, check the Awtrix interface on your clock. (Not sure if that helps though. I'd have to check it myself when I'm back at my clock)
Thanks, just realised there is a time option in the Awtrix interface. Just bought the Blueprints so I'm expecting to lose several hours tinkering 😀. Keep up the fantastic work
Not sure why, but my transition time helper is doing 1 = 1 second, instead of 1000 = 1 second. I followed the instructions and set that up multiple times from scratch. Hopefully that helps someone if their transition feels like it is stuck
@@SmartHomeJunkie Thanks to you I have this working and it's amazing! Quick question, I am using threshold values to change temperature based on temperatures, however, with the current template I can't change temperature with individual sensors. Is this possible with your current blueprint? Hard to enter complex template in current box.
Great video. Just what I was looking for... Is there a clever / creative way to use this display to show now & next every prices... Or even a bar graph with prices over the next few hours?
Thanks for the guide. If we already have Mosquito for another integration/service, is it worth creating an additional user and password specifically for the Awtrix/Ulanzi MQTT? Or is it safe to use the same user for both?
Great video! Could you please share the code for the dashboard also? Easier than we have to make the setup ourselves :) And by the way great work with the blueprints. Absolutely worth buying. :)
Love this. Clock arrived today, flashed it, bought the blueprints... All works great! I do however have a query: Is there a way to make the notifications a part of the "app stack" at all? Am I missing something? For example: I have a Sensibo that controls my Split system air conditioner. I don't have a "sensor" that tells me when it is on or off, but I can read that information from the device and subsequently set up toggles or other helpers if necessary. I therefore cannot use the "Sensor App" but must use the notifications to send a message to the device when the AC is on. What I want to do is to have a notification come up on my Awtrix clock that scrolls through with the other apps when the airconditioner is on. If I try and set this up using the notification blueprint then it only shows that notification, or if I make it so that it is not "sticky" it disappears completely. IS this already possible and I'm just not getting it yet, or is this a modification request? I have other devices I'd like to set up similar settings for, such as when other devices that only have on/off are activated, I would like them to notify me via the "app stack" of the Awtrix clock. And then, when I toggle them off, that notification removes itself from the stack.
@@SmartHomeJunkie Ah, makes sense. Out of my learning curve so far. Only started this journey 2 weeks ago. Another query: Do you know how to get the Clock to Reboot from HA? I paid for the Android app for the clock and this enables you to reboot from the app, so it must be possible. I just can't find which entity controls this, or perhaps we need to actually request the entity be added? Keen to hear your educated response ;)
Congrats for your work! I purchased the blueprints. I've been able to make the weather work. It is great, not only for displaying purposes but to learn too! However, I don't know what I can do to make the stock temperature app to update according to my local weather integration. I cannot find anything in the Awtrix manual that points to the specific MQTT topic I should publish to. Actually, I am not sure where the temperature is fetched currently. It updates, but the values has nothing to do with my place location. Any help, please?
@@SmartHomeJunkie Got it. So basically better to hide the temp stock sensor and build your own. Just did it and look and feel is the same, which it is what I actually wanted. Thanks! Curious to know what we can do with the stock apps anyway, but will try to figure out at some point. Cheers!

Is Home Assistant able to communicate with two Ulanzi pixel clocks on the same local network over MQTT? Is it possible to tweak the automations to target both clocks, or would each clock need its own set of blueprinted automations? Presuming they could share the toggle helpers though?
Hi, the setup on my first ulanzi work fine. But overnight the device died. No more wifi signal. Ulanzi send me a new clock, after I described the issue. I also bought your blueprints after having flashed my first clock. Do I have to pay for all upcoming updates on your blueprints ? Thanks for your answer.
Thanks for the video that was great help and the blueprints make it so easy. Small remark, your bleuprints work only if you leave the default MQTT topic, I was need to reset it to default. Is there a wayt to slow down the text speed, I find it too fast .
I think you use an old version. That issue is fixed. Please read the manual and release notes. Text speed can be changed in the device itself by long pressing the middle button and adapting the fps.
Hi Ed, great video. This looks like a really cool device! I know that you said the sound from the speaker isn't so good for music, do you think it could be OK for Text to Speech? This seems like a great way to have a display plus audio output for key alerts or just to grab your attention

@@SmartHomeJunkiethanks for that idea!
Top video sir! I love the clock, it's also a great gift
Great clock and blueprint! Thanks for all your awesome videos. I was not able to get it working, however, I was finding some limitations:
1. Send a notification and let it return in the rolling schema. It is whether show it and confirm it by button, or show it and it will disappear fast.
2. Add or modify text to a sensor. (I know there is a optional template box, but maybe you can provide some examples?)
Hey Ed, I just downloaded the blueprints. Awesome work. I have 2 of the clocks working and am going through your blueprints now!
Yes, you should see them both.
@@SmartHomeJunkie I was able to get it figured out. But thank you again!
I love the blueprints. Working great!
@@JoeyIsaacs Enjoy!
Awtrix looks definitely more polished and less involving than controlling this clock with esphome. You convinced me to reflash my ulanzi and redo all my automations.
Yeah, this works so much better!
Is there a way to have working flows without using home assistant?
One of your best yT !! Easy to follow-up and excellent product. Enjoyed buying the scripts and the work perfectly. I myself prefer node red. With some puzzle work and the good start i got with your film it should be possible. Thanks 😊
Thank you Mark! This clock is so great! And the Blueprints make it very easy to set up indeed!
Thank you very much. Would you know any such device which could stay outside on the home ?
Thank you! Great Video!
Aw, shucks! You're making me blush! Thanks for the love!
@@SmartHomeJunkie and your Blueprints helped me so much! Thanks
Hi Ed, thanks for another awesome video. You have just convinced me to click the order button for this device!
I'm sure you will enjoy it! It's such a lovely device!
Thanks - you make my life generally easier to live !
That's great to hear being a music therapist!
Really like to purchase the Awtrix Blueprint.. There is a way to use this blueprint to continue sending info about some devices in my house? Like.. Ups, temperature, energy consume? etc...
Yes there is! The Sensor app blueprint supports this.
@@SmartHomeJunkie So, you can choose entities and continue sending info? Another question.. what happened if there is a message before the info in hold.. will erase the old message ?
I can see in the video there is only 1 entity you can show.. There is possible to create a group and show more than 1 entity ?
@@Kiloptero The video shows an example on how to show one entity. You can create an automation for each entity and the entities will cycle one after another when you activate them with the corresponding toggle helpers. You can show up to 20 sensors in a cycle.
See the manual that I wrote at github.com/smarthomejunkie/Ulanzi-Awtrix-BluePrints/
Great Video.
Do you know, however, how to turn off the display, such as when you are away or at night? THANKS.
Auto answer : awtrix_XXXXX/power and { "power": true or false}
The Clock is a light entity, so you can use the light.turn_off service.
@@SmartHomeJunkie That's working too, thanks ;)
Awesome ! Thank you for sharing this !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi from Los Angeles! This is so cool, I'm going to give it a try!
Hey there! Thanks for giving it a shot! Let me know how it goes!
Hi, thanks this was really helpfull, love your channel. When is the video coming how to use the Ulanzi as a presence detector. Keep up the great work
It won't. This functionality is taken out of the firmware at a later stage.
@@ccrccrdk That's great to hear. All info about new functionalities is in the manual.
Excellent !
the blueprints are really great! thanks for the work!
Interesting idea. I think I can add a function to change the color based on some template code.
@@SmartHomeJunkie Oh yes that would be great! The idea would be to be able to display the text in color on the Awtrix according to a text value (on, off, etc.) Furthermore we could also see perhaps to display the weather alerts in their colors according to their color codes (green alertness , yellow, orange, red) etc.
thanks! amazing!!!
Yeah, I have two clocks now and I use them on a daily basis.
Thanks for the great blueprints. I’m very new to ha, but with your videos it’s very easy to learn.
I’ve been missing a notification app. Is it possible to notify in a app? Because the notification is standing on the display until I deactivate it. But I want a (trash) calendar notification which is sliding like the sensor app etc. thanks 🤜🏻
You can use the sensor app for that. Just enter the norification in the Template field.
Hi there. Does this allow for calendar items within google calendar to be displayed. ie what is due today as i need to put something up to remind my dad what he needs to do each day. Love your videos
ive just seen that you have already intergragted this. your the man!
Yes indeed, you can show Google Calendar showing the calendar blueprint, and it will also remind you 15 minutes before the events start.
Yes indeed, you can show Google Calendar events showing the calendar blueprint, and it will also remind you 15 minutes before the events start.
Вы прекрасны, СПАСИБО!
Great, bougth the clock and your Blueprint. Question: is it possible to add custom text before the value when using the sensor app? For example: "Outside temp" and then the value.
Yes, please read the manual that comes with the Blueprints. You can use the template field to display custom messages and sensor values.
@@SmartHomeJunkie i think this is not working anymore. When you put a template the sensor value is not displayed anymore ...
@@guntherdeherdt7279 This is still working. I use this on a daily basis on two clocks.I guess your template is wrong.
i watch just now this video it's amazing and i want one but is it still good would you still recommend it 2024 EOY?
Yes, totally!
@@SmartHomeJunkie thanks ordered for 35€ from ali and it even has HACS integration now^^
@@SmartHomeJunkie bought and bought thankls for the blueprints the coffe is on me honestlyis it possible to drop the toggle helpers exactly the same like the blueprints ? that would reduce the workload even more
@ Thanks for your support. I don't think you can import the toggle helpers and I cannot predict what helpers you need.
Can you use this as count down timer?
thank you for your videos and blueprints. It is not possible to display several sensors for the "2. Awtrix Create Sensor App"? For example for a room, display sensor.temperature - sensor.humidity - sensor.Co2 at the same time?
Yes, it is if you use the template field.
Very nice! Thank you
Thank you! 🙏🏻
I am very interrested in your clock dashboard. Can you show, how you did it?
Great stuff, just purchased. Is there any way to change the icon based on the sensor value?
The Blueprints do not support this at the moment.
I have just bought your blueprints and I am going trough them right now. Your blueprints are awesome! I have 2 questions:
Is there any way to push a message based on a sensor state so that it appears on the display immediately? I am thinking about a doorbell sensor attached to a push button which changes the state for about a second and then returns to its previous state
How can I add some text to be displayed within a sensor app? as it is, the app shows the temperature value but I don't see a way to add something like "Outside temperature:"
Yes,
1. Create an automation that switches a toggle helper that you've set for a notification
2. Use the template field in the sensor blueprint like this: Temperature: {{ states('sensor.yourtemperaturesensor') }}
See the manual for more hints.
Hi I'm loving the blueprint! Where can I raise an issue if I think I've found a bug?
On my Discord server. See the manual for more info: github.com/smarthomejunkie/Ulanzi-Awtrix-BluePrints/
Thansk a lot for the video. How would you display the answers from GPT or even better from Ollama ? Thanks
Thanks for this video, I have bought the blueprints. When will you be showcasing the room presence functionality!
It's been taken out of the firmware unfortunately, so it will never work. 😢
Good stuff 👌🏻 but can i use Awtrix and your blueprint with my esp32 & a ws2812b 32x8 matrix. If yes, are there detailed docs somewhere about that.
Yes, it works on your own matrix and an esp32 as well. You can visit the Awtrix Discord server for more info.
I just got my clock today and flashed it and using your blueprints, great work on those, do you know if there is a blueprint for showing days since? i use to have dates set on my lametric time that i could enter a date and it would show how many days, weeks or years had passed since then.
That's actually a great idea for a new blueprint!
I bought one off the back of your video.....Hope this isn't a dumb question - can you use it as an alarm clock?
This is actually a great idea. I can create a blueprint for this as well!
Thanks for the instructions and blueprints. Are you able to create blueprints/instructions to display rss feeds? Would be cool to be be able to display news headlines etc
It's on my list, but I didn't find the time yet.
Great video, so easy to follow. One issue I have is that the time is incorrect. How do i change it ??
You can enter the Clock menu by long pressing the middle button on the clock. I am not near my clock at the moment, but maybe you can change the time there. Otherwise, check the Awtrix interface on your clock. (Not sure if that helps though. I'd have to check it myself when I'm back at my clock)
Thanks, just realised there is a time option in the Awtrix interface. Just bought the Blueprints so I'm expecting to lose several hours tinkering 😀. Keep up the fantastic work
@@nickgreen67 Thank you for your support. I really appreciate it! 👍🏻❤️
Not sure why, but my transition time helper is doing 1 = 1 second, instead of 1000 = 1 second. I followed the instructions and set that up multiple times from scratch. Hopefully that helps someone if their transition feels like it is stuck
@@gkilm Yeah, it changed overtime. See the release notes of the firmware of Awtrix light
Is it possible to display two sensors at the same time? I'd love to display GPU and CPU temperatures at the same time.
Yes, that is possible if you enter the two sensors to the template field in the blueprint that I created.
@@SmartHomeJunkie perfect, I'll do that thanks 👍
@@SmartHomeJunkie Do you have an example of a template that would display two sensors? Having trouble.
@@TheLawIX {{ states('sensor.sensor1')}} {{states('sensor.sensor2')}}
@@SmartHomeJunkie Thanks to you I have this working and it's amazing! Quick question, I am using threshold values to change temperature based on temperatures, however, with the current template I can't change temperature with individual sensors. Is this possible with your current blueprint? Hard to enter complex template in current box.
Once reflashed, what is the sensor being read for the standard temp and humidity displayed via AWTRIX Light 0.88? thanks!
The temp value is way off because of the heat of the device itself.
Great video. Just what I was looking for...
Is there a clever / creative way to use this display to show now & next every prices... Or even a bar graph with prices over the next few hours?
🎉 Besteld, dankjewel!
Thanks for the guide. If we already have Mosquito for another integration/service, is it worth creating an additional user and password specifically for the Awtrix/Ulanzi MQTT? Or is it safe to use the same user for both?
You don't need an additional user.
Great video! Could you please share the code for the dashboard also? Easier than we have to make the setup ourselves :) And by the way great work with the blueprints. Absolutely worth buying. :)
Where to buy it in the UK?
Yes, you can use the template field of the app blueprint. Just place a message into that field.
I'm curious about the Room Presence Detection possibility. What was meant with that?
It's taken out of the firmware unfortunately.
That's not possible. I'd suggest you use the Sensor blueprint for that.
@@SmartHomeJunkie Got it. So basically better to hide the temp stock sensor and build your own. Just did it and look and feel is the same, which it is what I actually wanted. Thanks! Curious to know what we can do with the stock apps anyway, but will try to figure out at some point. Cheers!
@@sesardelaisla The stock apps are rubbish. Only the date and time are okay. I disabled them on my devices.

Great video
Thanks.
Good morning and thanks for your videos!! Could you tell me what is the battery capacity and voltage of the watch?Thankyou!
Is Home Assistant able to communicate with two Ulanzi pixel clocks on the same local network over MQTT? Is it possible to tweak the automations to target both clocks, or would each clock need its own set of blueprinted automations? Presuming they could share the toggle helpers though?
You can select multiple clocks in the blueprints. So only one automation can address multiple clocks.
@@SmartHomeJunkie Awesome, thank you.
No, you don't. See the manual on how to update for free: github.com/smarthomejunkie/Ulanzi-Awtrix-BluePrints

Seems you have done such a good job Ed that these have all sold out now!

Hi Ed, great video. This looks like a really cool device!
I know that you said the sound from the speaker isn't so good for music, do you think it could be OK for Text to Speech? This seems like a great way to have a display plus audio output for key alerts or just to grab your attention
No, you cannot use text to speech atm.
