  • This is a resort review: Some friends and family joined us on a long weekend getaway down in the Florida Keys. With a desire to find a more quiet location, away from the larger resorts in Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon and Key West, we found a quaint resort with an amazing view and GREAT FISHING on Long Key.
    Lime Tree Bay Resort on Long Key (MM 68) was a pleasure to stay at. It was peaceful, beautifully kept with reasonable rates. Watch this video as Lorenzo and I give a resort review on our experience at Lime Tree Bay Resort.

    CAST NETS
    YOUR CAST NET IS ONE OF YOUR BEST FRIENDS - We use high quality nets because we rely on them to catch us bait. We always use lead weighted nets and small mesh size is very important. We like ¼” mesh. You will spend a little more but you’ll catch bait and keep them healthy! Here is a good brand of nets:
    Wide Open Premium Casting Net, Mesh Cast Net, Bait Net, Superior Throw Net, Fishing Bait, Castnet, Catch More Fish, Bait Traps, 1-1.5lbs/Ft MAKE SURE YOU SELECT 6 FOOT - ¼” MESH.

      @@watchyourlip3209 spot on review, we enjoyed the stay there %100. We were top floor by the elevator but for some reason our bathroom tub had a picture window looking into the bedroom (had blinds)? Great calm area to kayak (brought ours) and snorkeled around and checked out some of those lobster traps. Couple updates/things to add to this great video for those thinking about visiting. They are halfway through building a new (bigger) pool between the old one and fishing dock with graduallyslope to deep, perfect sunset views from your balcony every night and go get you some blackened grouper, Mahi, and a route 1 rum runner at Florida Boys next door... so good! We will be back for sure.

    Hi very cool vídeo. What kind of rig set up and bait did you guys use to fish there?

      Thanks a bunch. It’s really simple. Light mine. 10 pound monofilament or 20 pound breed. Splice to a 20 pound fluorocarbon leader with a 1/0 circle hook. Bait would be freshly caught pilchards or ballyhoo. Those are preferred. I try not to use frozen stuff.

    Going here in May, resort said complimentary fishing rods, do they provide baits and tackles too? Thanks

    • @watchyourlip3209
      @watchyourlip3209  3 роки тому

      Hi there. They were no offering complimentary rods when we went. That’s really cool though!!!

      I would buy my own bait for sure. Live shrimp or pin fish are best. Or buy “fresh dead ballyhoo or pilchards” make sure they have not been frozen. The snapper at the dock love them. Local tackle stores in the Keys should all have “fresh dead” bait on ice

    hey man, what bait did you guys use?! We went there last week and didnt catch much

    • @watchyourlip3209
      @watchyourlip3209  4 роки тому +1

      We used freshly dead pilchards. We find that snappers tend to greatly prefer bait that has never been frozen. Also - gotta be at night. We caught almost nothing during the daylight hours

      Watch Your Lip Oh alright! And yeah I see what you mean by at night, fish were biting like crazy at night but they were just all small. Where’d you get the pilchards? I appreciate the answer man

      No problem. We went to a beach in Broward co with a cast net a few days before our trip and loaded up. You can ask the bait store on us1 in homestead right before the 20 mile stretch for “fresh dead pilchards” and they sell bags of them sometimes. The trick is to get them never frozen. Same with ballyhoo

      Watch Your Lip Oh ok ok. I really appreciate the help bro, we are planning another trip to Lime bay soon. I’ll make sure to do what you said and hopefully we can catch more than last time. Take care and God bless man. *subscribed*

      No problem. A little chum helps too. I cut some pilchards and shrimp up into little pieces and put them in a bucket with oatmeal and a little water. I throw a scoop of that into the water every 5-10 minutes. That keeps the snapper fired up
