14:16 and 17:24 - Darwin would often write, first, from the point of view of a potential opponent of his theory before, second, showing why a particular critique didn't hold up. Christian apologists have a habit of quoting only the first part and omitting Darwin's rebuttal. It's called quote-mining and it's a dishonest tactic used to misrepresent an opposing argument. Kirby does exactly that here.
Here's how it works, using Kirby's own words:
At 20:21, Kirby says, "The fossil record proves evolution."
There it is! We have Kirby, on video, admitting that the fossil record proves evolution! All we had to do to get him to say something we wanted to hear is stop the video at 22:24... before he says the word, "Debunked". It isn't lying to assert that Kirby said these exact words, but it is still a misrepresentation of all he had to say on the subject.
That's what Kirby did with the Darwin quotes.
Not only does he do that to Darwin but he also does it to Valkai by omitting Forrest's explanation of Darwin's writing style (at the three and a half minute mark of Reacteria's video).
After complaining about the "hatchet job" Forrest did to the Reasons for Hope video (he didn't, by the way) Kirby engages in the jaw-dropping hypocrisy by doing exactly the same thing.
You really have to ask yourself; what is more plausible? That Darwin thought his theory utterly without evidence and yet wrote a book proposing the theory anyway (as the quote-mining would suggest) or that he was so confident about the theory that he felt no threat in presenting opposing arguments in their strongest form before showing why those arguments didn't hold up?
