    Thanks for the tutorial. I relaced my CCM Eflex 3.5 with a floating T last night, including the middle part of the double T. I can't wait to try it out for my dek hockey session tonight. Just throwing a ball into it, I can see a big difference from the factory lacing that was very stiff. I wouldn't recommend that glove to anyone, but I managed to get it with the blocker for $300 (Canadian) two months ago to replace my 10-year-old gloves, so for that price it's alright.

      Yeah, I know I missed the best part with my footage! Basically, once I got both sides done, I had a small gap between them. I just creatively weaved the two sides together with the only goal to close the gap and end the laces on the back of the spine. (Pretty much using the same looping patter of skipping one then through the second and third loop but using the opposite side lace instead) It sounds complicated, but once you reach that point, it's not so hard to figure out.

    You mentioned trying this floating tee mod on your G4. Are you still considering this? :) I got my first good skate with the new G4 glove and bauer 1x chesty yesterday, what a difference! Guys were firing rocket slappers into that glove and it held them like it was a puck magnet! I wish I had video of it, I pulled the fattest '80's kick-the-left-leg-out-and-looking-up-while-robbing-a-huge-slapshot-with-a-windmill-glove-save on this kid with a heavy, accurate shot. I just wanted to change the color of my pocket to better match my red and white Premier 4 pads I've now found out that are unfortunately too small for me. I just ended up retracing the stock lacing with red wax lace.
    Granted now seeing this and how big you you can make your pocket I kind of want to try this. I'm not entirely enthralled with CCM r1.5 pocket design when compared to other gloves.

    • @VOGoalie
      @VOGoalie  5 років тому

      Yeah, pockets can be such a personal thing. I like mine like a black hole where nothing comes out. But some like an anchored tee to help feel the puck. The best part is you can always try it and go back later!

    How would you do the end if you don’t want to convert to a floating tee

    • @VOGoalie
      @VOGoalie  6 років тому +3

      On most gloves, the end of the Tee is anchored to the glove with nylon cord that's separate from the pocket lacing. Sometimes it's hard to see, but each side of the pocket should be a separate length of lacing. To keep the Tee anchored, you should be able to just unlace the pocket sides. My recommendation is to untie the lacing (rather than cut it) when you start to be sure. That way, you can always retie anything you want to keep. Thanks for your questions!

    Is it the same process for a double tee pocket ?

    • @VOGoalie
      @VOGoalie  6 років тому

      It really depends on your double tee glove. The basic premise is the same, but depending on how your double tee is anchored and the spine hole pattern, it may take some creative weaving to close the pocket for a floating tee mod. Really though, as long as the lace runs through the binding lacing and the spine holes and there are no large holes (for a puck to fit though) you should be ok. Thanks for your comment!

      While I don't have an INT glove, it may be possible with a 108" lace. But the floating tee does take a little extra length, so if you can, a 120" would be a sure thing. Good luck and thanks for your comment!

    I want to make a floating T on my CCM Eflext 2 760 glove, but it seems like the T is connected with the lacing that holds up the whole glove together. How do I remove the T from the lacing without ruining the whole glove?

    • @VOGoalie
      @VOGoalie  6 років тому +1

      It may be there is a separate lace anchoring your T. I don't have a CCM Eflex2 myself, but on my G4 glove, there is the perimeter lacing that keeps the glove assembled, then there is a separate piece that is laced by the T to anchor it down. For me, it's identifiable because I can see the two ends (which are knotted and visible). It may be the same case with your glove, but that being said, you might need a lacing needle if you undo any factory perimeter lacing. A lacing needle would let you easily relace anything you undo. If you're every unsure, take reference photos or a reference video while you are undoing lacing, so that you can always refer back when reassembling.

      Checked my glove again, unfortunately i can't find ANY knots what so ever. I'm really scared to cut it, tho i got 120 inches of original lace so if i do mess everything up I can relace it. Hopefully.

    • @ArtursJ
      @ArtursJ 6 років тому

      Update: I cut the lace that was connected to the T in half. The lace is part of the perimeter lacing, but since i cut it in half I pulled it out of the T and there were 2-3 inches on both sides so i tied a knot. In short, I didn't mess up my glove and my day. Now tomorrow I'm gonna get skate laces and relace the pocket. Anyways, thanks for the reply, love your channel!

    Nice lacing job! .... but personally not a fan of floating tees.. It makes the top of your tee, the "bridge" less rigid and more prone to fold inwards on a hard shot. The tee is anchored for strength and overall structure of the glove... Un-anchoring it is like removing a load bearing wall in a house. Ever notice that most NHL goaltenders leave their tees anchored? ... It's a goalie glove... Not a bug-catching net :P
