  • So the time has come for the first real test drive of The Meteor Interceptor. We have only driven it very short distances at very slow speeds in the past, so now it is time to test it at a race track up north in Sweden.

    I once forgot to properly tighten the timing gear to the cam in my Mustang... very bad things happened later. It's "amazing" how many things can go wrong when one forgets to torque things down! It's a little time consuming, but using a paint marker to draw a line across the bolt/mating surface, or nut/stud end, is a great way to visually confirm each fastener has been properly tightened.

    IMO one of the best things about this build is the fact that it "fits" inside the engine bay so nicely. Of course you had to build into the car and add the cover on top but it's not hanging out, the front bumper is still there and I love that.

    • @TheMeteorInterceptor
      @TheMeteorInterceptor  2 роки тому +32

      Thank you very much! Yes we have spent a lot of time to make sure that nothing is hanging out. Even though it is not a sleeper, but we have done our best 👍

      Agreed! When you hear "27 Litre V12 tank engine in a car", you expect basically a car-sized engine with a set strapped on, like the aircraft engines fitted to old 30's chassis things - that Brutus monster especially. This is obviously enormous and takes up a lot of space, but fits way better than I'd expected

    After 17 years I finally sold off my beloved 2003 Marauder with a built engine, F1-A cog ProCharger, house of boost 2” cog drive set up, fully welded and V band clamped piping, race intercooler, oh and a GT500 TR6060 6 speed with heavily modified hydraulic pedal and every possible thing to support the power…
    With that said I am in absolute awe at your accomplishments and the 100% jealous of your skills and creation! I know firsthand what skills in fabrication are needed just to pull off what I did (and it was certainly an undertaking) I can only imagine the struggles (and sometimes quite fun) hurdles you guys went through. A camera will only show a very small percentage of the sleepless nights it took to accomplish this beast of a build! Kudos from America on a job well done!!!

    I've been following this build for over a year now and I'm pumped it's finally hitting the road. It's turned out way cooler then I ever thought it would when I first seen the build. You guys have killed it with all the fabrication and how well it came together. It looks sick and with the hood on it you would never know it has such a unique engine under the hood.

    You guys should do a Q&A. I bet alot of people want to know more about your project. Like myself i am wondering where the engine came from. Is from a former centurion tank. I know the Swedish military had bought a few of those tanks back in the day. Or is from a plane or an strv 103.? Btw love your videos been following a while. Hi from Norway.

    • @TheMeteorInterceptor
      @TheMeteorInterceptor  Рік тому +2

      Yes a Q&A could be a good thing, we will look in to arranging that. The engine is a Rolls Royce Meteor engine that is the tank version of the aero engine Rolls Royce Merlin that was used in the Spitfire plane. Our engine came from Swedish military surplus. We don’t know exactly in what tank it was used, but most likely in the Centurion tank. Thank you very much for watching our videos and please don’t forget to subscribe to make sure that you wont miss any updates 😃👍

    Hey from GB 🙂 I love this thing. The driveline fuse will move; the usual sequence is (with correction and strengthening of each component after failure) rear U-joint, complete barley-sugar driveshaft, diff, diff carrier, front U-joint, clutch, bank account, gearbox, bank account, bodyshell 😁 I admire your tenacity and look forward to the first timed run 🇸🇪🤟🏼

    I've been watching you since your first video a couple of years ago and was hooked instantly. I had NO IDEA how the hell you were going to do it but I KNEW you were going to do it. Randomly you pop in other videos like the one from donut garage and I get excited for you. To see it rolling down the road under its own power, AWESOME. I'm just glad I'm not a driveshaft lol Congratulations! This is a huge milestone.

    I was very happy to see it was just a driveshaft that broke, and impressed to see that someone admitted his nuts weren’t tight enough! Respect for taking responsibility and all the best for the next test drive 🙂

    I think it happened atnthe start when it reversed and the engine rmp increased when he selected neutral and then 1st, I heard a not so big jolting sound. And the prop snapped the bolts. Can't imagine the forces on the prop shaft. Any metal movement experts with a youtube channel? Off to search. Damn youtube can be fun. Thanx guys for the awesome creation. 1luv.

    • @TheMeteorInterceptor
      @TheMeteorInterceptor  2 роки тому +2

      Well as we mentioned at the end of the video it was the human factor, we forgot to tighten the nuts. And the reason why it is rough going from neutral to 1st gear is the stallspeed. We are going to in install a bleed valve to hopefully handle that problem 😀👍
