  • In Leviticus 24 a guy who is half Egyptian and half Hebrew commits the sin of blasphemy. The consequence for a Hebrew was the death penalty. Should that penalty hold true for this man? What does any of this have to do with us? Come along in today’s Bible study through Leviticus 24:10-23 to learn more.
The Whole Truth is dedicated to taking you through the entire Bible, from Genesis all the way through Revelation without skipping anything.
This series is through Leviticus, the third book of the Bible. Leviticus can seem confusing and even boring. But, once it is understood, it sheds light and gives insight throughout the entire Bible.

Thank you so much for this. It's passages like this in the old testament that made it so hard for me to understand and accept that I never could get through it before. I'm 57 years old and finally committed to reading it and understanding and worshipping our true God.

Thank you for covering the old testament, specifically, Leviticus here, like this, because I truly become confused as to what I perceive as the harshness of God to people, when stoning is actually allowed or even encouraged! Your explanation put it in place, where a bye, ensuring that the leaven and bread example applies to people and the need to ensure obedience and fairness, even though it may seem harsh, but after all, God knows what he is doing! Lol. I really appreciate these explanations.

You're very welcome. I love these Old Testament books for so many reasons, and making me pause and think is one of them.

Praise God for righteousness and vengeance upon my enemies! In accordance with this word and leviticus 24:10-23, genesis 12:1-3, 2 corinthians 6:14-18 I bind to hell anyone cursing the children of God being part of the body of Christ, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah!

but what type of “cursing” was it? Was it our current definition of “Cussing” or was it him saying actual thought-out curses towards God? Or cursing the other person using God’s name?

Well he was stoned for blasphemy so I think it’s for his use of saying the lords name profanely and not what we class as cussing today

He was put to death for how he used God's name, without recognizing the One he was referring to, his Creator. It doesn’t actually say what words were used, but his punishment was not about saying something against the Israelite guy he was fighting. Fully was what his words were against the Lord's name, misusing it.
