@@MasaMakerhonestly id recommend just trying it and getting used to the hunts. You’ll get better pretty quick after hearing so many hunts. But also if you want to use evidence to have fun just play around with custom difficulties yourself and see what sacrifices you’re willing to make for a higher multiplier. Getting perfect investigation bonuses is a good challenge too and rewards a good bit of XP.
If you're unlucky about the ghost spawning inside you multiple times, its better to change grace period to at least few seconds to have time to react. Changes the reward multiplier a bit but it's better than to be insta killed from a ghost which you could easily guess from the only hunt.
My gf and I have been using this method to get to level 15000 and we think this is best custom to get level up since the Monkey Paw event into hunt has been nerfed. Loved the vid Psycho, keep the great work up!
Snowy weather can be useful detecting Hantus speed and breath. For me Goryo, Onryo and Banshee is those ghost I can't detect (I know what it's abilities but very time consuming). With this mode I gained 10 level in 1 hour average (mesaured in ~30-53 level requirement). The video is very useful for beginners, everything is well explained and well presented, good job!
for a banshee just have a squad of four wait for one to get low sanity and if it targets the low sanity and you can chase it (and pass through it) that means it's a banshee works almost all the time
Yurei, Jinn and Mare are pretty hard to guess too. When I was farming at Woodwind, I could narrow down to 7 or 8 ghosts (Myling is annoying, since you have to be lucky to get the hunt from a relative far distance to check if it's a Myling on that small map). Well, when I get to that point, I just pick a random one. But I've been farming for like 6 hours straight and I only got like 4 right guesses.
Agreed. I didn't saw anyone in this game to loop or even try to do so as a beginner. It's hard to not panic for the most, but to loop you need to have a quite clear mind or you will probably fc up.
Btw, my friend got an Ultra Instinct mode today! He looped a ghost with a car at Tumblewood, but he didn't had flashlight nor any source of light, he didn't even had smudge to use ( he did it completely unprepared, even mentally he was caught off guard ). Meanwhile I had survived by glitching out of house or I would be dead as hell, I wasn't near any hide spot or looping spot and ghost hunted near me 😂 He got out of there yelling to me "Fc Yeaaaaaa! I am the greatest master of this game! Fc thissss!"😂
On tanglewood, and some other maps there is a fun trick. Get a placeable item in hand. You can do this to learn the limits with a friendly ghost. Walk inside until you can place the item. Keep holding the place item button and strafe against the doorway until the the item disappears. You want to be standing where the sound is as if you are inside and at the farthest limit that allows you to place an item. When the ghost hunts, the door pushes you out, and the hunt ends. You have 20 or 25 seconds to set up now. It removes some of the randomness of just hauling ass.
This video is just what I needed. I can somewhat do 0 evidence runs, but squeezing in all this knowledge in a single hunt is really tough. Super nice guide. I always think of Uptown Funk when listening to footsteps. Even twins will make the song feel wrong, even though their speed is close to normal.

Thought I would drop by and give some special thanks to you, I finally unlocked all Tier III and you were a great help :) Some additional tips for those struggling out there: Check the speed: Most obvious ghosts that relish in speeds are Moroi, Revanant and Thaye, they can and will kill you if you arnt careful. Slower ghosts like Deogen and Hantu(in warmth) will be easier to identify, and if you find a ghost with 2 varying speeds, it's probably twins Check the ghost visibility at the kitchen island: Pay attention to, the blinks and the shape changes (Obake, Phantom, and Oni are very obvious in this catagory) Check the sound: Poltergeist will me messing with objects a LOT, it will be very obvious when you hear two objects get tossed at the same time, Revanant slow footsteps are easy to identify when you are hiding, and Myling is the easiest to identify by the measure of how much you got a jump scare because you didnt hear the ghost. Most important tip: DO NOT GIVE UP! This challenge is hard, you will die a lot, you will get the ghost wrong a lot, you will misjudge the ghost a lot, but nothing feels greater than immediately knowing what the ghost is in a single hunt. Good luck hunters!!!
It's good that Psycho doesn't lie in this video about it being "Easy" like most people do. If you're using this method, don't expect to be smashing out successful investigations minute after minute. The majority of the time you will be dying and guessing wrong. You've only got a 14/24 chance of getting a ghost that can be identified using this method and half of those 14 will be moving so fast that you'll panic and die multiple times before figuring out how to time your sprints and smudges. This is a method that is "easy" for experienced players but for newbies it's far more time efficient and satisfying just to play the game properly. You will learn more about the ghosts as you progress.
Every non casual phasmo player should watch and learn this imo, super helpful! Update : the 1st time i tried this the ghost spawned behind me in the kitchen 😂 Worked fine afterwards, couldnt accurately identify the ghosts 50% of the time
For my other intermediate ghost hunters, looping in the garage around the car is helpful bc you can break LOS but still see the ghost, I've been doing it to get better at looping and can still sometimes find out the ghost
I love your videos! I can’t do these hunt speed lvls, as I’m too scared of looping and then listening and focusing on the footsteps, it’s too much for me… but I always appreciate the work you put into them ❤
Hey if your scared of looping or are new to the game you can just change hiding spots in the custom settings to very high. Then you can listen to the ghost from the safety of the closet!
I tried this 12 times and got 2 right. I usually play Professional, so I know it's a HUGE step up for me. I'm sure I can improve my deduction with more practice. Thank you for this guide. PS: I noticed that most of the time I survive the hunt and only then I stop to think what just happened and if anything stood out. I guess this is my biggest issue now.
recently, I have been noticing that the obake has periods during the hunt were it skips the footstep audio, my best guess why it does this is because it doesn’t always leave footstep evidence when it steps

For those that tend to struggle with looping and managing stamina (such as myself lol) a strat I have is to set hiding places to "very high" (this slightly reduces the rewards multiplier but it's still decent) and camp in the lockers in the garage on Tanglewood. You can get a visual of the ghost from there by looking through the three small holes at the top of it; though it's briefly inside of the garage at times, you still might be able to determine how much it flickers. Also, another good way to figure out wraiths other than the salts is if the ghost begins a hunt in a different room--specifically, the room that you're in, as it'll sometimes teleport into the player's vicinity before roaming back to the ghost room. There's a chance it can start a hunt while it's in the room with you. Got really nervous when I first found this out (the ghost showed up and started hunting RIGHT in front of the lockers lol) but it netted me a good chunk of EXP :]
This is very well thought out video covering everything and this is aboslutely fantastic! The strategy I use with my teammates is 10:65X (no grace period is the only difference) at Willow, due to wider space for teammates, because Tanglewood is very compacted and everybody are looping at kitchen counter, but with Willow, Living room, Kitchen and Garage are very large space very easy for multiplayer doing this strategy. Plus if we are lucky with ghost room is NOT living room, the double glass door is wonderful block and we can see the ghost speed and blinking when it's wandering the hallway and kitchen. Great for Yokai test as well, and can lay the salt down the glass door for Wraith and call the ghost to Living room.
Man, every time I do this challenge I have this video on standby since it has the comparisons and references of ghost abilities and feats. Extremely useful, thank you Psycho

Did something similar and was grinding all day! Very effective went from level 12 to 59 in the same day. Managed to get better and better at identifying the ghosts
Ive been using this difficultly but with all hiding spaces and i dont leave without figuring the ghost. And its soooo much more fun than nightmare or just leaving with a guess. I would love to see u playing it this way or even join me with a friend ive been playing it none stop for past week its around 9.15x and so fun
Since i am cant tell the footsteps right away I had to record my gameplay and watch back and compare footsteps lol. But it worked! this video was very helpful
you absolutely can figure out a wraith in one hunt, I just throw salt on the ground and it only becomes more practical to do so when you unlock tier 3 salt because it will slow down fast ghosts that would otherwise kill you. people complain that "oh tier 3 salt is the worst for 0E/One Hunt because you can't see it" but I place it in the same spots every time and all you have to do is take a picture from behind the fence if you have your brightness turned all the way down for some reason, otherwise you can see it.
Thank you so much the first try i did this was with no smudge and the ghost hunted so i looped it but when it hunted again it did not find me so i used my global vc like a billion times so after that im like "oh yeah thats a yokai 100%" So then i go back to the truck and i do yokai AND I GOT IT RIGHT NO SMUDGE FIRST TRY 2365 XP! AND MONEY!!!!
When I get the deo, if the objectives don't include "Ghost Event" i usually go for the perfect game. 1 ghost photo (go for this first, so you don't waste your time by missing by accident), and 9 photos of disturbed salt, plus 3 objectives. Pushes 5200xp/gp Also crouching around the fire is a line-of-sight breaker, so you can actually turn of sprinting for an extra 2x (up to 12.22). I also leave power on for the Jinn test. (All this on woodwind)

Very confusing and yet very helpful as well. New to phasmo and I can never get the footsteps right. They all sound the same. Or sound like a specific ghost then turns out to be the complete opposite. I’ll keep studying this type of
The woodwind strategi are so cheese but VERY good payout! .. I do a couple of rounds but I enjoy playing the game normally .. biggest xp I got was 4800 xp in 4 min

I'm failing ghost type a lot, but at least getting better at looping with this strat. I did just smudge a ghost and it hunted elsewhere 20 seconds later, so I went "OH, Twins...weird, the speed sounded normal...." It was a Mimic. *throws keyboard*
First game I try with this strategy the ghost turned off the breaker as soon as I enter the house. Second game, the ghost start to chase just in front of the kitchen. I'm not having a lot of luck to set up the strategy ahahah
Great guide as usual Psycho! For woodwind, windy weather is perfect for visibility. And we could take a salt lighter smudge and go to the campfire looping and also get the wraith test done that way.
What do you actually lose and not lose when you prestige? do you lose your gear upgrades? or just your gear and money? same question for like if you keep your maps and stuff
Issue 1.) Jinn and Rev are easily confused. They both act the same when losing line of sight Issue 2.) idk if its rng or not but ive gotten ganked 3 times in a row instantly walking through the door. It should've been a Demon, it was a wraith, ALL 3 times. Issue 3.) how are you supposed to figure wraith without salt? Got ONE right because you can see a Hantus breath. Be WARNED. If you go into this looking to practice looping and hiding and make a bit of money as well, you will fail. A LOT. Edit: Im seriously confused. I can hear Mylings better than Onis, if i get hunted immediately upon entering the house, 4/5 times its a wraith, never once seen a Rev even though the Jin acts EXACTLY the same, Can go multiple hunts in a row and its almost always the faster twin 3/3 tries in a row, yokais are indistinguishable from anything else because EVERY SINGLE OPTION will not even enter the garage even if im at the front of the van POUNDING "B". I have to leave the door open so they can see me and guess from there. I never checked to see how old this video is but im willing to bet that CJ made double sure to make this as impossible as possible.
Its worth noting for the last method, you don't need to use the benches if you want a bit more space you can just sit behind the campfire and break line of sight with the ghost by hiding behind it
@@TheAllSeeingGamer1 Nah, i've been doing it on 14x runs with 50% player speed and im able to get to the campfire in time. Admittedly its slower in terms of speed but more rewards overall when you don't get the ghost correct
Meh i was just thinking i wish i could see oni/normal ghost side by side comparison..but i have to admit even there I'm having trouble spotting the difference. Phantom is much more obvious
My biggest beef with this strat is that you didn’t do it without Smudge sticks cause you don’t get those til lvl 14, and sanity pills at 16. I’m only level 8 atm lol trying to get pictures of interactions when the ghost isn’t doing anything outside of a hunt is pretty hard. Last night it was a Thaye, soon as I entered the house it spawned right next to the door on Tanglewood, did not get the chance to go hide I heard the door close, childs laughter, then the hands all within 2.5 seconds 😂😂
I was hoping he'd do a quick guide on all the ghost! Everytime I try this I always manage to eliminate most of the easy ghost and i'm stuck with the annoying ones those being Spirit,Banshee,Mare,Shade,Demon,Yurei,Goryo and Onryo and for someone of my skill it's practically impossible to guess the correct one and it's super annoying
Shade can't throw items in the same room as the player, onryo will hunt when you extinguish flames, spirit will be smudged for 3 minutes compared to normal ghosts 90 seconds and the demons 60 seconds
@@brianfeuerman1732 for sure, easy to confuse them with revs when it's broken. The tell is the rev slowly goes back to normal speed once it loses LOS and a Jinn it's instant

Well if your a beginner you should be playing normal phasmo not grinding
And I recommend if you learning to loop put your speed to 150 and the ghost speed at 100

You can also set the weather to "Heavy Rain", which boosts the multiplier to x10.15%

It's not really worth the pounding loud rain just for a tiny .03 multiplier boost. That's the reason Fog is specifically picked

Did something similar and was grinding all day! Very effective went from level 12 to 59 in the same day. Managed to get better and better at identifying the ghosts

Ive been using this difficultly but with all hiding spaces and i dont leave without figuring the ghost. And its soooo much more fun than nightmare or just leaving with a guess. I would love to see u playing it this way or even join me with a friend ive been playing it none stop for past week its around 9.15x and so fun
Since i am cant tell the footsteps right away I had to record my gameplay and watch back and compare footsteps lol. But it worked! this video was very helpful

you absolutely can figure out a wraith in one hunt, I just throw salt on the ground and it only becomes more practical to do so when you unlock tier 3 salt because it will slow down fast ghosts that would otherwise kill you. people complain that "oh tier 3 salt is the worst for 0E/One Hunt because you can't see it" but I place it in the same spots every time and all you have to do is take a picture from behind the fence if you have your brightness turned all the way down for some reason, otherwise you can see it.
Thank you so much the first try i did this was with no smudge and the ghost hunted so i looped it but when it hunted again it did not find me so i used my global vc like a billion times so after that im like "oh yeah thats a yokai 100%" So then i go back to the truck and i do yokai AND I GOT IT RIGHT NO SMUDGE FIRST TRY 2365 XP! AND MONEY!!!!

When I get the deo, if the objectives don't include "Ghost Event" i usually go for the perfect game. 1 ghost photo (go for this first, so you don't waste your time by missing by accident), and 9 photos of disturbed salt, plus 3 objectives. Pushes 5200xp/gp
Also crouching around the fire is a line-of-sight breaker, so you can actually turn of sprinting for an extra 2x (up to 12.22). I also leave power on for the Jinn test.

Very confusing and yet very helpful as well. New to phasmo and I can never get the footsteps right. They all sound the same. Or sound like a specific ghost then turns out to be the complete opposite. I’ll keep studying this type of

The woodwind strategi are so cheese but VERY good payout! .. I do a couple of rounds but I enjoy playing the game normally .. biggest xp I got was 4800 xp in 4 min

Custom difficulty unlocks at level 50 so unless you’re dirt broke you should have a smudge stick.
Spirit and demons can be figured out by smudging the ghost and seeing how long it takes for the ghost to hunt again.

I wish I had the presence of mind to get the ghost in a single hunt. I often only manage to track one or two things at a time
I'm failing ghost type a lot, but at least getting better at looping with this strat.
I did just smudge a ghost and it hunted elsewhere 20 seconds later, so I went "OH, Twins...weird, the speed sounded normal...." It was a Mimic. *throws keyboard*
First game I try with this strategy the ghost turned off the breaker as soon as I enter the house. Second game, the ghost start to chase just in front of the kitchen. I'm not having a lot of luck to set up the strategy ahahah
Great guide as usual Psycho! For woodwind, windy weather is perfect for visibility. And we could take a salt lighter smudge and go to the campfire looping and also get the wraith test done that way.
Yeh I should have included wraith xD but I think the vast majority will pick tanglewood over woodwind
there is a 24x strat but you have too have a lighter and 3 incense and also get lucky with the ghist

Issue 1.) Jinn and Rev are easily confused. They both act the same when losing line of sight
Issue 2.) idk if its rng or not but ive gotten ganked 3 times in a row instantly walking through the door. It should've been a Demon, it was a wraith, ALL 3 times.
Issue 3.) how are you supposed to figure wraith without salt?
Got ONE right because you can see a Hantus breath.
Be WARNED. If you go into this looking to practice looping and hiding and make a bit of money as well, you will fail. A LOT.
Edit: Im seriously confused. I can hear Mylings better than Onis, if i get hunted immediately upon entering the house, 4/5 times its a wraith, never once seen a Rev even though the Jin acts EXACTLY the same, Can go multiple hunts in a row and its almost always the faster twin 3/3 tries in a row, yokais are indistinguishable from anything else because EVERY SINGLE OPTION will not even enter the garage even if im at the front of the van POUNDING "B". I have to leave the door open so they can see me and guess from there. I never checked to see how old this video is but im willing to bet that CJ made double sure to make this as impossible as possible.

Its worth noting for the last method, you don't need to use the benches if you want a bit more space you can just sit behind the campfire and break line of sight with the ghost by hiding behind it

@@TheAllSeeingGamer1 Nah, i've been doing it on 14x runs with 50% player speed and im able to get to the campfire in time. Admittedly its slower in terms of speed but more rewards overall when you don't get the ghost correct

Meh i was just thinking i wish i could see oni/normal ghost side by side comparison..but i have to admit even there I'm having trouble spotting the difference. Phantom is much more obvious
Same here, the blinking rates looks almost exactly the same so it's more difficult to make comparison between them.
My biggest beef with this strat is that you didn’t do it without Smudge sticks cause you don’t get those til lvl 14, and sanity pills at 16. I’m only level 8 atm lol trying to get pictures of interactions when the ghost isn’t doing anything outside of a hunt is pretty hard. Last night it was a Thaye, soon as I entered the house it spawned right next to the door on Tanglewood, did not get the chance to go hide I heard the door close, childs laughter, then the hands all within 2.5 seconds 😂😂

I always get the Thaye and Moroi mixed up. I'm also bad at finding Hantu and The Twins.
I was hoping he'd do a quick guide on all the ghost! Everytime I try this I always manage to eliminate most of the easy ghost and i'm stuck with the annoying ones those being Spirit,Banshee,Mare,Shade,Demon,Yurei,Goryo and Onryo and for someone of my skill it's practically impossible to guess the correct one and it's super annoying
Shade can't throw items in the same room as the player, onryo will hunt when you extinguish flames, spirit will be smudged for 3 minutes compared to normal ghosts 90 seconds and the demons 60 seconds
Spirit and demon aren’t that bad. Just do the smudge test. Everything else, I agree is pretty annoying to try and figure out.
Jinn is hard to figure out too, if the breaker is broken.
@@brianfeuerman1732 for sure, easy to confuse them with revs when it's broken. The tell is the rev slowly goes back to normal speed once it loses LOS and a Jinn it's instant
