Especially with long distances between places, i wish my country South Africa would invest more in inter-city rail its so much safer than our bus and taxi systems. There is a planned high-speed rail from Pretoria in Gauteng to Polokwane in Limpopo starting in 2025 which is great for linking the economic hub to our poorer, more resource and tourist focussed brethen in the north east
@@ianhomerpura8937 A decade isn't long at all for a project of that scope to find its footing; while there are obvious stability issues with the DRC it's still worth taking proposals seriously and evaluating their merits.

As a Kenyan, I would say Tanzania is trying much harder than Kenya. Tanzania has built so much rail connecting more cities than Kenya has over a relatively shorter time. In addition to that, their trains are electrified. Meanwhile, ours are still diesel trains, which is just unfortunate to be honest. I congratulate Tanzania for how much they have done so far. As for Kenya, our government is pretty much useless at this point. We should do better
Definitely some ambitious projects that have lots of potential. The African Integrated High Speed Railway Initiative is really cool and grand, but I'm more excited about the projects in progress like Kano-Marati.
You did not include (in Nigeria), the double standard gauge linking Kano and Kaduna and also Ibadan to Kaduna. The rail project is phased. It starts from the port of Lagos through to Maradi in Niger Republic. Lagos to Ibadan (1st phase) is completed. Abuja to Kaduna one track also completed.
Bc in Nigeria, ppl find it stressful using a pedestrian bridge, most ppl only use it, when there's an officer around, the tracks are electrified or it's a highspeed train track Ppl do not fear trains in Nigeria, ppl electric train tracks are elevated so that dumb ppl don't cross them or vandalize the cables
Of course I'd like to see more about African railway projects, there are not so many infos about it. It would be nice to hear about the Tanzania rail project with ex-Austrian class 1014 locomotives and ex-German double deck coaches for example.
would love to hear about the African Intergraded High-speed network. I'm guessing the red lines are true high-speed above km/hr trains and the green lines are regular trains in the 150-200 km/hr range?
High speed trains exist only in Morocco when it comes to Africa. And there are a lot of projects to add 1300 km of high speed railway(320km/h),not to mention the RER train that will connect all the cities in each region together with a speed of 220km/h.
Would love to see more videos about Africa, including metro projects, if they are within the purview of this channel. I understand Abidjan in Cote de Ivoire is constructing that country's first metro line.
@@ianhomerpura8937 The tram projects are mostly done in most major cities now the focus is on the capital metro and the linking major cities and industrial areas to the national rail network
Considering the quite insane border fences in Melilla and Ceuta, that's unlikely to happen soon. Also, you don't really want such a long road tunnel. Just load the vehicles on a train, as happens between France and the UK.
It is not possible to build a tunnel from Morocco to Spain within reasonable cost/benefit constraints. The English Channel is 180 meters deep. Th Strait of Gibraltar is 1,000 meters deep. That is the difference between possible and not possible.
I am actually so happy for African nations to finally have some good development of their countries. This is what happens when you take western world nation leeches of your continent from further leeching off your natural resources and allow friendly nations to come and help you progress... Bravo Africa.
I currently live in Nairobi, but lived in in Khartoum, Sudan for 5 years until the current civil war broke out in April 2023. I doubt construction activity of any rail projects will start in that country for the next 10 years.
imagining still building meter gauge in today's day and age. US and Europe are desperate and the politicians for that project were probably bribed. they could have built a standard gauge for half the price or same price for double the length, and way less maintenance issues and cost down the line due to compatibility

At 225 kph (140 mph), there could be two-night, 20-car sleeping passenger train from evening to the second morning between Egypt and South Africa, both ways, with overnight sleeping car passenger service, evening to morning, by the same train between South Sudan and Zambia, both ways, making stops at rail yards every 200 km, followed by a local passenger train making stops at sidings every 20 km. 20-car fast freight and local freight trains could run after the passenger trains at comparable speeds and transit times. National branch lines could connect along this transcontinental line. It should not, however, need to be developed nor operated by Communist China nor by any other entities from outside Africa.
Where do you get the info? Your information is not totally accurate especially about the Tanzania sgr railway network which is among the longest in africa and current opeartional with total cost of 10B dollars

Nothing insightful about what he says. Absolutely rubbish!
Hope to see your analysis over the project Dar es Salam - Dodoma - Tabora with potential of connection with Rwanda, Burundi and DRC
For a decade now, both Kenya and Tanzania have been pushing to build a railway line to Kigali, and across to the DRC. So far no one has succeeded yet.

The considerations needed for wildlife in Africa will be vastly different than Europe and East Asia, and even North America, too.
