Our constitution comes from the only 2 books written to protect us - the Magna Carta 1215 and the Bill of Rights 1689 which are actually ratified within our legislation and has been upheld in our court system (several times - and Laws are made through court, not through Parliament)
That is exactly correct, If the Laws already exist, then JUST USE THEM to neutralise the problem, DON'T WASTE political time making something you already HAVE. Or is this just a smoke screen to put in place something "different" to what is currently there, that will be a BIG mistake, just use the existing laws and crush the Antisemitic views.

As far as I am aware we have had only 1 person in Victoria who has been charged for speech. He was a Christian pastor who dared to point out the absurdities of the Islamic holy book.

@@jribeye1818 Freedom of speech isn’t on it unfortunately. The U S used to use the British constitution as well, before they made a bunch of amendments E.g. Freedom of speech comes from their first amendment. Sux for us but just how it is, unless enough Aussies demand a Bill of Rights like the U S have. We’ve had some amendments which were voted in, but not particularly benefitting the wider population in terms of our rights. Aborigines received some rights though. Before that they were classes as flora and fauna. So our constitution is almost the same as the British constitution. Although in the U K, each state doesn’t have as much power/control as they do here in Aus.

Labor are terrible at creating new policies, laws etc., they never do their due diligence and really only care about how it will benefit the party. Current hate speech laws already exist as mentioned, the police just need to enforce it. There's videos showing Albo not only attending, but speaking at pro-Palestinian rally's in his early years of politics. This pro-Palestinian speech explains his stance on the recent 7 Oct attack and why he has supported the pro-hate Islamist speeches and not shut them down. This new law will not protect any race or individual, it's will be for them to use against us. I really hope the other more sensible parties somehow stop the law from getting through.
