First thing I did with mine was grease everything, it was all bone dry. Swapped out my motor for a Fusion 2300 pro and added a new receiver to use my radio. Next will be servo and shocks. Need to chop the front end, it sticks out way to far. Like to do leaf springs on mine as I want to make it a tow truck.

The shocks fit without shaving anywhere in particular. However, the plastic used for the axle is soft. So you should be careful when tightening the screws.
