Are the writers serious? Derek yanks Casey away mid-kiss from another boy just to dance with him instead... and she accepts it like she was swept off her feet? This is a "jealous love interest makes his move" moment straight out of a fanfiction. Any shipper writing this moment would have probably written Derek as angry and jealous right before he stepped into the scene.
Girl says, "Casey wants you to leave." Derek silently glares as if to say, "Never." Casey tries to kiss a boy, Derek sweeps her away for a dance. And she's into it. This isn't just gravity, it's a black hole. It's a wonder Casey even married her husband and had kids by the time of "Life with Luca" without Derek flipping out and going, "NEVER, SHE'S MINE."
People who criticise the show for having too much sexual tension have clearly not seen the movie. Like they are just inches away from being in a relationship in this man.
I actually noticed that a lot of people either didn't watch the movie or like to pretend that it didn't exist. I haven't read many fics that talk about the movie. I actually enjoyed it - I think it shows a lot of growth for both of them. What about you?

Yo, sorry for not replying earlier. I think it's definitely a good hc and I could definizely see it as something that could've happened. But, I think they would've been a lot more awkward around each other if they actually did it. I'm not sure Casey would get over her freak in that short period of time. PS I'm a huge fan of the hc when they get together in collage :D.

And he got in there! Hc the reason he didn't get accepted anywhere was because he only applied for better collages (the ones Casey picked *cough cough*). Queens was the only one he got into and the reason he was surprised was because he couldn't believe that Casey actually chose to go to the same one as him.
Adding on to what everyone has said here I think Derek and Casey would eventually get even more comfortable at college like say, sleep over at each others dorms and go to the same parties, have more mutual friends etc. It's easier to not acknowledge their relation at all when the family isn't around. Also in the reboot the pilot starts with them in the same bed which means somewhere along the timeline after college and everything they probably decided to get a place together. But I do see something happening between futuritis and vacation bc in the boat scene she was so uncomfortable when he was touching her, and that has definitely not been the case in all the years of them living together. So maybe it wasn't sex but definitely something major has happened.
