They were incredible in early 1970. But just a year later they were much tighter, the groove was deeper, the swing stronger.

Any jazz fans listening to this who can share any jazz records that are as intensely ferocious as these guys were at the time? I can imagine that there must have been. I have heard a lot of '30s and '40s jazz that I'd say "really rocked!" But what else?

I was at this show, it was one of the most memorable concerts I've ever experienced. This was their first NY appearance, and they were young gunslingers, they were there to impress. I felt bad for Arthur Lee and Love who followed them, who were a wonderful band in their own right. Sometimes a group has to follow a band who plays beyond all expectation. I had come to see the Dead who were as mesmerizing as always. When the stage crew started wheeling out extra amps and drums, we didn't know what was going on. When they walked back on stage we were stunned! Later Peter Green and Danny Kirwin walked out on the left side of the stage to play while Mick Fleetwood just stood and watched. When the show finally ended we walked out into the sunrise, cold and wintery, but we were just floating. I'll always remember that magical night...

I find myself here on the day Forrest Richard Betts has departed this world at 80 years old. Truly a sad day, but after listening to this show I know these boys are destined to meet up in the after life. This music will outlive all of us... Word is they started the "Southern Rock" genre. I believe they're in a league all by themselves. They set an unattainable standard... Rest easy Brothers... 🍄🍑✌💙

I was playing guitar in a band at 16 years old & got me a gold top at 18. The first time I listened to Live At The Filmore, I was hooked for life. The Allman Brothers are without a doubt the most talented group of musicians I've ever heard. Dickey was my hero & caused me to spend countless hours each day learning ABB tunes. RIP Dickey, you're with Duane again. Let those harmony guitar licks ring forever! 😁

Love how much Duane would interact with the audience or the crowd. This guy was so full of confidence, Duane that is. He would even sing well at least one time I Hurd him sing just clowning around. Still amazing young as these guys were and they just had hit their stride around the time of Duane's accidental death. I think Greg said that Duane knew it that they had just about arrived. Sorry he didn't get the time to see it all unfold, well he might not had been there bug I'm sure he saw them performing outstanding this whole while, well guess you can say he's been there too!!!! RIP to all the brothers that crossed over.

First time hearing this show…man it’s 🎄day as far as I’m concerned….saw them in Sept. ‘71 saw them many times after but only once with Duane….Man Jaimoe and Butchie sound like the whole drum section of a college marching band…Berry on lead bass…the 2 guitars playing as one. We could never tell when they switched leads but when Duane put that bottle on his finger….fly away fly away…Greg that Hammond B3 with a Leslie….get the hell out!
Thanks so much for sharin’ this show!!

I was only 13 when Duane died so I missed that classic era. Saw them several times in the late 80's, 90' and early 2000's. My best show was probably at Red Rocks in 2003(?).

Soo Many memories!! Couldn't count how many times we've seen them. BTW. If your an Allman fan you MUST visit their "Big House Museum" in Macon. Its where they wrote most of the biggest hits. Has their original notebooks with lyrics... "Highway 41" sign is right outside dinning room window inspiring Rambling man song. ALSO museum workers will direct you to Dwyanes grave which is right near the "Elizabeth Reed" grave which inspired the song. Also can view the railroad tracks and stream where the band members were photographed for those album covers. Couple hours off I-95 Well worth the trip!!. .
