THE COSTUME CHOICE FOR HYDE'S MURDERED VICTIMS IS GENIUS!!! Suggestive of what happened to them, but not too morbid. And when they walk away to reveal Jekyll's dead body from the previous number, and Emma's breakdown? Her ending requiem is such a haunting ending to this show!
It's very interesting for me that Jekyll killed himself with a knife. I saw this musical twice and both times it ended at the wedding of Henry and Emma. Henry is turning into Hyde while the wedding ceremony is going. With his last powers Henry gives John a gun to end everything. But John can't shoot his best friend, so Emma does it... But that Henry is killing himself in his last moment of really being himself is a powerful move. Bravo to all the actors, dancers, musicians and all the other involved in this production. You are amazing!!
@@BunnyBoo0802 It was amazing. I was in shock both times after seeing the ending. If you are interested, I have the link of the trailer made from the theater I saw it in in 2015 und 2017. In the end of the video, they show a glimpse of the final at the wedding. The video is in german, but it's pretty good(although I'm not a huge fan of most german translations ^^) Have fun: ua-cam.com/video/UkfEo5t7CjM/v-deo.html
I rather like how this version stayed more faithful to the book - in the original novella by Robert Louis Stevenson, Jekyll poisons himself in his laboratory as he transforms into Hyde. I suppose each ending took a little something from the ending of the novella, but still, it was nice to see fragments of the original poke through in the musical.
The use of the "Facade" song in this scene is superb. The first time you hear it, it's used to describe the falseness of society. In this part it is used to show that there are monsters within all of us. We all have the potential to be Hyde.
I feel that this is the best possible way for the show to end. It just shows that you can be able to be both good and evil. Everyone has the capacity to do this. We are all responsible for our own destiny and we are usually the ones in control. When you're losing control of both your life and the people you love, you can go downhill fast. The formula released a dark side that the society of the time wished would rather stay hidden.Nobody is safe when you have mental health issues. You really have to walk on eggshells to avoid triggering them off.
There is another take on this scene. During the wedding scene at the end of the musical, Henry begins to turn into Hyde. He nearly kills Emma. He doesn't want her to see her as the monster he has become. He asks Utterson to kill him., but Utterson can not bring himself to do it. Emma ends up shooting Henry.

Wait..... you’ve seen a version like that? I’ve always seen the Henry stabs himself AT his wedding version. I would love to see the version you saw!

I like this scene for the end better than the wedding one. Its deeper and more similar to the original story

That's the original ending. This is the first time I've seen it done this way.
What? Is ending already? Nooooo 😭😭😭😭
